  1. To look At cups you need to put a clear hose on the return from the head to the tank ! It sounds like cups If it has no codes! Also sounds like they were chasing this before dumping the truck!
  2. True ! Usually the sycro is the main issue! If you have the two speed reverse don’t select hi while moving! Or have it programed out! It can create issues for the synchro ! By design the thing is very flimsy Shifting on the fly in reverse can cause the syncro cone to work loose from its hub! resulting in pre mature failure (Just An observation) ! You likly have a synchro issue there! The broken stop plate will show up as a code sooner or later if that is an issue you likely have a synchro issue! The trans will have to come out! Bunch of special tools to work on this trans! Have them check your clutch wear before the transmission is pulled you may just as well do the clutch if it is more than 50 percent worn !also in this country the trans had a 3 year 750000 Warranty ! how ever you are well beyond that category ! Note I'm no guru on these how ever seen a fair few of these fail under warranty and just out of warranty ! for the most part the trans has been pretty dependable as much as I hate to admit it! MACPRO ? Advice Please! Just sayin!
  3. Again My condolences to your family ! As I spoke before he will be sadly missed here At BMT ! A great Mind and And contributor to the BMT Site! Our Hearts are with you Julie!
  4. Agreed run it for awhile keep checking the oil in the morning and if it increases on the dip stick you’ll likely have your answer then you can start doing the testing!
  5. There is a stop plate in the lid that can fail also the synchro in these is sometimes problematic! the clutch valve is likely what you hear squeaking! Question is your trans set up with 2 speed reverse! ? Just sayin!
  6. They usually fail in this fashion the other thing that can happen is the drive gear can come loose but that is a failure that used to happen to the older style pump with out the filter head built into it! Maybe price the pump !BUT the parts cannon approach is not the way to go if that's what your thinking you need to verify if the fuel has indeed got into the oil ! OIl samples are cheap go to any equipment outlet they will likely have a sample kit If you have a CAT dealer near by stop and Get an SOS sample kit and get it done the longer you wait and mess around the longer it will take to get things up and running again! the halo test is a back yard test and works if you are familiar on what to look for do it on a piece of card board ! the sample will tell the tail of the oil pressure but NOT where it Came from! Bro just follow through with the tests that Joey has provided! If The pan is off all you need now is REGUTATED AIR 60-70 psi and eye balls to test! AND a little luck!
  7. Higher on the list as you have found bits in the filter!
  8. Yup Joe He needs to get on top of this fast! I went thru this with my Davey brown tractor and my buddy's Massey tractor last summer as well need to stay on top of this situation! When they changed to that filter/ combined pump is when the problem started! Very few failures up to that point! I believe he's chasing a dilution issue here how ever need to nail down from where!
  9. Test the system for leaks before throwing a turbo at it!the screw under the little cap two (screws ) adjusts the start point for boost build ! Take the little cap off and unlock that jam nut and turn the allen in a half turn to a turn! there is no timing advance on this engine if its mechanical At least non I have seen! It really sounds as thou your chasing a bad boost leak OR bad turbo! THAT SAID ! Check the compressor inlet hose at the manifold and the compressor ! Also I've seen AIR DRiers dump a Guys boost! If All else Fails Temporarily by pass the air drier if it has one ! join the two big hoses together at the bottom ! just something to try before you load the Turbo Ammo Into the parts Cannon !
  10. Joey I believe the secondary fuel filter is evidence of the pump failure however! You are the lead in this thread and are teaching the right troubleshooting path here!
  11. Chances are the pump we speak of here is suspect the test Joe is leading you to will likely show you what you need to know! Oil dilution can be caused by this pump as well that is why the dilution test is important!
  12. It will actually test the pump seal some what as well
  13. AS Milkman has said ! Do the oil sample asap You may have fuel dilution smell the dipstick for fuel! Then check the sensors against a good gauge as Joe has mentioned ! your description points us in this direction in my mind! Common Failures on these is Fuel Pump And EUP Seals! Just sayin!
  14. NO not necessarily! If its not putting out has little smoke then its a fueling issue! If you got a ton of smoke and not putting out then you have a turbo or boost leak issue! if you are not producing alot of smoke you have a fuel problem! when you removed top to slide the fuel plate did you happen to suck or blow on the LDA that you removed? This is the smoke control device ? if the diaphragm has a hole in it , it won't allow the engine to have full fuel! sucking or blowing on the fitting will determine if the diaphragm is OK! If you didn't check this you may have put the cart before the horse! As far as turning it up you only need to slide the plate 10 -20 thou to achieve a big gain on HP! More Fuel The more the boost !

    Old n new

yup the chances of any of this new stuff reaching 2o years old is slim!

    Old n new

    Yup pretty criminal!
  17. That new style blower motor is pretty junky chenged alot of these at our place!
  18. Yup I think Think your correct Mech! Scania had these and Mack latched on to the idea and ran with it! Mack and Scania Were Very Tight At one point Sharing Ideas ! V8 is other Example ! The block was a shared Item At one point I believe!
  19. yup I think that was its main function actually !It was often a thorn in the side when adjusting the clutch! It may have been the intention too some engineers attempt to piss the rest of us off! 😂 KW used put a big horse shoe bracket in this spot ! I do believe its there to help to support the frame somewhat! Rather useless!
  20. This would be a vmac setting I believe joe! 19 to 24 for mechanical!
  21. These things are another innovation that Volvo Bought with the Mack line and never ran with! it was used on the first MP7 for one model year and scraped ! The cenrimax filter is an assume concept It works like a hot dam! I have seen these completely plugged with carbon on neglected engines . I again fail to see why these guys didn't use the good ideas they bought when they took over the Mack line the list is long! Arrogance I suppose !
  22. Did you ever check for boost leaks?
  23. True!
  24. Different engine Bro!
  25. Yup totally agree on the pyro !
