  1. Summertime is a fun time, except for working in it all the time. Maybe if I left now in my '52 ford I could make it to the truck show in time lol...I could meet up with Other dog and we could race up I-81. It would be like a J.B. Hunt & Schneider racing up a mountain, anyway I hope the show turns out good for you guys this year. Be good buddy

  2. Hate to hear about your garden, your gonna have to do those varmits like Bill Murray does on caddyshack.....anyway good pics, I wan't my smoker to be like that but I'm thinking about mounting mine on a trailer. Nice place you have there, plenty of shade I see. Have a good one buddy.

  3. that was mighty nice of you Joe,i'm sure that driver appreciated it. I had a load of paneling one time with stops in Covington, Pearisburg, and Dublin,Va. Got to the last stop in Dublin a little before 5 o'clock at a Lowes store and they said "sorry,we'll get you in the morning" but one guy said "i'll unload him,it's only a partial load, and I was just gonna go home and shoot some basketball anyway". Never did forget that, and it was years ago.

He told me he appreciated it alot, he was supposed to be there around 5:00 but got held up in alot of traffic. He called around 5:35 and said he was 20 miles away. After he got there he was gonna leave the trailer, I told him no need I'll help ya'. I told him about a fiend of mine in virginia does this all the time and don't get any help. Always nice to help a fellow driver though. Not his fault it's just what happens.

  4. Sounds like you've been busy this week, it's been pretty slow at the lumber yard this week. It's rained for the last 3 days, but is pretty today. Monday wll be a pain I'm figuring. Well tme to go grocery shopping ourselves.....Oh yeah thanks for the honor.

  5. Instead of sleeping in the truck all of the time, have you thought of leaving the lawn mower running and just parking it under your bed at home. Or you might just have Jo shake the bed and say buddin buddin buddin buddin till you get your nap out.

I just got in from mowing my grass. I worked on it for about 4 hours. That's pretty funny James.

4 hours?!! how much yard have you got, about 18 acres? You should get a goat or twelve to help you out.

I got about a hair under 2 acres. This is the first time it's been mowed all year. I used my uncles mower with the 25 horse motor and 54 inch cut, and it was touching the headlights in the back yard. I'm really thinking about gettin a goat or 2 to help clear off the rest of the property.

  6. Glad to hear you found another job Joe,hope you like it and it works out well for you. Do you get to pack a piece?..anyway,I don't know this "other dog" but i've heard he was a fine fellow, and a good role model. You heard anything?

p.s.-as Paul Van Scott would say "yeah-way off". What kind of truck are you delivering in,if any? If they gave you a wheelbarrow i'd quit.

Yeah I really like the job. I was working on another security job, but I think I'll hold onto this one. Yeah that other dog fellow is a pretty cool cat. Me him and his uncle bernie used to hang out at the bars all the time back in the day. Racing cars and so on. We have a S/10 pickup, '95 f-150, '96 chevy 1-ton, '91 chevy 2-ton, '89 chevy box van, and a big tandem axle chevrolet, but you gotta have a class B cdl to run it. I've been refreshening myself on the forklift to. Good thing is lowe's is moving into town in a few months so maybe I can try to get on there, who knows. See ya buddy.....

  8. The ElCamino's were pretty handy, if you

didn't mind the small cab, and the small pick-up

    box.

    I actually had two, a 1970 and a 1973. The 1970

    was a better vehicle.

Anyway Joe, don't you think Tom should step up to the

pump and spend some of his money to buy that green B-61?

See if you can convince him that he cannot take the money with him,

and that it will get moldy under his mattress and smell bad.

Yeah those mason jars and coffe cans are hard to find after awhile. I would hate to see the yard at his old house, probably looked like a family of gopher's lived there. I heard he only works just to pass the time....lol

  9. Tom,

    More nice cars!

    The 70' Chevelle's and ElCamino's were

favorites here too. (I had an ElCamino).

When you go to the classic car auctions and

shows, it's amazing how many of those 1970

Chevys are advertised today as LS-6 big block cars.

That seems funny, since Chevrolet only made a handful

    true LS-6 units!

Maybe the one I miss most was the '70 LT-1 Corvette.

It was the only year for the big horsepower, and it was

just a nice driving car. I couldn't afford it new,

but a few years back, I was lucky enough to have one for a while.

Anyway - you should inquire about that B Mack. You never know,

the owners might take some sympathy with your story, rather than

    just scrapping it.

    Paul VS

An El Camino is like a mullet to me, business up front...party in the back.

  10. Sad part was a seen about a 2003 Ford Focus one of the 2 door sporty model that had been rearended at the scrap yard. I seen 2 nova ss's, even a 40's chevrolet car. I hate to see ths happen to decent iron, but we can't save them all. Daddyslilgurl your like me I wished I would have grown up in the 60's and 70's. It was just cool..

  11. It's crazy how many good trucks and cars that are getting scrapped. When I hauled a load off the other day there was a 70's model international transtar 2 cab setting there "In suprisingly good shape". I tlk to the man who owns another scrap yard and he said he's seen nice stuff come in like flathead for motors to cars from the 1940's. Crazy how this is ended up.

  12. Nice avatar, I would still like to own that truck, but not able to right now. Prices have went ridiculous for cars anymore. We seen a '57 Bel-air nothing to special just nice wheels, disc brakes, etc. for $57k! I'll just stick with the good ole' 88 Suburban which is "pretty and still works" ... lol..

  13. Great pictures, When i get back in the routine of making a steady paycheck I'm gonna buy a scanner. I've got a few pics I'd likew to post on here. I dig the old school cummins hat your supporting in the pic of the christmas tree. My mom had a '70 nova 4 door 6 cyl. w/powerglide trans.. It was her graduation present she drove that car till about '98. The motor literally outlasted the car, the guys that got the car after us is runnin' the motor in another car and junked the rest. Just imagine if you still had that car...
