  1. very quiet, and very expensive. the 2400 yamaha i got my buddy paid $1,300 for around 10 years ago. it was too small to run the ac in his camper, so he bought a bigger one and put it up for sale. no takers even at $750. i noticed the for sale sign on it at a swap meet around 5 years ago and asked him what he wanted for it. he said give me $500 and get it out of my truck. you can be standing over it at full load and have a full conversation with someone else without raising your voice.
  2. boy ain't that the truth. i had been putting off getting my knee replaced back in 2015. until december 7th. my knee gave out and i went down. my whole body, including glasses landed in the grass. my forehead landed on the edge of the asphalt driveway. looked like took a load of #7.5 birdshot straight to the forehead. doctor in the emergency room would not release me because my left knee was almost the size of a basketball, and sent me upstairs for a knee replacement which they did dec 9th,
  3. Larry, the guys at smokstak.com. onan generator section will help you rehab that set. And it is probably gonna be a lot cheaper than you think.
  4. Yup. Looks like it was rode hard and put away wet every day of its life. But for such a rarely seen truck, it survived
  5. not mine and i know nothing about it. just saw the listing on bookface marketplace and figured someone here may be interested in it: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/722899285820706/?hoisted=false&ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3Aa76c1028-c602-453a-9a7b-974abb08cb04
  6. i have an assortment of gensets. a 2400watt yamaha inverter. for away from home use. it is so quiet you can have a conversation with it running at your feet. a 5000 watt generac someone gave me not running. it likes to break a valve retainer and loose compression so i do not depend on it. a 1954 onan 10CCKB 3600rpm screamer. 10,000 watt. a miller bobcat 250 welder that is also 10,000 watt generator. and an onan 15jc 10,000 watt natural gas unit connected directly to the house with an automatic transfer switch. i always recommend getting a generator larger than what you thing you will need by at least 50% if you think you will need 5,000 watts, get a 7,500 or 10,000 watt unit
  7. with a knife and fork, like they do in chicago!! ya forgot about bahstin
  8. over here we get the nu yawkas. they talk about how nice it is to live down da shaw. and only have to drive 4 owas to get in da sitty fa woik.
  9. me thinks you will have a better chance of seeing free ice water dispensers placed on every street corner in hell than that ever happening.
  10. this was a good thread to review on this nasty foggy new years eve. visibility outside is about 100 yards...............and the first time in close to 12 years the fog horn on the lighthouse out in the bay has sounded. too bad so many truck pictures are no longer available..
  11. Brocky, i was also referring to the model. a 55, (which was also made in the 50's and older) had a round nose. the MB-4 started in the 60's. the model 55 also had a 4 door cab
  12. yes on the Coleman tug, but no on the 55. i am pretty sure that is much newer than the 55, like a late 60's or early 70's MB4
  13. better than trying to escape from a pissed off wife Paul.
  14. nope. heavy road construction and frozen ground do not mix. we do winter layoff between christmas and new year every year. just so happens 2-3 inches of rain for today and tomorrow, than temps in low teens for the next week means we said screw it and shut down. we will still be playing on non frozen days as we are building a new shop location.
  15. i got fired yesterday afternoon. until around Easter.
  16. it is currently 43 here, with 55 called for tomorrow. than 12 for the HIGH temp on saturday. with 25-30 mph winds.
  17. don't feel bad. my mind says 25, but my body says 125.
  18. we had the same issue back in the 70's early 89's Paul. deer were eating the apple and peach orchards bare. contacted the state who did a survey, and they determined there were NOT ENOUGH deer per acre. so we decided to take care of the problem ourselves. 22 long rifle and a spotlight at 11pm. working with the local sheriff, he gave names of needy families. we would shoot 3-4 deer PER NIGHT. and drop the gutted carcass off to said needy families. plus donated a whole mess to the county for use feeding prisoners in the county lockup. did that for close to 15 years before finally selling the orchards.
  19. sure do Dave, but i don't think they are in Netcong anymore. last time i was past there in the spring the trucks said Big Red LTL
