  1. I used the biggest 1/4" drive rachet I could find.......LOL!!! Don't worry, it ain't very pretty anyway. It has over a dozen 5/8" grade 8 bolts holding it together on each side. I have no worries at all that it would ever come apart. Thanks for the comments.
  2. Typical differential "fail".................(well maybe more like a lack of welding skills) Well, okay, maybe not a truck, but a good one none the less. I can remember way back when I was young, late in the winters evening, finding a big church parking lot and going at it with my ol pickup truck. I won't say I abused it, just had fun. There is a difference.
  3. I kinda wondered what he asked for, then it struck me as I've poked around trying to find an old school light for my truck. I've got a nice 4bulb unit, but it's too new looking for me. I want a round top model. Unfortunately they get GOOD money for these old lights.

  5. It just doesn't sound right because the driver forgot to smash his hand in the door first. He wasn't driving it mad enough. He was just babying it along. Got to take'r up to the govn'r and then shift it.

  11. It's actually an Ultra Classic dresser...................it just don't LOOK that big with Rob on it because he actually covers up the rear saddle bags.

  13. Be curious if it actually has a 300 in it. For $3000, the motor is worth that. Likely just a ENDT673C or such. Would a 300 even lay over well enough to fit with all the plumbing??

  15. Friend got popped getting of PA turnpike, lucky it was only his boys 28ft tag trailer(not his 44ft gn), as his truck only has Non comm plates. Don't know the damages, but surely was not cheap. I too ran that way when I had my dually, but was lucky all the way to Florida and back(and everywhere else I ran for 4 yrs). Getting harder to get away with stuff like that. I got questioned once at scales about my GVW. My B model is titled for 33K and I'm under that, so I got a smile and told to have a nice day. I got one of those adapters for my trailer too. Much easier to hook up to then a gooseneck ball.

  17. The permit is like having your temps for a 16 yr old. You must have a co-driver WITH a CDL with you to be legal. You don't have a timeline for taking your test, other then your temps expiring. As long as you are over 21, you can go across state lines. Only under 21 is restricted. About 10yrs ago, I took my temps and got them. About a month later I went and took the test and passed. One of my local stations has trucks to rent, so I didn't have to worry about using my B model. You don't have to go to school, unless you don't have any way of practicing. I used my years of experience pulling my 40ft race trailer around with my pickup. I knew how to handle that part of the test.
  18. Oldie, but goodie. Ya, got to have LOTS of confidence in your machine to pull that one off. Imagine Rob...............................about half way up, hanging out the door................."anyone got some fuel?"
  19. I must have the one and only 673 that will start on it's OWN with no help even at 18* outside. Ya, it's not instantaneous, but with a few attempts on the starter, it will cough and start on it's own. Guess I'm lucky. I've heard people that have diesel pickups that won't do that??
  20. Ya know, Macgyver could weld junk together with just a simple gas generator, a pair of jumper cables and two fiddycent pieces. I know it's true, I've seen it on TV!!!!
  21. Do you hold the throttle down when cranking? It won't start at idle until it's warmed up. Depending on how cold, I hold mine maybe 1/4-1/2 throttle to get it cough and start. Don't let it wind up hard, as I think that's bad especially if you don't have oil pressure yet. After it starts, I hold it high enough to get it warm up all cylinders and then let it idle. Usually about 5 seconds or so. The primer is only to get fuel up to pump, like if you run it dry(umm, well, ya, I know ths from experience). Only once though. Rob is far more experienced at running trucks out of fuel on a more regular basis LOL!!! He is getting A LOT better now at keeping tanks filled up.
  22. Single axle B model? Maybe 11-12K lbs. No problem. Doesn't look like the trailer is a dovetail? Watch the ramp lengths, as you'll catch a fuel tank if they are too steep.
  23. I've got a few more, just need to download them from my phone. I'm not sure, but think this is about the 8th? annual open house. Larry Kotkowski puts on quite a spread. Over a dozen cable shovels, 1/2 dozen dirt haulers, dozen bulldozers, bus tours of the property, FOOD. I want to thank Larry for an awesome time and the chance to drive those crazy mechanical menaces from the past. I put 3 hours in them, couldn't image 10-12 hrs a day, 6 days a week!
