  1. Goes back to the cost of health care a few pages back... If you're not the one footing the bill, who cares what it costs?
  2. When I was self-employed 8 years ago I bought my own Blue Cross policy for about $3300 a year for me and my child. Today I have a policy through my employer, pay $7000 a year (not including what my employer pays) plus my deductible is $4000. How is this better for me? Thanks, Obama!
  3. I guess I'm just old school... Don't go to the doctor every time I got a runny nose... Just suck it up and get back to work. Probably a lot of times over the years I could lay down and claim disability, just not in my nature. Got knocked down for a few weeks by an exploding tire a couple years ago, and my back has been bad since I was 18, just got things to do and no time to go to the doctor. I scratch my head, some of the people I see on permanent disability are in better shape than me lol. The new American dream.
  4. Torque gets the load moving, horsepower maintains. 600 hp doesn't do anything to get you moving in direct drive. You need torque multiplying GEARING to get going. That's why your 180 hp B-75 has 20 forward gears. It's amazing the work that got done back in the day with less than 200 hp. And today's spoiled "drivers" won't even consider driving a truck with less than 500. Been there, done that, looking to simplify my life. Looking forward to getting my E6 350 on the road.
  5. It's going to be even more of a problem when electronic logs kick into effect. Guys try to make up their time while driving to counteract all the wasted time otherwise on-duty not driving.
  6. Not a bad place to be, Paul. In my observation nowadays, too many people are generally in a big hurry but don't even know where they're going.
  7. Seems to me Rowdy and Teamster finally agree on something. Although they might not know it yet.
  8. I'd like to see a pic of what you call " California spoke" wheels. I'm not familiar with that term. If you mean Dayton cast spokes, it's a totally different hub than the yellow truck in the picture.
  9. Funny how the Democrat hypocrites accuse the Trump administration of doing the same things they are guilty of. Creating smoke where there is no fire. This same Russian ambassador apparently visited the Obama White House 22 times, and met with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, two of the loudest Trump critics. I agree with the Russian spokeswoman, it seems that Kislyak has merely been doing his job over the years.
  10. We ran a bunch in car hauler Sterling from '04 up to the end '08 last Sterlings Mercedes was the only engine option in the car hauler chassis. Boss was upset when he couldn't get CAT anymore, but the Mercedes worked OK. Now with Volvo and freightliner/Detroit emissions/electronic issues, he's wishing we had the Sterlings back lol. One thing I do remember, DO NOT use ether(starting fluid) on these engines!!! With the individual cylinder heads, you will break something. Usually head bolts.
  11. See quite a few about that size doing city delivery in NYC, considering a high rise apartment or office building might take 3,000-5,000 gallons at a time. Nothing that fancy, though. Most NYC oil trucks are green painted steel tanks.
  12. "Balanced so well can be towed with a 1-ton" you bet... No mention of the gross weight. I'll say that trailer is every bit of 20,000 lbs.
  13. Doubt it will fit into R600. Hope yours is an R700 long hood.
  14. I know a few former Preston drivers, and none have anything bad to say about the company. Yellow Freight, however, illicits a different response. Preston employees never forgave Yellow Freight for what they did to that company.
  15. So George W Bush kept his mouth shut for the last 8 years and now he's got a whole bunch of things to say. What does that tell you? Part of the establishment who feels threatened at this point.
  16. The 14 and 20 speed Spicers were a pleasure to drive, if you took the time to learn. Love the big blue shift knob! An outfit I worked for years ago had 3 freightliners with them, and as a mechanic, thought they would never hold up with the rookie drivers, as these 3 were the oldest trucks in the fleet at the time. But we had less trouble with them than any other transmission, really bulletproof. The worst trouble we had was driveshafts, because the drivers would get bogged down off-road and gouge on it in low gear! Lots of torque from the 3406 CAT, more than the driveshaft could handle.
  17. Looks good to me! The wide cab allows you to see around the turbo!
  18. The red tile in the shower would be great eye-opener for the morning hangover.
  19. This is the only stamping I can see on the casings, all 8 have a similar marking. I don't know how to decipher this number, though.
  20. I have looked for some type of stamping, but can't seem to find it. I will look again tomorrow.
  21. I have a set of 8 Bandag drive caps, all around 13/32 tread. Good for a hobby truck, I don't want to work them only because I don't know how old the casings are. I'm guessing at least 10 years. Right now they are mounted on steel Budds. I'd sell all 8 with or without the wheels for $500.
  22. My RW721 had a ten speed with the selectair shifter. Basically the same as a 12 without the lo-hole. A pleasure to drive.
  23. The original song by CW McCall had a Kenworth, I could accept that.
