  1. oddly enough Joe I once googled "Cannonball"/tv series just to see what I could find on it,because i'd seen cannonball GMC's at Hank's and just barely remembered the tv show. I went through about 20 pages of websites before the tv series was ever mentioned, and when I finally did find it it said no episodes were known to exist today.I thought that was the end of that story, but it wasn't long after that when I saw the robert's hard to find videos "Cannonball" reference on BMT. I ordered 2 DVDs with 2 episodes on each of them, all that was available.

I just seen the website you was talking about and found the show. Might order the dvd's, cool to find something like that.

  2. I've seen Porky's but it's been years,White Line Fever was on tv not too long ago ( well, within the last year i'd say ) and I remember Movin' On and BJ and the Bear, but I didn't see BJ and the Bear much.I watched 'ol Sonny and Will regularly though. I you like really old trucking, I remember "Cannonball", a series from about 58-60. Two guys in a Cannonball GMC . I saw a reference to a site called "robert's hard to find videos" right here on BMT that still had a couple of episodes of it available so I ordered them. It's pretty neat just seeing that Cannonball Jimmy still trucking.

When dad was delivering hardware back in the mid nineties he would stay at a motel in hazard, Ky and one of their local stations would play bj and the bear. I never got to watch it but would like to see it. I remember 'ol Sonny and Will very well my sister used to make fun of me for watching it, but I loved every minute of it. That's when saved by the bell was the popular kids show and Movin' On would come on before it. I've heard about cannonball, but could never find much info about it. I remember first watching convoy it come on tbs and I was glued to the screen and loved every minute of it. I love old truck and shows about them. It's like i tell people, when kids my age was looking at Dr. Seuss book I was looking at the Truck Paper.

  3. We went one year and you would drive a little on the track then where the car's pit at, my mom and all the other women was like "wow look at the lights", but me and dad was like "look at the banking on this track". At the bristol drageway they have a suoer chevy show every year and man you talk about nice cars. I think some people would make you tarp the nastiest, corroded over, muddiest piece of steel out there just to be dumped in a land fill. If it was a part of my job I probably wouldn't mind it to much either, but it would take me awhile to get the hangs of things. I was starting to wonder about ya also. You usually beat me on here friday evenings. Do you get the rest of today off? If you can find those pictures it would be nice to see it again. It's been about 8 years since I last saw it.

  4. Everytime I hear Nazareth I think of the band. Anyways it sounded like you had an enjoyable week. The race season starts back in a feew weeks. Over at the bristol track around christmas time you can drive on the track, because it fully decorated with christmas lights. Those banks around the curves are higher than what people think. You was talking about racing, I wish they still had the big truck races around. I'd love to see that. I never was a fan of tarping myself, but some people don't mind it. We've had crazy weather here also. Last weekend in was 4 degrees when I left for work and this monday it's gonna be 60 degrees, that'll be a nice day. Anyway have a good one.

  5. No need to apologize Paul, that's the way it is nowadays everybody will ring your phone off the hook to ask 150 questions and don't even plan on buying the truck. It's like today I put my '52 ford on the swap shop this morning and not even 20 minutes later there was all kinds of people calling me wanting to know this and that. Out of 8 or 9 calls only one person made me an offer on it. Kinda ticked me off to. Sonds like that truck is specd. out nice. Glad too see the B-67 is coming along nicely. See Ya JOE

  6. Welcome to the site first off, and sorry to hear about your loss. Most dump trucks are spring suspension, but on the occasion you see one with an air ride. I don't think the truck will get stuck up because of air ride, the air ride is just for a cushier ride. Maybe somebody else will have a better opinion over mine though. Good luck with your business decisions. Try posting this question in the forum under "Driveline & Suspension". Good Luck

  7. Yeah Old Bill told me to chew lots of gum too. He was smoking 3 to 4 packs a day he said-nonfiltered. He must have had one lit the whole time he was awake to smoke that much, but he quit.

That's alot of cigarettes for one day. Glad to se he quit, I bet those non filters are harder on your lungs.

  8. Yeah, thanks for reminding me Joe,i'm outa' here tomorrow headed to Nazareth, Pa. then to parts unknown...always an unknown adventure ahead,at least I can come home and relax for a while...haven't smoked one since the last one,new years day I think.

