i ll see what I can do Onyx There isn't much to see the rear compressor bearing went side ways and some pieces jammed the tower and slipped the gear on the drive tower vague info led me to start at the beginning! I ll see what I can do! got a good runner power tower and another good runner compressor to put on going to potter away at it this week and next he wanted to use it this week end ! I said Nope I'm RETIRED I'll getter done at my pace! Maybe next weekend! Yup at 93 Moms had a good run !Her mind has slipped bad and now the body is starting to fail! I kind of wish that she could have a compressor failure like the super dog ! Just quit! The state she is in right now is not good she's not suffering too bad But Its Not A nice thing to watch! Difference is the super dog will live to run another day ! She will not Physically! She will move on to what ever happens next! She is not eating but two table spoons per meal she is drinking water but that's it ! If you had a pet that was in her condition you would put it out of its misery! By what ever means ! Unfortunately that's not how we were raised and Her Lutheran back ground is solid! This here little job has helped me focus on other shit ! been nice to think about other stuff , other than the morbid stuff were going to have to deal with next! Think that's why I come here to start with makes me have to think when guys have problems with Macks or trucks in general I can Try think it thru and try to help out ! Takes me out of the Moment !

    V8 Theropy

Well we’ve been having a bit of family issues these days we have my 93 year old mom in the hospital and travelling back and forth twice a day! So yesterday my old boss called having a no start issue with his super dog I rebuild about 7 years ago ! So I thought what the hell none of the kids at the shops he has have no diagnostics on old stuff so I’ll go out to look at it! So today I went out to it the boys couldn’t tell me much other than it quit while idling for about half an hour! So start at the beginning prime it up got nothing no smoke zippo check fo fuel at the pump ok! The boss said he heard a clunking sound when he looked at it so l pull the fuel pump cover checked the drive gear it has a chip in hmmmm! Not good! Checked the timing by eye ball 0h boy !Miles off ! Started digging in to it took compressor off and the bearings had failed an peice had jam the gear an it slipped the gear on the power tower shaft ! Any way it was a decent reprieve from dealing with shit going on at home! And we got a few parts scrounged up to patch it up. here in lies the title of this thread just rambling.
  4. I highly doubt its the injection pump! Check the stuff Joe is mentioning ! Does it have A VMAC pump My Guess is yes! How ever! ? If its vmac is the check engine shut down lights coming on? low coolant (low or no oil pressure ) would allow the econovance to not work hence the smoke! check the oil level!
  5. Bro ! Check the ECU plugs for coolant push or oil push! un plug them and look for signs of this!
  6. Keep up the good work ! Copper is worth a fortune You will be able to retire early if you time it right and the copper prices are up! 😂
  7. Yup Its hard to fit a size 12 steel toe in there sometimes and its a tough chew ! I should maybe take my shoes off and try!😂
  8. You might want to go on a service call to the land of Auz Buddy!
  9. Yup me dumb like stick bro didn’t remember the rocker scenario! Oh well like I said am no guru on this red stuff! Didn’t get to involved Thankfully!😌
  10. Pull the cap off the crank case vent see if it’s slimy!
  11. Note if you do any type of taping on on these be sure to have the valves closed on each cylinder your working on and blow that cylinder out clean befor moving to the next! there have been a fare few turbo failures due to fragments after doing this job! Joeys ready rod trick may be worth a go there some big washers on top to wined on makes good sense! Just sayin!
  12. Yup to both! If you are going to do it this way follow Joe’s instructions there ! I’m am an island guy! I suggest you put the wiper ring on before you install the seal housing small amount of silicone on the crank thin skim!
  13. OTC T30 tire bar works best just the right hook angle but on e6 you need to be careful where you pry the seal housing is aluminum pry next to a bolt! works on E9 E7 E6 just be careful with aluminum bell housings!
  14. BIG PAN ! Before you waste money on an oil change get a sample done it maybe you can get by till your next service! a small amount of fuel will not hamper things much!
  15. Yup its Sad that The big V in All there Wisdom Have not installed a Electric fuel pump! Instead of that medieval dinky chainsaw primer to the dollar store HPCR!
  16. Yup I have re used these many times as It usually entailed going on a rd side or up some dog trail to rescue ! you might also consider an oil change as there has likely been some fuel dilution as Joe mentioned also a core charge you should get the cal code installed at some point also not crucial but !!!!! just sayin! I believe it comes down to bolt quality how ever number 5 , 6 is a bit of an anomaly for sure! have seen others fail! just not as often! This also seems to happen to the AI More than the AC from my observation! This comes down to dollar store parts again! just like rocker bolts there were a rash of broken rocker bolts due to poor quality at one point! Aside from the fact the bolt size should have been one size up! under engineered! The origanal design e6 e9 all had 7/16 bolts and only ever seen one break once! why they went to a smaller bolt is kind of a mystery to me How EVER I can't even blame Volvo for this short coming! 🤣
  17. So you have what you have for suspension! Z leaf in my opinion is a road tractor suspension and piss pooor at that job!usually loose within the first year of operation! Unfortunately your stuck with it u got to work with what you have ! I have rebuild a fare few of these an if it hasn’t been said already you need to check the u bolts daily! They are prone to coming loose ! Even new and used for a road tractor they a border line suspension! For dump application you need to keep at it! just sayin!
  18. On ac engine they are all not nice!specially the front! Ai are a cake walk!
  19. Agree some weird reason 5-6 seen it lots!
  20. But WAIT! For just An extra 290.95 you can have a truck load! Some exclusions Apply! ( Shipping extra! ) 😅 Yup your looking dapper bro!
  21. Cups and injectors is Best! Just cups an ok solution as long as THEY know what they are looking at! just my opinion.
  22. The Actual MACK software is good it lets you change all sorts of stuff you can tick of the type of fan, the type of engine brake ! trouble is Volvo would like to bury this stuff They don't want you fixing it! The prolink is good up to a point I didn't let you see everything! I much rather us the prolink for most diagnosis on older stuff No long boot up times just get in get out! Its limited to what stuff you can change however!
  23. Check for a TSB on this Volvo and Mack had an issue with wipers stopping mid stroke on quite a few Trucks ! We had a rash of them at one point it may be a wiring issue! Sorry I don't know the fix I never heard the out come on this!
  24. Good possibility the boost sensor could change the Game! We accidently installed a MP 8 boost sensor in an MP10 once ! That truck turned from mild mannered Clark Kent to Super man in an instant ! It was a low bed tractor that you could pull stumps with! Truck was still under warranty so we didn't leave it like that but it was and Eye opener!
