  1. Stonco?
  2. Obviously you are confused. We're discussing Detroits here.
  3. He has a very hard time pressing down on the clutch though.....
  4. You need to get a hold of Mike Martinelli, E290L103@aol.com
  5. So "Medium" (age 9, soon to be 10) comes up to me at the beginning of the game and says "Hey Dad, what are we gonna do if the Patriots win?" I kinda shrug my shoulder and say "I dunno, what CAN we do?" He pauses for a minute and then says ....."Start a bar fight?" I blame gearhead, Hatcity, Otherdog, Freighttrain, 41Chevy, Mike69Mackman, Slpwlkr and JT for this.
  6. mmmmmmmmmm future prime rib....mmmmmmmmmmm
  7. I would have been shoveling sand into the intake
  8. Ever see the episode of mythbusters where they take a "J" size oxygen tank and turn it into a torpedo? Sheared the valve off and put it right through a block wall. '
  9. I have his phone number if you wanna give him a yell
  10. If this is what I think it was, it was a BLEVE- "Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion" which are very violent and destructive. In the fire service we jokingly refer to them as "Blast Leveling Everything Very Effectively" or "Big Loud Explosion Very Exciting." Basically what it is, is a vessel, with a fire surrounding it that is intense enough to heat up the liquid inside and boil it to the point where it gives off vapors- which of course pressurize the vessel if confined (no relief valve or malfunctioning valve) the vapors expand to the point where they cause the vessel to suffer a catastrophic failure, hence the big loud explosion with destructive power. The carbon fiber tank had nothing to do with it. Gearhead I dont know about out there, but here on this side of the world we have been using carbon fiber or fiberglass wrapped aluminum SCBA tanks for well over 15 years. That tank could have been made from cast iron or 1/4" thick stainless steel, it's still going to succumb to physics under the right conditions.
  11. :whistling:"for those of you on here that know me"................I don't know what you're talking about. No wait......Bias ply tires vs. Radial tires......YOU don't know what you're talking about!!! BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!!!!!
  12. I love that black and white combination. And the sound of the turbo brings back so many memories of my childhood, riding shotgun in my old man's two F-Models......I can't tell you how many times the whine of that turbo and the sound of the Robert Bosch injection put me to a happy sleep in the passenger seat, "riding with my daddy." I miss those days. I'm going to send these to him, he will enjoy.
  13. Check with Mack mhe9.......You might have to wait until he gets a load out that way, but he lives "in the general neighborhood" of Macungie.
  14. No thanks. If I'm getting divorced because I buy another vehicle project, I may as well do it in style and get an R, U or Hayward F Model.
  15. Mackdaddy, the gold leaf on the FWD has a clear vinyl overlay applied to it. You really have to look hard to see it. The old school way was to apply a clear finish which would have to be re-applied every few years, but the clear vinyl overlay is damn near indestructible.
  16. Yes, very definitely a repower. 700 Series ALF's ("The Bathtub) were commonly delivered with Continental (straight 8) or Lycoming (V12) power. Later in life when these engines grenaded or the owners wanted to upgrade to an oil burner, the 6V53 (unfortunately) was a common choice due to similar horsepower and torque curves as well as fitting in there without much shoehorning or other work. But a common theme was that they created a turtle (a loud, obnoxious one at that) that wouldn't get out of its own way as they went from a 3200rpm engine to a 2100 engine, and didn't have the money to swap out the rears.
  17. HUGE FIZZLE in the Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton Pa. Area. We had a grand total of maybe 2" which was all on the ground before 11pm last night. Now excuse me, I have some sick, twisted snow-loving friends I have to go talk off of a ledge and then take away their razor blades and shoe laces.

  19. Doing the happy dance here.......they have been downgrading here all evening, we've dropped to 4-8"........Not that I'm complaining..........
  20. Now if you REALLY wanna make your truck look sharp, get the lettering done in old-school burnished gold leaf.......
  21. You do realize of course, that if the FWD gets stuck (especially if all three differentials are locked) that we're I'm fooked.......right?
  22. Larry, I know....But the old girl is in pretty damn near "original" condition and the thought of salt under her girdle gives me the heebie-jeebies. But once or twice out in the deep snow in 14 years of ownership aint gonna kill her I guess........Too bad there aint a Leaktroit under the hood, then her underbritches would be nice and oiled up......
  23. Normally I don't take the FWD out in shitty weather, just because she's 55+ years old and I wanna have her last as long as possible....But this may call for a coming out, just to say I romped around with her in her natural element.....Just one time.
  24. I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm good once as I always was
  25. I gave her the best 36 seconds she ever had
