  1. How is Joe Biden regarded as "highly intelligent", and Barack Obama is considered a brilliant public speaker, yet G.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan are dismissed as simpletons?!? I don't see much difference between the speech patterns of Bush and Obama, and Biden has put his foot in his mouth many times. But the media coverage is "unbiased". Yeah right. Reagan was one of the most inspirational and motivational speakers in our history.
  2. Take anything you hear on CNN with a grain of salt. They have a motive.
  3. Or maybe the purchaser's belly takes up more space than in 1975? Just sayin'.
  4. Good score on the Impala! That was a nice body style. Glad you found a clean one.
  5. R model not terrible, could easily be restored to original. IDK WHAT they were thinking with that CL... FUGGLY
  6. Mack release bearing is upside down compared to other trucks. The grease fitting is on top, with a hose kit installed so you can access with the grease gun. Clutch free play adjustment is the same as any other truck, with the lock ring on the pressure plate. The linkage only gets adjusted during initial setup, or if you have clutch brake issues.
  7. I chose my words carefully in my previous post, hesitant to call an automobile an investment. A new car is one of the worst ways to spend your money. But I, like you, purchase for the long term. I don't buy new, either. I let someone else take the depreciation. My most recent purchase was a 2003 Yukon in 2012, now over 170k,and my daily driver is a 1998 Wrangler with snowplow, purchased in 2005, with around 112k.
  8. That pic looks like me at 4:30pm on the Cross Bronx!
  9. Some cars very nice and clean, but others 4-5 years old and TRASHED! It amazes me how some people neglect their automobiles. Probably the 2nd largest expense in life for most people.
  10. I've been collecting these TDI returns from dealers, VW is overwhelmed with the volume... The dealers tell me corporate assumed that dealers would buy and hold the cars and wait for fix, then resell said cars. Not happening. VW is scrambling to find space now to store them. Our regional collection area is Baltimore, there are cars so far in Curtis Bay, and we are now filling up space at the old Bethlehem Steel property in Sparrows Point. Most consumers I talk to say they love their TDIs, but can't turn down the money that VW is offering. If they are giving you $15k for a 2010, I would take the money and run!
  11. That's not camel toe, that be a moose knuckle.
  12. Ohio watches axle weights pretty closely... I had good luck with a 40' spread axle frameless. Hard to load it wrong with a spread axle. The advantage to frameless is lighter than a comparable frame trailer. The only disadvantage to frameless is they may be less stable dumping in some off-road situations. You do need to pay attention to level when dumping.
  13. My bad, as usual I wasn't paying close attention. I misread the posts. I should have known Randy wouldn't go to Camelback anyway. There's no Tilted Kilt there.
  14. Dave Dudley singing. Not sure who's backyard. I recognize the cruise liner from PA shows, though.
  15. There was your mistake, Randy. You went to Camelback, you should have gone to CAMELTOE.
  16. I converted my F over to 12v negative ground and eliminated the S/P switch(it had a broken stud anyway). It cranked the 24v starter OK with 2 group 31 batteries, but when I upgraded the engine I also put in a 12v starter. Simple and reliable.
  17. By the talk of that marketing manager Brad May, and the way Peterbilt is pushing the 567 in the states, I stand by my prediction that PACCAR will standardize on this new cab design worldwide. The old narrow KW and Pete cabs will be gone. No more 389 or W900.
  18. No, I'm pretty sure Rowdy is correct in that the PEOPLE are the ultimate authority, and hopefully our government will once again honor that constitutional decree. The Supreme Court is an extension of the political party in charge at the time, that's why this recent presidential election was so important to so many PEOPLE.
  19. Nancy Pelosi tweeted out a question seeking people's experiences with ACA, and linked the results to the White House website... Too bad she didn't get the ammo she wanted, most of the feedback was negative. Costs way up, lost providers, etc. What remains of ACA is not really affordable to working families. If ACA is so great maybe Ms. Pelosi and her Congressional colleagues should give up their Cadillac coverage and walk the walk down here in the real world.
  20. Depends on your fuel supply. If you are confident that you are buying good quality fuel at all times, that greatly reduces the benefits of any additives. Years ago when I was buying my own fuel, I shopped price more often than the big truckstop chains. Small Mom & Pop fuel stops maybe greater risk of water or other contamination. I ran Lucas and Howe's for a while, but did the math and finally settled on Power Service products, best dollar value and highly recommended by my supplier. Enough MPG increase to justify use of the product, plus peace of mind regarding contamination and cold weather protection. Ran my 2000 CX 1.5 million miles never replaced an injector.
  21. You haven't seen the last of Obummer... He won't go away quietly.
