  1. For my fleet of fire trucks (always high hours/low miles) we change engine oil when the oil analysis says so, roughly once every 14-16 months. Fire pump transfer case, transmissions and rear is less often. Analysis kits are purchased from Giles & Ransome Cat in Bensalem, Pa. We buy 6-packs of kits but if I remember correctly, you can get a single for $18.95 or something like that. This includes shipping the kit to you, a prepaid mailer to send the sample back to them, the sample bottle with an overpack bottle, the flexible tubing to draw a sample (if you don't have a petcock) and the cost of the analysis. Follow the instructions carefully, fill out the paperwork, send it back to them and in 7 days (or less) you will have a complete report sent via email.
  2. SWMBO is the one on the left in the purple, you perverts.
  3. Wow....Adding Hendrickson to the list of Mfr's that used the R-Model Poospreader cab. And is that a 530A firetruck in the background???
  4. Is it wrong that I want to make love to that truck?
  5. I always knew about the Edgecomb Steel stainless A-Cars but never knew about these.
  6. You are wrong about the wisdom teeth not helping......Because there is no wisdom in going anywhere near Buffalo right now......
  7. If any of the pickup truck manufacturer's want my attention they need to come out with a Ranger size or 1500 size diesel that is AFFORDABLE and fuel efficient. Not the ones that now cost $40,000+ and only get 20mpg..........
  8. I wonder if that's one of Gilbertsville, Pa (Montgomery County) twin tanker tractors????
  9. Some of you have seen this before. This is an actual bonafide picture of SWMBO and two of her friends. Not downloaded from the interwebz or taken in Winfall. I get to fall asleep with one of these three sets every night.
  10. Vlad- I was able to watch the video but something is really wrong with that person's keyboard- the writing is all scribbly and screwy looking. You might want to send them an email and tell them to get their keyboard looked at.
  11. Walk into another NAPA store, the older the better, including the guy behind the counter. Drop them down on the counter and just say "I need four of these or the rebuild kits." That's all you have to say. DO NOT SAY WHAT THEY ARE OFF OF. That will only confuse things. Let them find it via the Wagner casting number.
  12. An original Mack bell..........You might have better luck finding a UFO or the Loch Ness Monster.
  13. No CB. And the only scanner is whichever scanner app I run on the smartphone- you wouldn't understand what that is.
  14. Don't know if we ever did this here or not. What's your CB Handle and how did you get it??? Mine is "Son of Sam." because I have been accused of being a serial (not Cereal) killer and because my Father's name is Sam.
  15. www.enthuisastbooks.com has a ton of truck-related books, take a look through their website. Be warned, their books are like crystal meth- very addictive, very expensive habit. If you want to buy any of their books by Robert Gabrick, check with me first. He is a very close friend and I might be able to get them for you a bit cheaper and also personally autographed. Don't know what it would cost to ship to Oz though.
  16. Tom, I sent you a PM with my pop's cell number. Please reach out to him, and thanks for the help!
  17. Ummmmm....well.......ummmmm...ok then!
  18. Just talked to a firefighter buddy of mine up in Buffalo. He's been on duty straight with no breaks since Monday as has been the bulk of the on-duty forces including the cops and paramedics. The Mayor ordered all essential service personnel to be held on-duty at the recommendation of the Fire and Police Chiefs. Guys being retained on duty and those who are able to make it in are being used to add extra manning to in service trucks and to also man the reserve pools for additional units. He says they are not getting many fire calls, but buildings are collapsing left and right, and they only expect THAT to get worse tonight into tomorrow. Local Citizens are helping out by loaning the firefighters snowmobiles, one guy even loaned the fire dept an old half-track but they managed to get that stuck if you can believe it.
  19. damn driptroits......at least with THAT one you dont have to smash your fingers with the hammer before you start it.........
  20. I am ruling out firetruck. I don't see any holes drilled in any sheet metal where sirens, lights, bells, etc would be mounted.
  21. Ken- the 1870's and 1880's?
  22. How do you keep them clean and short?
  23. Had a plumber give me a tip once- If you are in an old house that still has cast iron DWV pipes, and your sink (or whatever else) is running slow......Boil up a big pot of water and pour it down the offending drain. The temp of the water is enough to beat the crap out of a lot of scum/grease/etc. But he was careful to point out not to do it if you have PVC DWV pipes- the 21 degree water will melt glue joints. Oh, he also said "don't chew your fingernails" whatever that means.
  24. Uhhhhh seeing that my backyard is approiximately 1/10th of an acre, my crop maintenance needs are not pressing at this time, so I am inclined to pass on this offer. I will however donate to the fuel costs to whoever purchases it for the purpose of driving it into the nearest ocean.
