  1. That is weird the last truck we had at our shop dropped a piece ended up taking out the piston, liner , head and turbo! No# 5 and one other #5 seen it happen to other cyls as well don't think its Cyl Selective! just shit happens! I do however think it is worse if engines are deleted and don't get programed correctly for the delete ! I have seen a half dosen ISX heads ruined by it!
  2. Yup agree might learn something !
  3. Don’t cut em just pick ‘em and place em on the mill!
  4. That there is the finished product less a bit of grinding! Make s the forks and bucket more adjustable
  5. Yup so your on my permanent like list Onyx also no more likes today.🙏
  6. Agreed ! you also can bring lots to the table! hangout bro!
  7. k intermittent issues with valves ! Not unusual ! Shit happens!
  8. Our pickup is a 2002 dakota got 35000 miles on it 70000 KMs our measure! Don't want to bastardize it with a bush bumper! not deep into the 4 wheel thing!
  9. Yup OK your on my permanent like list too Buddy I'm out of likes ! JB Weld maybe? Don't need a helmet for this stuff! see still on track ! WEL were still on topic just a little side tracked maybe!
  10. I guy would think if the rod or rocker deal happened there would be evidence that would show on that push tube! even a chunk off the side of a lifter! No likes here either buddy all done for the day! Consider your self permeant on my like list! 😂 ChallengeDave defiantly picked the right handle here! he is definitely up to the challenge
  11. Debating on sending out the injectors and maybe the pump. but I'm not real convinced of that yet. By your description of the issue nor am I ! popping out the intake would have been a classic failed lifter or bent push tube on number 1 exhaust back in the day !
  12. I can see your all over this! and you probably already looked But Question? Does The intake yoke have a guide pin? is it intact! I know they did away with the guide pin on one or the other at one point! Mental block here! Have seen guide pins break as well!
  13. Yup agree ! I haven't had a flash in years the sand in the eyes not a comfortable situation ! However haven't been welding as much the last ten years!
  14. The Bosch pump did have an issue that would cause an miss when the delivery valve washer on number 1 would crack ! but is sounds like something not sealing Or a stuck injector! but usually you get black exhaust smoke with that! not a pop back thru the intake! If you have a fuel shop near by have the injector tested! Either way keep us up to date! very interesting issue!
  15. ODD! Sounds like you have a good handle on this ! So did you inspect the push tubes ! Do we have a loose ball end? There may be a REMOTE possibility the lifter is sticking in the bore ! I Seen rockers stick before !Dri rocker syndrome!
  16. Do you have an auto dark helmet ! I find that helps alot! you can adjust the darkness on mine !
  17. Bro ! Check the valve set first If the valve set is correct and you got your 16/24 or close then maybe there is a burned valve! or a chunk out of the valve seat on that cyl! again I hardly believe its not an rebuilders error more of an parts malfunction! These rarely failed a lifter but anything is possible ! I have heard rumor's here on the site of sticky valve guides I have never run into in our area how ever Shit happens! It the valve set is off then the head will likely be coming off! Please keep us posted It helps everyone gain knowledge!
  18. I Emailed Barry last weekend about that ! He mailed me back saying one of the site certificates had expired ! If your ever in doubt go to the Watts email and shoot him a message! Good People at the helm here! Barry put alot of work and thought into this site well done!
  19. Yup by one kit you'll see what is going on and you can do the rest of the fleet quite cheaply by your own ingenuity! its not rocket science! won't cast hardly anything! an hour or two of your time!
  20. We will see tomorrow Joe I’m sure he will post his findings! If it is the lifter / cam failure it is definitely nothing to do with his rebuild skills! And more on what you mentioned overspeed !There is a remote possibility it’s a valve issue!
  21. The new style lifters seldom failed but if it came as a whole piece it definitely would not come out the pan plug !
  22. yup sleep is good! Just one more thing check the valve set on that cylinder it will be loose on the exhaust if the lifter has failed!
  23. Check for a bent push rod also!
