  1. OK, the dealer was referring to our original "solo" clutch, the Eaton self-adjusting one. My boss assumed that "solo" meant single plate. The dealer was recommending the same clutch 3P did, he was just using a different term. Of course, the truck has already been back to the dealer twice to fix what didn't get fixed properly during the entire month they had it. This is why I only have 2 Macks....
  2. I love you man! I'll get the straight scoop on the clutch situation and let you know. I'm working with 2nd hand info. I'm the new guy on the job and all... If the Pete dealer was a Mack dealer, I'd have all Macks. Back in the good old days, we had ~200 of them....
  3. Thanks, Glenn! We're pretty careful about dust covers and things like that, but I'll make sure. We're considering the change 'cuz it's cheaper than replacing this ceramic clutch once a year. Out of 10 trucks, this is by far the worst clutch life we have. Are you seeing better life out of these than we are?
  4. Hi all! We have a 2000 Granite dump w/ E7 427 & Fuller 8LL. The single-plate ceramic self-adjusting clutch apparently has reached the end of its adjustment AGAIN and needs to be replaced. A year and 2 weeks ago, last time we replaced it, the disc looked nearly new but due to lack of adjustment, had to be replaced. We're planning on changing to a twin plate, manually adjustable clutch. Is this a good plan? Why do we have these problems with the single-plate? thanks! kevin
