  1. Who the hell is this guy with this ridiculous first post LOL???? coming to a mack truck forum to bitch about us "Mack guys" enjoying a pic of a mack locomotive pic you supposedly took ? A pic that was posted to the World wide web for all to see and share? . Not the brightest crayon in the box are ya? Just for that rant I'm going to share it to Facebook and if I'm bored I might hit up Instagram too ..... Let me know how the legal proceedings go so I can adjust my schedule...I have been real busy lately stealing online pictures ya know...make a killing selling them but that's another story. 10-4
  2. Pure example of a big company trying to force the little guys out and throw a wrench into their larger competitors
  3. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/ssmcollection?section=MACK+R+(1%3A16)&s=0 I have built 3 Mack R models with this guys stuff from shapeways.
  4. if it has the period correct luberfinder it likely has to fill up that whole filter assembly before you start to see any oil pressure. thats how it was on my END711. you might be able to pull the turbo oil feed hose and pressure the block with oil first if you want to play it safe? I think there are some aux ports on the side of the block as well where you could force oil into it?
  5. correct me if Im wrong but the disc brake pad does not have as much working surface area as drum brake shoes do. ? if that is true that can be why they wear out faster.
  6. saw this one in Dolton IL yesterday. Is this a HME?
  7. did you check the water pump to see if its pushing water? if its moving water and the belts are tight next. pressure test the system to see if you have a bad head gasket pushing air into the coolant? you would see soot and bubbles in the coolant. the weep hole is to allow air to bleed out of the system. it also helps keep the t-stat housing always full of water so that the t-stat will open and close at the correct temps. some t-stats have a small hole drilled in the ring. others may have a check ball. the reality is I have never noticed a car overheat because of the weep hole location. once the T-stat opens it lets out any air and the turbulent water should carry any air out of the housing.
  8. This was my Dads 76' R model with a fancy paint job pic was taken in 1980
  9. Well Cat is out of the class 8 market. so the reality is that Cummings is the next mfg that offers a big bore big HP engine. Mack and cummins have had a good history between each other thru the years and I see no reason why the option is not offered for big HP in a Mack. the thought that a company (volvo) is removing the whole big HP option is just a shot in their own foot. I still cant wrap my head around their thought process on this
  10. “We actually outpulled a 600-hp Cummins with a 505-hp Mack,” I think he meant we out geared the truck with a 600 cummins. A 600 cummins has 2050ftlbs of TQ where a Mack 505 only has 1860ft lbs. them automatics are fast but I dont see a 505 mack out pulling a 600 cummins on a long steady grade. I will believe it when I see it....
  11. another missed opportunity for Mack to be part of... Looks like Dan is doing just fine. good to hear.
  12. 4.64 rears with 43.4" tall tires with a .78 overdrive in 12 gear at 2100 RPM you will be at 74.95 MPH 1800RPM = 65mph https://spicerparts.com/calculators/transmission-ratio-rpm-calculator
  13. I wonder if the Allison is better than the Mdrive as far as performance and reliability?
  14. I still question why we have only seen about 5 pictures total of this truck? no close in detail photos or anything.
  15. I was line up at the stop light against a Boughton materials Mack today. That new truck had some serious get up and go and it was loaded. I was pretty impressed. I hear they Have the Mdrive transmission.
  16. I saw that DONEGAL EXCAVATING ("flat out sir") is also buying KWs for their tractors and roll offs. I think they were all mack up until recently.
  17. They built the Valueliner/RS600 and superliner at Macungie I dont think the Cruiseliner was built there... I do agree that they should have continued to build nicer OTR trucks. it seams that is the time when Pete and KW really pushed their way to the eastern markets.
  18. the western RS/RL FS/FL Radiators were different than standard east coast R models...
  19. Both eyes if im lucky enough !!!
  20. head lights are on!
  21. that does sound dumb....there is no logic in truck building these days. they have gone the way of the most complex route because it looks good on a computer screen.
  22. I think the CH was a good truck but not as good as the R model. I never liked the looks of it. I felt day cab models looked unfinished between the cab bottom and frame components. there were excessive gaps leaving things exposed and seen on the frame. I feel KW and Pete were better at locating air tanks, batteries and fuel tanks along the frame. the macks were over complicated. but just my opinion. the CL on the other hand looked better but i never realy studied them to see what set them apart besides a longer hood
  23. I have checked their site a few times after the release.. I was questioning why there was no mention of it yet. It seems this was almost a soft release to gain interest in the new model. Are they not ramped up yet for production?
  24. Its been about 10 years but on My Western RS700 I put on a power steering box that looks just like that. I recall the bolt needs to be out all the way to pull it off the shaft. the shaft has a indent all the way around that allows about 1/4 width of the bolt to sit in. that bolt prevents it from falling off if the clamping force weakens.. hope you can follow that... So basically you need to remove the bolt and it should slide right off without much trouble if you can already feel slop in it. try turninging the steering wheel and see if it gives you the needed room to pull the bolt out
