  1. It will actually test the pump seal some what as well
  2. AS Milkman has said ! Do the oil sample asap You may have fuel dilution smell the dipstick for fuel! Then check the sensors against a good gauge as Joe has mentioned ! your description points us in this direction in my mind! Common Failures on these is Fuel Pump And EUP Seals! Just sayin!
  3. NO not necessarily! If its not putting out has little smoke then its a fueling issue! If you got a ton of smoke and not putting out then you have a turbo or boost leak issue! if you are not producing alot of smoke you have a fuel problem! when you removed top to slide the fuel plate did you happen to suck or blow on the LDA that you removed? This is the smoke control device ? if the diaphragm has a hole in it , it won't allow the engine to have full fuel! sucking or blowing on the fitting will determine if the diaphragm is OK! If you didn't check this you may have put the cart before the horse! As far as turning it up you only need to slide the plate 10 -20 thou to achieve a big gain on HP! More Fuel The more the boost !

    Yup pretty criminal!
  6. That new style blower motor is pretty junky chenged alot of these at our place!
  7. Yup I think Think your correct Mech! Scania had these and Mack latched on to the idea and ran with it! Mack and Scania Were Very Tight At one point Sharing Ideas ! V8 is other Example ! The block was a shared Item At one point I believe!
  8. yup I think that was its main function actually !It was often a thorn in the side when adjusting the clutch! It may have been the intention too some engineers attempt to piss the rest of us off! 😂 KW used put a big horse shoe bracket in this spot ! I do believe its there to help to support the frame somewhat! Rather useless!
  9. This would be a vmac setting I believe joe! 19 to 24 for mechanical!
  10. These things are another innovation that Volvo Bought with the Mack line and never ran with! it was used on the first MP7 for one model year and scraped ! The cenrimax filter is an assume concept It works like a hot dam! I have seen these completely plugged with carbon on neglected engines . I again fail to see why these guys didn't use the good ideas they bought when they took over the Mack line the list is long! Arrogance I suppose !
  11. Did you ever check for boost leaks?
  12. True!
  13. Different engine Bro!
  14. Yup totally agree on the pyro !
  15. (New filters when it started acting up???????) Is it possible we got a bad filter here?
  16. check tank vent!
  17. Check for combustion gas in the rad you may have low liner protusion !
  18. In defense of the tech dude we have all been there with this electrical shit you can spend alot of time chasing ghosts! If dumping the protection mode got the unit workable maybe he did him a favor! Duno! there are so many dam parameters in that programing stuff Its hard to know if something hadn't got corrupted!
  19. no bro no delete to my knowledge
  20. Edpm check the fuses and breakers next to the clutch pedal for green ness! Just something to look for!
  21. Some models newer 2000 new don’t do the tack thing not varied me me though! rumor
  22. If it cranks and won't fire ! There's some parts canon ammo that isn't to expensive! replace the crank sensor! this on these have been known to fail ! won't throw any codes! Experience Based comment! Just sayin!
  23. Agree totally ! we had a 3406 come in pushing coolant! the guys were going to throw a compressor at it cause it looked like it was over heated the paint was dark colored! I had just come to work was about to start my day and I over heard the conversation of why it was in the shop. I expressed my concern that if it looked overheated then maybe you should check the coolant lines in and out of the compressor! Response was Oh That's likely a good Idea hadn't thought of that!!! and sure enough! they learned something !! Had I not mentioned that we would have ended up eating a compressor job cause they wouldn't have checked the why portion of the job ! you also end up with a Pissed off customer that may or may not come back ! You can't attack a job like this with Blinders on ! Tunnel vision and parts Canons are not suitable in a diagnostic situation! Its A LAST resort ! I personally like to have customers that swear by me not AT ME! 😅
  24. Huge amount of respect for Glenn ! Condolences to the family ! Will be totally missed here! Huge contributor to this site as well!
  25. Bro All the recent throw out bearings come with top and bottom nipples if that's what your talking about? That appears to be an easy pedal clutch its a bit hard to tell with out turning it a bit But its a pretty recent clutch! in my opinion he needs to rid the area of them two fiber plates! I am not a fan of them snap over brakes seen a few fall out or the tabs can break ! But that's me, I prefer the aluminum Eaton one ! That said You have to be real particular how you adjust the clutch brake with them real sensitive to how much pressure gets put on them!
