  1. You have a alotof teat to do before some jumps in here and tells you to start replceing some parts that may not be bad but I can give you a list of test to run just like s real mechanic will have to to tell you the problem test these things Check for full throttle Check fuel pressure to the injection pump under load set vales check timing check the diaphram in the anti puff limter or what ever it is called now Test the air/air for leaks all the way up to the manifold check air cleaner pull both ends off of turbo and check turbo only takes a few seconds make sure the clutch ant sliping under power then check boost press. under load and see what that engine family requires make sure engine is running hot enough
  2. The oil filter was on left side and in 1964 there was ony one filt and it was the full flow/ by/pass combinaion and it will have 2 big oil lines and 1 small oin line and the starter would be on the lower right from factory so it will have a later engine in it which is good may be a ENDT675
  3. That trans has no front seal it has a reverse thread om the input shaft.
  4. I say endt675 if you bont need big power very goog engine untill fuel is set up too much
  5. Camshaft will be the same on both engines but give us a idel what you are asking and I may be more help.
  6. The C engine will work better with a 10 speed trans because the maxidyne is got more torqe and hp at 1200 rpm and willwork great with a 5 or 6 speed but you put a 10 speed behind it and it pulls good up to about 1600 and the it seems like it take for ever to pull on up tp 2100.I have been their and it is a mater of some pump work to get to work better and the it is so much better to drive. If it is a german boush pump it only need to be recalibrated but if it is a american boush pump then you will have to replace some parts in the pump.
  7. I used a T600 air/ air turned up side down and a 315hp set to 350hp and built a special rad to cool the extra hp. I will try to post photos but dont know how glenn
  8. I dont think it will have a bobtail vavle if it has abs.
  9. It sounds like there is a weight problem to me I haVE seen those bearings worn out but not broken like you say
  10. I think you should save this post or discussion for a years and then go back and read it after you have messed up a good engine and that is what you will do if you dont know any more than to disable the engine protectiom and then you will hate your self.
  11. He is counting reverve 2 times
  12. I think the endt 237hp maxidyn was the first that had the new sealing bead on the liner but same block. It has been 25years since I have been into a c but may be wrong. Then in the old block before the maxidyn there was two blcks and one had a full flow/ bypass oil filter and the older one before the which was a 170hp used a by/pass luber finner oil filter only It was the engine that did not have a coolant regulator or thermostat.
  13. The 673p was a older block and crank than the maxidyne or the endt673a,b,c engine The end673p was the engine that had two intake manifoilds for better air flow and was rated at 187hp and did not have piston oil cooler nozzles and the end673a,b,c, was same block and crank as the maxadyn but I think the sealing surface on the liners was smooth like the end673.I worked for mack when the b modle was still in production and sure like working on then and still work on macks Glenn Akers
  14. Be carefull about how much fuel you set up.Some times you stay in then to long you burn pistons and can even twist the main brg bore out of line and spin a main brg. That engine has the main brg stableizer brackets on it now but it can still happen. glenn akers
  15. You may have antfreze in the oil but being you are there at the truck you can checkit out better than we can. antreze will get the turbo bearing also. glenn akers
  16. you are right .Glenn Akers
  17. You did not understand about the starting part he was talking about air pressure is being supplied to the reverseing relay valve that is on the intake manifold. air is supplied to it only when the park brakes are released so it will not limit the rack travel to full rack when the park brakes are set. You may need to see if you have any water or oil in you air tanks. oil will destroy the seal in any vale or air cylinder and water will cause rust.If it was not pumbed right you would have low power problem because it may not get full rack hope this will help. glenn akers And I failed to tell you but with the parking brake set and pump is in full rack on a cold day the engine will start better. glenn akers
  18. Here is king cruze 952 944 9644 http://www.cruisecontrolking.com/pages/2/index.htm glenn akers
  19. try king cruz I have used it and it is for big trucks Glenn
  20. You need to pressure the air to air up against the heads to check the complete syatem now some will tell you thatcant be done but i do it all time .if air leaks passed the vavles just turn engine a littel till the vavle seal and should hold air .Now i am talking about all 6 cyl. engines but should work on v8 engine as well.. I use 25psi and you will get a ideal what is going on.I do not remember where the air compressor gets it intahe air so look there and some air diers will let air leak thru them on the purge vavle when it is discharged. Glenn Akers
  21. If the oil filter has 2 small oil lines the it will take a 500 luberfider and if it has 1 small line and 2 big lines the mack #is a 236gb311a
  22. sandblast and install and leve along because the truck want care and a week after you want know.Make it simple is what I say .no power coat. Glenn Akers
  23. Make sure the dust cover is not being left off of the bottom.I am a truck mechanic and I can tell you that a lot of people leve it off and the dirt will eat a clutch and I know some of you know what I am saying. There ant noting wrong with that type of clutch but why change form the old style to one that cost so much. Glenn Akers
  24. Hi I am a long time truck mechanic and I have found out that if you ask enough people that same thing you will hear what you think is real or what you want to hear. There are alot of factors in this question and you will have to find out what model engine what turbo and is it still set to specs and then some one out here can look it up in a mack tune up book and tell you.So many people have set the fuel up on their pumps and you know that any one that has overhauled your engine is not going to set the fuel up and put warranty on it at the same time. And I know that there is truck drivers out ther that will not agree with me. my 2 cents worth Glenn Akers I forgot to tell you that I have a 315 hp with a air /air cooler on the front that will build 30psi but it would not dothat all day under a load without a burnt piston but I have set the fuel up on it. Glenn Akers
