  1. So True Mark ! They are lickin their chops to bury this dog thing they bought into! That said they kept it going a lot longer than I expected! It will be much easier once they ditch the cab ! That way they just have a hood modification every couple of years to keep up with the times!😡
  2. Bummer Funny its usually one of the upper bearings that fail! How ever once if you switch you never look back ! The fuller is a far more dependable trans ! Worth the work in my mind! sorry Joe!😅 Finding a trans is the hard part! As Joe mentioned the rebuild is easy enough if they don't gouge to hard on the parts PAI is quite reasonable for parts ! question is Do you re use the synchro plates all the bits you replace can ad up to allot! Easy to look at it from our perspective as you pointed out Joe ! Looking at it from a reliability perspective the fuller 18 is more reliable !
  3. yup the trouble shoot is easy confirmation of the Odvious is always good! The oring kit is an easy fix is Long is it’s the old style piston not so easy if it has the new piston an nylon type seals!
  4. Troubleshoot! Remove front tube on the cylinder see if air is passing the oring inside first! Apply air to the back !Just sayin!
  5. Sure can taking it out is no mystery either just getter done!
  6. Are you sure its the trans making noise? What does it sound like?
  7. Last resort is taking the head off! Manifold off and welding a washer and nut on often works that said wait till it starts leaking! highly recommending Try the drill bit option first!
  8. When the mdrive first came to us we had guys breaking ujoints left and right for abit till they learned to drive them! We had the same guy break ujoints 5 times in the same climb trying to take a gear in the wrong spot on the hill!
  9. I tried also tried sneaking in a thou or two on a valve set didn’t really help! Can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear !the dynatard improved some with 4 valve head but not much! Power leash improved it hugely ! Sill weak compared to Cummins ! However displacement plays a part there!
  10. thanks TJC! you the MAN!
  11. I find it amazing how tough tranys can be period ! We had a fuller 15 sp come in with what looked to be small leak ! We decided to change the oil on it after the repair there was left in the bottom one litre of oil! had been running all day ! Boss said put oil in see how it goes! Trucks still going as far as I know That said it was a spare truck so not in constant use!
  12. Hi Bro! welcome to the site ! would you kindly post this in your own thread it will get a lot better press as a new topic also post your symptoms and what lead up to your issue! This is a real old post! This will encourage more help on the subject!
  13. The lash adjusters have a few orings i believe and one under the rockers pedestal is all used to be able to rebuild them if I remember then they were offered as complete units! as with most things now not likley to find any these days!
  14. Good find bro!
  15. I think if he has the time swap the bits over wouldn’t take more than 6 hrs and if it doesn’t work he still has a running engine don’t have to swap back!just leave it!the valve set is the same 16/24 just sayin
  16. That is very possible I heard the same as you but never confirmed it! Chances are your engine has the Dynatard cam and all you need is the push tubes and rocker gear to make it work And wiring of coarse ! If you have a donor engine you could swap the rockers and push tubes and see what happens! if you want to invest the time! Just sayin!
  17. So go to the front of the intake manifold and look at the bottom bolts they tend to break or come loose directly below were the /egr tube enters the manifold if bolts are missing check for a crack in the manifold at the bottom where the bolts are missing! A place to start!
  18. The only way I can think of is with a dial indicator on the exhaust push rod or rocker aad check for the dynatard bump on the back side of the cam!
  19. thanx for posting your fix bro!
  20. Lots of one hit wonders out there bro don’t sweat it!
