  1. The Green Hornet looks to me to be a 200 series ( 257 or 260 ? ) Probably from the early or mid 1960s. There's a show in Cortland New York in August where you can find many examples of trucks similar to it...not to mention the guys who are into them. They were quite the ride in their day.
  2. I think this year Macungie is the same day as juneteenth

OD you may need an eye exam. There's clearly 4 melons in that picture.
  4. Ever think $6.29 a gallon would be good news ? FJB
  5. Ahhhhh...... you mean that fantastic polish job on the tank ?????
  6. I never said anything was wrong with a Mack transmission. I'd imagine you guys are better at driving trucks than a lot of what there is here to choose from as drivers. Have you ever watched someone who doesn't know what a 12 speed is try to drive one ? (lol) Most guys don't even know about the 18 speed Macks with the switch for neutral so you can have the PTO mounted and use it with a speed selected in the main (or why you may want that option) Mack transmissions feel different to shift to guys, not as easy as a Fuller. Sad truth is, drivers that know how to drive trucks from over 20 years ago are a dying breed.
  7. Mack transmissions are usually either good or they're not (so to say) If it's in good working order ? They're pretty much engineered to be in a Mack and are friendly to the engine's ranges. It was good advise from 67Rmodel , a new reman that isn't abused after being installed will do what you're looking for. Personally, I think for way too long Mack just assumed people actually knew how to use extended range transmissions. Truth is, many don't so the Mack transmission often was abused by misuse. The fullers put up with a lot more and often didn't have some of the abilities of a Mack. 2s or 3s were all pretty good transmissions as long as they were in working order.
  8. Makes me wonder. Back when that truck was new, I don't think they had cameras or film to take pictures like now. How much changed since that truck was new.... beautiful job of preserving some history.
  9. An older RTO ( cheap ) Eaton 13 is only .87 overgear. That's a lot compared to the Mack or RTLO the Mack 13 or 18 would work too with less searching for parts. Wonder what axle ratio is in it ?
  10. Your Mack transmission has a fairly high overdrive. An Eaton 13 would need to be some form of RTLO 13 or you'll lose road speed.....and an Eaton isn't a direct replacement for a Mack transmission.
  11. A Small Cam in good shape also sounds fantastic. Not just the exhaust. The engine itself has a certain distinctive sound.
  12. Then that's likely converted to a 350. Which in my opinion makes it an even cooler truck
  13. Did 335s have an intercooler ?
  14. I think someone has a soft spot for Mack mixers .
  15. Awesome !!! Congratulations , looks fantastic 😍 You already changed your avatar , I know I was a little thrown off at first (lol)
  16. I was right across the intersection there haul'n sand...... that woulda been the place for that steak I talk about (or at least one of those deli specials)
  17. '98 ? ( lol ) there's a really good chance the truck in my avatar blew the doors off you. I had a job right down past the drop lot hauling outta a pit. Small world
  18. Could probably share some really good soppressata too
  19. I'm serious. I have a Granite and a brand new MP7 still on the Mack skid. I'm never gonna get around to it. I'd say I'd buy whatever it takes, but who knows what's available . (Harness, compressor, damper....all that stuff
  20. Geeze Joey, I'll pay ya to come up here and put an engine in a truck for me.....I'll even pay for your fuel to get here n back

    Shop Talk

Not to sound unappreciative , but OD would need to school you a bit.
  22. body bag maybe
  23. You're on fire Dave 😂
  24. I did see that. They actually look like teflon coated clamps. Those white zip ties aren't worth much more than as you're using them , they never last around anything truck or exposed to UV
  25. Far be it from me to critique any of the work you've done on this truck, but I see white zip ties. It's been my experience they're not the best choice for anything on a truck. Seems like they always crack and fail .
