END673T Turbo Question
1958 F.W.D. replied to NY-B61's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
We had this thing called a Boda Turbo-Lube on a couple of our firetrucks (the ones we have that I wont admit to having green leakers........) -
Ohhhhhhhh pepper squeezins!!!!!
-
What'r the bottles for? Some home made corn squeezins? Potato squeezins?
-
Pick up the truck for a song and a dance. Rebuild the chassis and driveline, keep the cab for parts and or templates and find another cab to drop on.
-
FOCK!!!!!! Probably still has a lot of good parts. Tires didn't blow, the heat wasnt too terribly bad.....The body pieces may be good, I dont see any heat warping.......It might be salvageable.....Of course it'll take a little more elbow grease than the previous condition.

Thanks everyone, had an "OK" day, had to work- no rest for the weary. Wife got some overtime tonight so we didnt go out or anything, but she said if I play my cards right she might take me to the TK tomorrow night or Friday night and point out one or two nuns that she would bring home for me- if she did that sort of thing as she likes to say........WENCH!!! LOL

You owe us no explanations Mark. You did what you had to do to help out your friend take care of business. I am glad to hear that you were able to spend a few good days with him and enjoy a meal and drinks together, and that you were there when he passed. He knew that you were there. He may be gone physically but his spirit will live forever in your heart. Godspeed to your friend, and my condolences.

I spent the day doing honeydews. First took the dishwarsher apart and cleaned the filters and ejection pit and pump. Then reassembled it all, ran it twice with a bleach charge and she's as good as new. Then I took out the window air conditioners, blew them out with the air gun and put them away. (my back!) Then cleaned up in the kitchen, loaded a load of dishes into the newly refreshed dishwarsher (which has been broke the last 3 days) and ran them. After I started the warsher I prepped the shicken and marinated it for din din tonight. Oh by the way I was taking care of all four kids while this was going on..........

That particular order of cabover freightliners had 18's....Then a few years later the first batch of Freightliner conventionals with the setback steers had the same setup. I think those were the only two orders in the entire history of the company that had 18's. -
32nd street sounds like Bklyn. What happened on Monday?

My pictures of the week month however the hell often I post them. Saw this James D. Morrissey (a big Philadelphia area contractor) Mack Titan with an old Euclid on the deck. Coincidentally a facebook friend saw it, and as it turns out one of his buddies had purchased it. Saw this lovely 1948 Ward Lafrance firetruck that was originally delivered new to the Bryn Athyn Fire Company (Montgomery County Pa.) Had a 140GZ Waukesha (F554G) You probably shaved with this truck last week. I made dinner for a beautiful girl a fraction of my age. She liked my food so much she couldn't control herself and had it all over her. I saw this vintage 1971 Lambert snowthrower almost get runt over by a vintage 1958 FWD. Luckily I stopped the guy in time. I saw this guy hitchhiking. Even though he looked like an axe murderer I felt sorry for him standing at the side of the road so I picked him up. I offered to get the guy a bite to eat so we stopped. He was talking to someone one his phone, it was kind of muffled, but I remember distinctly hearing the other voice say "Mini Mack." Thats when axe murderer got this crazed look in his eyes and he got up and started mumbling "sloooooooowly I turned.......inchhhhhh by inchhhhhh.....step by step............." Then I saw this girl. She offered to wash and wax the FWD. I told her to look at what she did to the bumper on that GMC and that she couldn't go near the FWD. I saw this picture of some kid when he was about 10 or 11 years old standing in front of a Jevic Freightliner. They had 3406B 450's with 18 speed Roadrangers. The kid's dad took him on a Texas run in this particular truck pulling a 48 footer with tastykakes out of Philly- bunch of stops in Nashville/Knoxville, Huntsville/Mobile and emptied out in Dallas/Ft Worth. The kid remembers it like it was yesterday. One of his first really "long" trips. I don't know what this is all about.......... Saw this FWD with a Budd cab........

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT? CAN'T YOU AHOLES SEE I'M BUSY????? Oh. Sorry. No you cannot see me through the interwebz, At least I don't think you can. Or can you? To answer the question: Not in the immediate Philly area, however there is a gentleman I know that I believe was considering or already pulled the trigger on renting a warehouse I believe in the Reading area and was looking for fellow firetruck owners to go in with him. If you are interested signify by posting an appropriate response below and I will contact the gentleman and find out if he did it and if there is room for more.

Four years ago I needed a new pair of feet tires for work, my Red Wings were absolutely shot. They had been resoled 2-3 times but the leather, stitches, etc was beyond hope. I had been a Red Wing "Made in the USA" customer my entire life. I was in a panic because the sole had separated and I needed a new pair pronto so I went to the Red Wing Store, In my couple of year absence things changed- 1/2 of the lineup was all made in China.....WTF?? But the salesperson assured me that they were just as reliable as USA made Red Wings and they would honor the warranties no questions asked. I was skeptical but I needed a pair bad so I laid out the $165. Here it is another 4-5 years later and these held up pretty well. There was a warranty issue involving ripped fabric lace eyelets that they replaced with metal ones- no questions asked. After 4-5 years of being worn at LEAST 5x a week (sometimes 7) for 12 hours a clip, these held up pretty well. I dunno though I'm still pretty peed that they were made in China. Starting to need a new pair, might look elsewhere for a pair made in the USA.
