  1. BIG PAN ! Before you waste money on an oil change get a sample done it maybe you can get by till your next service! a small amount of fuel will not hamper things much!
  2. Yup its Sad that The big V in All there Wisdom Have not installed a Electric fuel pump! Instead of that medieval dinky chainsaw primer to the dollar store HPCR!
  3. Yup I have re used these many times as It usually entailed going on a rd side or up some dog trail to rescue ! you might also consider an oil change as there has likely been some fuel dilution as Joe mentioned also a core charge you should get the cal code installed at some point also not crucial but !!!!! just sayin! I believe it comes down to bolt quality how ever number 5 , 6 is a bit of an anomaly for sure! have seen others fail! just not as often! This also seems to happen to the AI More than the AC from my observation! This comes down to dollar store parts again! just like rocker bolts there were a rash of broken rocker bolts due to poor quality at one point! Aside from the fact the bolt size should have been one size up! under engineered! The origanal design e6 e9 all had 7/16 bolts and only ever seen one break once! why they went to a smaller bolt is kind of a mystery to me How EVER I can't even blame Volvo for this short coming! 🤣
  4. So you have what you have for suspension! Z leaf in my opinion is a road tractor suspension and piss pooor at that job!usually loose within the first year of operation! Unfortunately your stuck with it u got to work with what you have ! I have rebuild a fare few of these an if it hasn’t been said already you need to check the u bolts daily! They are prone to coming loose ! Even new and used for a road tractor they a border line suspension! For dump application you need to keep at it! just sayin!
  5. On ac engine they are all not nice!specially the front! Ai are a cake walk!
  6. Agree some weird reason 5-6 seen it lots!
  7. But WAIT! For just An extra 290.95 you can have a truck load! Some exclusions Apply! ( Shipping extra! ) 😅 Yup your looking dapper bro!
  8. Cups and injectors is Best! Just cups an ok solution as long as THEY know what they are looking at! just my opinion.
  9. The Actual MACK software is good it lets you change all sorts of stuff you can tick of the type of fan, the type of engine brake ! trouble is Volvo would like to bury this stuff They don't want you fixing it! The prolink is good up to a point I didn't let you see everything! I much rather us the prolink for most diagnosis on older stuff No long boot up times just get in get out! Its limited to what stuff you can change however!
  10. Check for a TSB on this Volvo and Mack had an issue with wipers stopping mid stroke on quite a few Trucks ! We had a rash of them at one point it may be a wiring issue! Sorry I don't know the fix I never heard the out come on this!
  11. Good possibility the boost sensor could change the Game! We accidently installed a MP 8 boost sensor in an MP10 once ! That truck turned from mild mannered Clark Kent to Super man in an instant ! It was a low bed tractor that you could pull stumps with! Truck was still under warranty so we didn't leave it like that but it was and Eye opener!
  12. Yup! Just like a Ubolt is a spring Clip! Dumb ass vocabulary ! (Swedish ) That is the best thing for checking THE WHOLE system right there ! At one point in the engine cycle if you get it in the right spot in engine rotation .you can acheive almost full seal and build the intake pressure to operating pressure with shop air ! only done it once on an MP engine it does work! But used this set up on V8 and E7 all the time !
  13. Agreed! Some are just nurses ! Some just plain Parts Chuckers! And some times you need to go with your best guess we all been there ! That said comes down to Experiences !More experience more knowledge gained! We had a few guys that had a real decent handle on what the ECU wanted to see and went in search of the parameters before pulling out the Parts cannon and usually even if the engine was deleted could get to a reasonably quick repair! But you have to be reasonably good at listening to what the operator is saying and sometimes they don't reveal the whole story ! We see it here All the time! Only part of the story!
  14. These were a comparable decent engine in my mind to E7 ! They had it over the e7 in the engine brake Department! I heard rumor's that an in frame could be accomplished in an 8 hour shift in some applications!
  15. I to assume they are doing the right things! That said when I see the parts cannon being used I sometimes wonder!?
  16. So it looks to me they have been using the parts canon to a great degree here! I'm not the guru here how ever! A question for( MP or OXY )do you have to do a learned data reset with a turbo change? Also don't see anywhere where they checked the valve set are Engine brake slaves OK? That said the truck hasn't been asking to frequent regens which would accompany a turbo issue usually! if so wonder if they are doing so!
  17. To some degree ! The e7 block is a more durable design! Pushing the e6 beyond 300 is a crap shoot!
  18. YUP ! First and foremost if u get a call from a computer ! It answers you in a computer voice for instance - ( This is a call from the Fraud Dept from any bank or instatution!) Hang up ! Just a BULLSHIT Call ! I have a whole list of BS numbers in my phone! That said! they now got tech that will show a call as being local even if they are calling from india! So call blocking isn't an option these assholes are just phishing for anything to exploit! JUST HANG UP! If it is important they will have a REAL person Call and as you said Call the institution your self to be sure can't be to careful! They are banking on Panic ! On your part don't take the bait! Just Don't !Same with texts and emails Don't click on links don't Reply just delete and phone them if your worried! and get your phone number from a reputable source!
  19. Griff if you want to try something unless they changed the design I was able to tighten the spring in the boost dump valve you may want to pop it back off and see if that is still doable!?
  20. So check your tank vent make sure the fuel tank is getting vented! Make sure you listen for a sucking sound when you remove the lid if you hear a woosssh the vent is plugged!
  21. 150000 miles! I would try do the head gasket! I have seen these go 30000 plus hours ! Check the block for crack’s if it’s ok do the head gasket just my opinion!
  22. You did good replacing that bypass valve they were made to start reliving around 20 psi it sounds to me that ! That new valve stuck for the first bit! I did alot of messing about with these when the engine first appeared on the seen ! I corked that bypass off completely on one truck ! The Vgt will generate WAY MORE air than that engine needs regardless of fuel ! It will pound the boost gauge to the MAX on a regular basis! The valve is meant to protect the turbo from Over Spooling and God Knows these turbos had a bunch of issues in the beginning! That said The EGR valve stuck open is another thing that could have been happening here ! Don't know give the stuff Joey has presented A try ! Keep us posted!
  23. I suggest you stand and stare a both the engines side by side compare stuff ! An engine is not just an engine! They are sometimes model specific ! Different accessory's fan hub heights P/s pump placement front mount arrangement lots of subtle stuff as stated the donor truck is going to help if its the same model ! The job is doable to some degree ! but May be a real pain!
  24. yup pretty useless bunch!