Sorry, I know it sucks, anymore it seems like the only time I'm home is to sleep then back to doing something. Glad to see you are holding strong on smoking.

  9. Believe it or not my friends name is jim. He said he looked at the map and seen that hwy. 250 was leading to the town he was going to so he decided to take it. If you could have heard him going on about it. He said the worst part was it started raining hard and that fog was heavy so he was having a rough night all together. I'm trying to get ahold of him to see excatly where he was going to and I'll let you know.

Just talked to him he was in beverly at a armstrong wood plant.

  10. Hey Joe,how's it going? What's Parker and Paxton been up to,if anything? Parker called me the other day,I think it was Tuesday, and said Paxton had been picking on him. Paxton called Wednesday and said Parker had been teasing him . I told them both you'd get them straight this weekend. ( kidding of course...they called me,but didn't say anything about picking on or teasing each other :P )

Funny you should say that because they was laying side by side the other night and was pretty much slapping each other. Paxton figured out the tv has alot of colors and makes noise so his attention has been that this week. Parker still want's our attention constantly.

  11. oh,'52 F-600-what kind of shape is that in? I ain't got no money, just curious...got any pictures of it?

The cabover is a buddy of mine's, he only gave 5500.00 for the truck. It's got a 350 cummins and a 9 speed I believe. The '52 is in pretty decent shape, needs a cab corner, few little things here and there, but in overall decent condition. Flathead 6 cylinder 4 speed with a 2 speed rear, actually steers better than my toyota & nissan considering all 3 don't have power steering. I've been working on my big computer at home trying to make it faster so hopefully tonight it'll be back on the internet and I'll post some picture of the ford. I would like to hang onto the ford, because it's a neat old truck, but I would like to have a bigger truck to. Who knows I might keep it for a while longer, I only have about 400 dollars invested in the whole truck.

  12. Sounds like you've had a decently busy week. I hate them stupid dispatchers that think you can pull of a miracle to get their on time, they think because their not tired you shouldn't be either. One company dad worked for down here in town had a dispatcher like that and that's why dad and a few others left. Come to find out the dispatcher bought it from the owner, so I believe you know the rest of the story. Congratulations on being smoke free, and good luck.
Yes,that is correct-when I first went to work for H.H.Moore his grandsons Jeff and Todd were still in high school. When they were old enough they started driving, local at first, then long distance,so they know the deal. They realize that when they go home at 5 O'clock the drivers still have a days work to get done to deliver the next morning, something a lot of dispatchers seem to think happens by magic.

A buddy of mine was a driver for awhile then went to dispatching, and said some of the people in that office talks about drivers like they are dogs.. really pisses me off. I just talked to another buddy of mine and he's in west virginia, said he got off of interstate 81 @ exit 221 then went across hwy 250 into west virginia. He said it was pretty steep hills to get across, have you been through there? I was just wondering if it was as bad as he was letting on. Glad to know your boss realizes how it is not many does. See ya Buddy.

  14. C'mon man you can do it. Just try to keep your mind on other things, just block out smoking all together. One thing I learned from seeing my dad try to quit is, put one in your mouth when your so grouchy you hurt the people you love the most. My dad was a die-hard smoker, he could have quit if he tried hard enough, but he knew when he tried he would get aggrevated to easy. It's like me I'm down to one pop a day with caffeine. Didn't realize it though until a while back, all I drink is mug root beer and stuff like that and they don't containe caffeine. Just keep tryin' and we won't be mad at you if you wen't and got a pack right know, but atleast you are trying. That's the best way to start. Good Luck JOE

  15. Hey Joe,I hope Parker and Paxton are doing well...did you check out the youtube videos yet? I told you they were pretty bad,but everybody has seemed to like them. Makes me want to borrow Teresa's video camera and try it again.Should sound better anyway-I was surprised that little camera of mine picked up the sound as good as it did. Take care, catch you later.

I got 2 check out the first ones, but not the new ones yet. I brought my laptop to work with me tonight so I will get to watch all of them. The boys are fine know, but I'm coming down with a cold so.... See Ya Later JOE

P.S. I thought the first one was awesome.
