  1. There was a guy from tx selling 2 styles of air cleaner straps on eBay a few months back. Might look there to see if be has listings.I almost bought some .Instead I just had my tip turbine air cleaner straps re chromed for 250.
  2. Got an air ride cab kit coming next week. That will help with the rear of cab vibrations. It also will get the metal radiator support rods that bolt to the firewall. I haven't replaced any motor mounts yet bit that would help.
  3. Another great deal with a great price. Phil followed up with some parts i needed. He sent photos of a air ride cab setup, emailed him back that I wanted it and had a tracking number 10 min later..that's service! Thanks again Phil!! His contact.....Phil@globaltrucktraders.com Trent
  4. I hope that is not a finished product.. it looks like a prototype model.
  5. Well I have put about 1000 miles in the truck with my 5" straight stacks..have to say that its not bad in the cab with all the sound deading I installed. The fire wall and floor let most of the noise in and I think some more improvement can be made mainly around the shift boots and steering shaft boot. I can't really feel the dab vibrate like I did before I had installed the sheets of dynamat. Now I just need some A/C in the cab!!!
  6. You should see some fuel spray when you crack louse an injector even when the engine spins at cranking rpm. Make sure the pump is getting fuel. If you have a hand primer pump it untill fuel comes out the return. May have a fuel pick up issue so add some fuel to the tank if its low...
  7. Larry. I built a amt ertl r model kit using that b model cab. It's nicely detailed. I also built up a Aussie valueliner.r model with ablebody sleeper and day cab superliner with resin parts..pretty cool what is out there today..
  8. Plastic on the frame to and from valves etc...rubber or some sort of flexible hose that will Händel movement from a frame located valve/fittings to an axel..that's what I have always done..
  9. I took a few pics when there..figures that most were not macks..but there were so few there this year.here are a few of the pics I took. The hand polished trailer was impressive!!!
  10. Left home at 5am Friday, got to the show around 9am.. walked around with some friends had lunch and was back on the road around 2pm..was a good time..sorry I missed you..
  11. Do you have a fitting on the oil pan?? That's where my temp sending unit is..and that's where I have seen others install them..
  12. Need to find the model of air ride you have then check the specs. Frame hight will depend on how the set up was built and where the drive line angles fall into place.. iirc 41" is normal frame hight for pulling van trailers but that is not to say it would not be +/- a few inches with odd specs or changed specs after it was built..???
  13. Boost leak??..12 psi sound low.. what's the boost spec for that engine...
  14. Dan I have seen sevral late model rs700l with the standard flat top hoods. Mine was built 10/77' and is flat. Have seen a few 76' with the ribs. I know this has come up a few times and recall Mack did it for added strength?? Seams no ryme or reason to why some trucks had the rib and others did not????
  15. Where have I seen that truck before???
  16. Looks like you need more fuel!..LOL were getting ready for pulling season here. We make 3 events each year and every one is a good time.
  17. Some of the dump trucks had that big rock gard overhanging the cab. Had to have a short 90 or weed burner. Also fumes were an issue to both you and that poor guy with his window down at a stop light LO.L
  18. I run straight stacks on a turbo 6cyl and it is not loud in the cab. If you want to reduce cab noise you will have to insulate it with foam rubber and sound deadner. The sheet metal acts like a drum head when nothing controls its resonance. Fire wall and floor has the most vibration.
  19. When i put power steering on my truck I had to cut down the shaft and then re weld it. If you can find any used shaft that is in good shape I think you would be able to have it milled down and re welded . the guy that made mine drilled a hole in the shafts where the new weld was and then was able to get better penatration for added safty. It will likely be cheeper than getting a new part. just my .02 Trent
  20. To be honest... I dont like the looks of the Volvo... suprise! That said I dont really dont like the looks of the new mack models. I just cant seam to get into the sloped hood look and bubble style. there is not much exterior parts that says "im a truck". I know The interior is nice engines seam to be good but the exterior styling is crap. Even the rear cab wall looks like that volvo,it has no style. If I was looking to get into over the road and wanted a truck that still had some style to it I would be looking at KW.even their aero trucks still have that truckly look to them. Shoot me if you want but there are not that many truck MFG left that consider putting classic style into their new models. that said I think Pete is a bandwagon truck, just like most of your Sunday Harley riders. its cool because everyone wants one. but they atleast they are keeping the classic looks around. ok... flame on!
  21. The one thing that I have noticed is that these older spring ride macks all seam to have that vibration from 30-40mph.. I hear lots of r model owners say the same thing. I think someone even said that a bad power divide can cause vibrations...my RS likes to buck when empty. The no air ride cab makes it worse. I tried new cab rubbers and shocks with no luck.. it seams that the spring ride and no air bags on the cab just makes for a harder ride than the newer trucks???
  22. Mack had a good file for the electronic motors but the epa put a stop to it 5-6 years ago. pissed a lot of owners off when a dealer reflashed the ecu without asking about it first. There are black boxes that claim 30% increase but the are pricy and moat times are just fooling the computer into thinking the engine is doing something its not..they do work bit you will have to watch the gauges to make sure the engine is not to hot
  23. No, that's way low.18-23 psi is normal boost.21 is about avg. turned up pump is 25 psi...Check the turbo like said above. I had a housing melt away allowing exhaust to bypass the blades and thus no boost over 14 psi could be made...
  24. Yea Mack lost a lot of sales in the 90s to other truck mfg due to poor warranty standards and limited truck models. The 12 speed was imo the best trans for a maxidyne.like you said...drive it like a 5 speed empty or split the last 2 holes when loaded. It had overdrive in 5th hi, or that deep deep reduction in that low hole gear on the dash switch... only thing that was a problem was the range selector clutch packs..always let the feats grind.
