  1. Barry it wont let me post in the for sale section??? Built from 3 parts trucks started with a Reliable wrecking B model, used the frame from a Celli B model and a Cab that I brought home from Long Island NY Truck has a END711 (running) with a Quad box. Walking beam with 5.73 ratio Started out as a restoration but never finished it. Frame and cab were fully sandblasted and painted in 2004-05. New old stock doors and fenders bought so the sheet metal is in great shape. Interior is painted green and has a refurbished bench seat. all new glass ( vent windows need restored) will need some body work as the truck has been sitting out side. mainly just the back of the cab center and where the doors made contact with the cab channels. needs the trunion bolted back up as I was getting ready to pull it and swap in air ride. needs brake system hooked up as I removed the roto chambers to install spring brakes. new 12v starter with new alt lund visor new roof top marker lights engine has new hoses have alot of saved parts off the parts trucks to go with the truck. can be driven onto trailer. no title but can get a salvage title if it helps. Located in Volo IL $4500 OBO Trent 847 738 8569
  2. I remember 15 years ago 2.00 a mile was good. It paid fuel, tags ,plates and maintaince, with profit left over so you could own a home and see weekends... Now I see rates as low as 1.30 or team rates at 40 cpm. Fast forward to today where truck price,Fuel, tags and insurance has doubled. Yet the blind new drivers keep marching in to the slaughter house
  3. if you go on you tube there is a guy with his mack hauling out of a farm field. he goes up a ramp and gets the rear ends to bottom out on the RR axel stops!. then feathers the throttel near the top to get the front end back down softly.
  4. Yea. there were not without issues. Sheet metal was pretty bad around all the seams. only thing that was in ok shape was that the drivetrain was all intact. I later went to Celli yard and bought up some of their old alum 5 hole budd rims. they had some NOS B model doors and fenders as well. on another note 2 years ago they knocked down the C.T.C/ Northwest Mack building. They had a NOS F model day cab and some other parts in a trailer that was scraped. They did save the Bmodel water truck. It went to OE express in Wauconda. sits in their yard... Trent.
  5. hmmm. thats pretty low IMO... I get scared below 20-25psi hot idle. It can be a few things. not specific to your engine but what I have seen ... stuck press relief spring bad oil pump broken piston cooling jets clogged oil pump intake low oil oil pickup tube leaking (no suction.) thats a start but 5psi hot would scare me!
  6. ok how fun was it trying to get back in the cab to get your camera out? LOL
  7. Look in my Photo album.. theres a pic of 2 celli trucks I was able to save from the torch. Will also see 2 Tanzillo R models that we used to get the celli B models out of the field they were in. that same week the guy cut up 3 celli R models. I think we saved an A model as well? anyways they were taken about 8 years ago. I was able to use the Celli truck for its frame and misc parts. used a engine and trans out of my 1s Bmodel that was owned by Reliable wrecking Winfield ILL I also drove a ex Paulmbo R model for my first driving job. Red frame with orange and black paint. Was a 300 with a 6 speed 4.17 rears. Common speced R model. rode like crap but was a tank. there may be a pic of it in my album. if its there you will see a yellow R model with Kanzler on the side. other Chicago companys Prairie Plote Const Ozinga Meyer met AA conte Plaza Greco Sid kamp jack Gray (chicago?) Trent
  8. the 12 speed will also have stronger gears than the 18 speed... IMO the 12 speed is the best trans behind the 300-350 macks. drive like a 5 speed empty and can split them all when loaded. most times I would just run 1-2-3 in direct then split 4th and 5th. some times only needing to split 5th. great when trying to keep the RPMs up on a hill. or keep EGTs down.
  9. you can use the low low 1,2,3,4, 5th then grab direct to get 6 total forward gears but you cant "split" any of the 5 gears. Some say only use low low with first but I have never seen a problem with using low low thru the first 3 gears to get the speed going before you get into direct. Do be carfull trying to downshift from direct to low low. its not as forgiving as downshifting the main stick. Trent
  10. IIRC the frame on a DM was diffrent. it had a deeper section under the cab and then tapered back to a normal hight. the DM was basicly a heavy speced U model.
  11. Nice!!!!
  12. my 77RS700L left the factory at 15,500 with no fith wheel 6cyl,6 speed, tandem axel. the V8 is heavy so I would think in the 15,000-16,000 range
  13. 10 x 10 powered CL....now thats a truck...
  14. yea thats why I try to keep the Company truck in good condition.1997 IH 9400 eagle. Has almost 400,000K on her but that 550 cat and 18 pull the hills and get me where I want to go.. I can pass lots of empty company trucks climbing hills. slowest hill on any interstate I found was about 40MPH (going west).
  15. Very sorry to hear...know that we are here for you.. Trent.
  16. Man that sucks..wet grass and a big drop off super single. I'm sure as soon as it cut right it just pulled him in.
  17. Should also comment that you may want to add a 2nd fuel kill valve that can operate from the cab..if it runs away you don't want to be next to it trying to shut it down.
  18. Remove pump, have it calibrated on a pump bench to get max cc of fuel. If its a 350 you can get oversized plungers and that will really do the trick. raise the rpm to 2500 any more and you may need stiffer valve springs, Advance the pump timing a few degrees over stock. Make sure you have a pyro gauge. disable the puff limiter. If you can do all that you will have some good power to start with. To the point that you may need a diffrent turbo and injectors. Trent
  19. Hey Bill. Glad to see your back. sorry you have to part with your truck it is a very nice long hood R model. Hope to see you more around these message boards. Trent
  20. Great photos of the long hoods.. question..am I the only one that only disliked how Mack mounted the stacks on the later models..they put the stack right in line with the mirrors..made it hard for backing up the cab mounted stack had better placement imo.. Thanks for sharing
  21. Rip..he recently did a lot of work on his h model and I enjoyed hearing about its progress.
  22. I like that Green RD. has all the right specs for what it is doing. Price is too high for me but not out of line if its got that low of miles on it. you could not touch a new truck and trailer for that. you would be at least another 50k away.
  23. I want to say the puff limiters came on all the turbocharged engines. all the ones I have seen had the relay valve on the intake manafold. I do recall a early model that may have been located on the pump?
  24. I think your starving for air..not over fueling..what truck is this engine in..the 675/676 made around 23 psi of boost.
