  1. That is my father and me and my older brother wow long time ago
  2. My thought on this was maybe the front end got replaced with a different front end from one of the shorter hood trucks I remember locally here someone had a similar problem replacing the sheet metal up front.
  3. If you look on the B model registry here and go to B model info and then Cab info you can see all of the different things they did to the different models as far as bumper to back of cab dimensions there was a lot of difference in hood length etc.
  4. Dang you all have wheels on the back I can’t use reverse unless I drop the load
  5. I don't have a gas engine like you, just spent a lot of time working as a mechanic for different logging companies and that leads to working on equipment of all kinds I have always had trouble with champion spark plugs I would change them out for autolite or another good brand and an engine would run better and start easier but it's getting harder to find the big old spark plugs in a heat range that works best in your engine the smaller engines seem to like NGK better
  6. Had a similar problem with one truck and couldn’t find any reason for the problem finally found a crack in the secondary fuel filter head it was sucking air through a tiny crack in the aluminum where the filter seals
  7. For the last few years champion plugs have been not so good so I have been using auto lite Ngk and even bosch
  8. I finally got to order these they were shipped promptly and when I got them out of the box, well you can see they are excellent thanks for all the time spent on these mine were missing now just a few more things to find
  9. Long gone unfortunately these are some of my favorites I saw these working when I was little they were awesome Weyerhaeuser had some at camp Baker when mt st Helen’s blew in 1980 I know I posted this picture before but its a good one
  10. Excellent vintage video from the early 60's from washington state and oregon state the large oval shaped tank behind the cab is a water tank for cooling the brakes it takes about 10-15 pounds air pressure to push the water out to cool the drums thanks for finding that and posting
  11. Nothing better than a good pie especially mince meat with venison but it’s hard to eat while driving your favorite machine it gets all over your pants
  12. Also check the engine wiring harness for oil we had a problem with oil pressure sending units pushing oil into the harness and cutting the power to the injectors they would not get a signal with the oil in the wiring sometimes it would start sometimes not
  13. Merry Christmas looks like I need to put out the fire if he’s going to be bringing bottles down
  14. Oh no, what do you know that grill guard we had an exact duplicate someone left at the shop and no one new anything about it and it went to scrap last year must have been a local add on for those trucks from that time period it pays to do a little hoarding
  15. A picture would be good to make sure that it is not a brake relay valve of some type old trucks have a lot of unusual modifications over they're life span
  16. It may be a quick release valve I hate it when I find a quick release valve that someone put in to split the brake line down to the service brakes they can stick open while driving and then you have no brakes there should just be a T there, quick release valves are more suitable for the parking brake if equipped with the bigger double brake chambers
  17. That is it nothing else sounds like it thanks we have a 59 international with a 220 cummins and red was the color as well I also remember a TD24 I used a long time ago it was yellow outside but the engine was red it was a great machine similar to a D-8 cat back to the E-6 thing go forward and build a bad E-7 and leave the E-6 to the past
  18. International painted all engines red it was there thing post some pictures of your 1693 if you can I have not seen one in a long time It was a sad day when they expired as for the E-6 mods I would not go there either save it for someone who appreciates it for what it is and move to the E-7
  19. I also have worked on several of the 343 and 1693 we used them in the big skagit yarders and also 988 cat front loader not uncommon to see 30,000 hours and up with no problems they were great.

I did post a picture of the Foden truck on here some time ago it had a Rolls Royce diesel and I had to repower it I used an E-6 350 and an 8LL it is still right hand drive and we use these 2 yarders for steep slope logging in the mountains I have not done any ski lift work but the cable splicing knowledge is the same

Stumps behind the yarder are cut tall with notches to keep the guyline from slipping off same for the tail hold for the skyline you can see better here the 4 guylines on the left and the skyline on the right

Sometimes we use this little Christy yarder its small enough you can put it on the edge of some steep ground where space is tight
