  1. Griff if you want to try something unless they changed the design I was able to tighten the spring in the boost dump valve you may want to pop it back off and see if that is still doable!?
  2. So check your tank vent make sure the fuel tank is getting vented! Make sure you listen for a sucking sound when you remove the lid if you hear a woosssh the vent is plugged!
  3. 150000 miles! I would try do the head gasket! I have seen these go 30000 plus hours ! Check the block for crack’s if it’s ok do the head gasket just my opinion!
  4. You did good replacing that bypass valve they were made to start reliving around 20 psi it sounds to me that ! That new valve stuck for the first bit! I did alot of messing about with these when the engine first appeared on the seen ! I corked that bypass off completely on one truck ! The Vgt will generate WAY MORE air than that engine needs regardless of fuel ! It will pound the boost gauge to the MAX on a regular basis! The valve is meant to protect the turbo from Over Spooling and God Knows these turbos had a bunch of issues in the beginning! That said The EGR valve stuck open is another thing that could have been happening here ! Don't know give the stuff Joey has presented A try ! Keep us posted!
  5. I suggest you stand and stare a both the engines side by side compare stuff ! An engine is not just an engine! They are sometimes model specific ! Different accessory's fan hub heights P/s pump placement front mount arrangement lots of subtle stuff as stated the donor truck is going to help if its the same model ! The job is doable to some degree ! but May be a real pain!
  6. yup pretty useless bunch!
  7. Yup we used to order the V8 cam and turbo for the 650 horse useing this method good call MP If its possible thru the dumbass parts system they are using!
  8. Yup Watch your step pal! I find I'm Quite clumsy on my feet these Days! Even when I can see where I'm going! 🤣
  9. So Paul I had a quick look at the tractor this morning ! The PTO lever was at half mast! half in half out! would this cause the issue We were having with the 3 point? I will give it a try later today I guess I'm really curious why only reverse it would work, weird! The PTO has a cover over it appears it wasn't in use!
  10. Paul the lever is all the way back! the 3 point functions with no load in the shop the three point will lift a decent size log when the tractor is in reverse ! When you select a forward gear in first and low and let the clutch out it will drop the log and you now have no traction to move it! a real odd situation in my mind! My davey brown wont balk at doing this only I have no counter weigh with davey it has you looking skyward ! The furg has a loader more weight on the front! I 'm wondering if the valve block is shuffling in the bottom and bumping up against the draft control lever?when in a forward gear!
  11. So another issue has surfaced with the massy here the three point hitch will only lift weight backing up! Soon as you pick a forward gear and let the clutch out to move forward the load drop s any ideas on this!
  12. Can you work its ass? Running at an idle is not the greatest!
  13. Stat first 150 to cold! How long are you running it? need to get it hot!
  14. WELL ! Bet you slept well last nite Joey! 😅 Obviously the shop doing the job, did not, if they care! Like Onyx says done one you done ten! How ever again this comes down to experience attention to detail and patience! Also did these guys confirm the cups were fubar! was there evidence of the injectors dancing , carbon build up,cracks etc. Did they follow all the steps did the use the magic grease on the seal? ! There are lots of ways to beat the book time skip the tune up portion of the job bla bla bla ! that said do you want to be the guy that's doing it twice? Micro cracks on the injectors is quite common did they re use the injectors ? Likley! These arn't your garden variety 400 cummins that any jackass can replace an injector! they are temperamental you have to pay attention on how you work on them mainly to the half baked fuel system design ! SO Follow procedure and things should go ok AS long as you don't miss something !They changed from the copper cups to stainless how ever it only half assed fixed the problem ! The design is flawed as I have said before ! How ever it is work for people as long as its done right! If everything was perfect on these, guys like Pro, Onyx wouldn't have a job! If these engines had a proper fuel system on them they would be bullet proof! And they wouldn't sell any parts! 🤣 also if it weren't this problem I'm sure something else would come up!
  15. Yup get on it!
  16. Yup same to everyone here happy year folks ! Joe you’re doing the right thing bro stick with what you know! You need to embrace this new stuff and sort of believe in it! Don’t know about you but myself ! I don’t! It’s Too fragile and temperamental! 😂
  17. Yup keep up the posts! Un fortunately It may have been worth the wait to go to a dealer! As mentioned its its best to replace injectors and cups for this very reason ! Doing it twice ! Same as doing it your self! So much tinkery ass shit to be aware of! Constantly moving goal posts!

Onyx! You are Totally correct! (Hate to admit it 🙂) Crying over spilt milk! Got to get on with some sort of fix here if We can ! So again! from my side walk super intendant point of view! I have heard this compliant before! I remember the guys checking for boost leaks ,exhaust leaks , another situation is the the 7th injector fouled (they replaced that )and the Turbo starting to stick if I remember correctly also the diff sensor clogging opening the egr valve to much to compensate for the clog! in turn polluting the cat with more carbon hence a necessary P-R in very shot order! point is something up stream is likely causing the issue just got to find it! Look for any broken intake bolts just below the front where the EGR comes in , a crack in the intake manifold in that same area .just look for stuff you can find yoursellf! I'll refrain from mentioning all the pricey shit that could happen here and focus on the semi cheap and easy stuff! I 'm sure Onyx and pro will set me straight here but you got to try stuff and look for stuff your self at times ! Another place to look for leaks is the flex from the turbo to the cat they crack a fare bit! The more expensive stuff like engine brake slaves protruding causing an in complete burn , injectors going bad Creating soot , turbo sticking . Long list ! Need to start ruling out stuff!
  20. Yup it’s a constant battle! This Volvo outfit is organized like a shit fight no foresight ! The parts system sucks you got to be a guru to run it! You need a degree if want to run it! And still can’t find stuff. There was a reason for prefixes in the part system the Mack system was way superior to the current Volvo rubish ! Even us dumb mechanics could find parts with the old system!

Have you changed you air drier cartridge lately? If not do so! Wet air can take out the hi module! This is just a comment not a fix for your issue! It all could come down to where you were driving lately long drives heavy loads keep the regens away! As stated!
  22. My Davey brown had a clutch switch!
  23. Yup 👍 good news thanks for posting the fix!
