  8. Comes down to experience again in my mind and paying attention to details! You can't bandaid and cut corners too much on these engines it will come back to bite ya! If it says to do it a certain way you should probably do it that way! For the most part ! The Dam Special tools are a necessity not usually an option !You can try it with out but it will likley backfire! Is it just me or do I see a lot of aluminum filings on that sensor!??? You also hold in your hand a cause for a poor starting engine ! hopefully your not doing cups for nothing! Also is it possible that we have us another drive gear going south here? Was the engine making any rattle noise at the rear ???? Not trying to conger up fear or anything just askin! that sensor got hit by something! Much like My V8 project Chicken or the egg!?

    Well bro itโ€™s kinda visa/versa on that statement! Iffin I had the brain capability I would have learned that shit also so my hats off to them guys for leaning that stuff! That said if you donโ€™t have the mechanical end your kind of screwed just knowing the computer end! I had only removed a power tower once this way to re bush it! Never had a failure that put it a 1/4 turn out of time before! Spent a half hour primeing and checking lines and shit before checking the timing after finding the chip in the pump drive gear! Oh well! As for the mom situation it is that same issue with the hospital the backend doesnโ€™t know front end is doing! Itโ€™s the same game as working on stuff get a good doctor making the right calls you get a decent result if not your S -O-L

  12. I quite like the coolant sucker tank its real expensive It was a recommended essential tool at one point ! but a nice have if you do lots of cup jobs! Was a money maker tool for the Volvo turds at one point! Most of those essential tools are 200 percent Mark up tools to the dealer real criminal ! Now you now why the part of the reason shop rates are so dam high a lot promoted by the Mother ship! Shop around guys!

    There ya go buddy ! some pics not much to see! had a couple of hours today so got it to the point you see it at the bottom! The truck is a toy ! So I drained the oil rinsed the valley and front cover with varsol got the tower back on today depending on how stuff goes with Mom will shove the fuel pump p/s and compressor on next week Hopefully see how it goes ! first pic is the failed compressor , 2 is the fuel pump drive gear, 3 valley,4 old power tower 5 is the toy it self , 6 is the tower back on as it sits at the moment! I'm Going to change the pump gear and hope the pump cam didn't get bent, jam it in there and time it and hope for the best !

    i ll see what I can do Onyx There isn't much to see the rear compressor bearing went side ways and some pieces jammed the tower and slipped the gear on the drive tower vague info led me to start at the beginning! I ll see what I can do! got a good runner power tower and another good runner compressor to put on going to potter away at it this week and next he wanted to use it this week end ! I said Nope I'm RETIRED I'll getter done at my pace! Maybe next weekend! Yup at 93 Moms had a good run !Her mind has slipped bad and now the body is starting to fail! I kind of wish that she could have a compressor failure like the super dog ! Just quit! The state she is in right now is not good she's not suffering too bad But Its Not A nice thing to watch! Difference is the super dog will live to run another day ! She will not Physically! She will move on to what ever happens next! She is not eating but two table spoons per meal she is drinking water but that's it ! If you had a pet that was in her condition you would put it out of its misery! By what ever means ! Unfortunately that's not how we were raised and Her Lutheran back ground is solid! This here little job has helped me focus on other shit ! been nice to think about other stuff , other than the morbid stuff were going to have to deal with next! Think that's why I come here to start with makes me have to think when guys have problems with Macks or trucks in general I can Try think it thru and try to help out ! Takes me out of the Moment !

    Well weโ€™ve been having a bit of family issues these days we have my 93 year old mom in the hospital and travelling back and forth twice a day! So yesterday my old boss called having a no start issue with his super dog I rebuild about 7 years ago ! So I thought what the hell none of the kids at the shops he has have no diagnostics on old stuff so Iโ€™ll go out to look at it! So today I went out to it the boys couldnโ€™t tell me much other than it quit while idling for about half an hour! So start at the beginning prime it up got nothing no smoke zippo check fo fuel at the pump ok! The boss said he heard a clunking sound when he looked at it so l pull the fuel pump cover checked the drive gear it has a chip in hmmmm! Not good! Checked the timing by eye ball 0h boy !Miles off ! Started digging in to it took compressor off and the bearings had failed an peice had jam the gear an it slipped the gear on the power tower shaft ! Any way it was a decent reprieve from dealing with shit going on at home! And we got a few parts scrounged up to patch it up. here in lies the title of this thread just rambling.
  21. I highly doubt its the injection pump! Check the stuff Joe is mentioning ! Does it have A VMAC pump My Guess is yes! How ever! ? If its vmac is the check engine shut down lights coming on? low coolant (low or no oil pressure ) would allow the econovance to not work hence the smoke! check the oil level!
  22. Bro ! Check the ECU plugs for coolant push or oil push! un plug them and look for signs of this!

  24. Yup Its hard to fit a size 12 steel toe in there sometimes and its a tough chew ! I should maybe take my shoes off and try!๐Ÿ˜‚
