  1. I think that is where Matt posted above about the cost. I got real lucky buying my air ride cut off for $500. Most yards are way over that for just a housing.
  2. The ad says Diesel. No picture to prove it. I wonder if the battery is in the alum step box?
  3. Yes Vlad, air start. Doesn't look to hateful overall. I wonder if the lack of batteries are the reason they call it "non runner"? No one wants to air it up for the starter to work? Agree, pricey for what it is.
  4. I only lifted about 3" to get the trailer out from under it, then down to the ground. I didn't trust it to go any farther. When I installed it in the truck, I borrowed a buddy's wrecker.
  5. Beyond my knowledge, sorry. Hope someone else sees this post and can give you more information.
  6. They aren't exactly like a Jake, so there is more to it.
  7. Engine didn't have a flywheel on it, so that saved it from being even heavier. The crane wasn't happy about it, but did lift it. 100# here, 100# there adds up quickly.
  8. 1000-1200# or so. I know my folding engine crane would just pick it up with the boom all the way in. I unloaded my 237 from a small trailer with it.
  9. Luckily the stall is just barely wider then the truck so I can use it to prop myself up. You have to be a skinny ass to get around the truck while parked inside.
  10. Was working on my race car last month. Was trying to run some new wiring for O2 sensors I put in the collectors. Tried to crawl in the car to get my head under the dash.....nope, not happening with the door bars in the way. I can't contort enough with my back all jacked up and my sciatica on my right hip killing me. Damn, this old crap sucks.
  11. I was just thinking that last week when I was working on the turbo downpipe.... stretched across that damn fender with my foot pushed against the garage wall holding myself up.
  12. Lost my mother last May at 93. She was failing for about the last 3 yrs. Assisted living, then nursing home for the last few months. It was a horrible thing to watch. We laughed too about how she would cuss like a drunken sailor sometimes..... we'd say "yup, she's still like her old self!". She was a tough cookie, thus where I get my attitude sometimes. FJH , love the ol Dog. Gives you great satisfaction to be able to make the young ones scratch their head when they can't just "plug it in"!
  13. Lack of fuel will cause low boost. Is something cutting that down? My .02
  14. You have never heard of My Saint Helen? The top blew off in 1980. Made a mess for states.
  15. Toxic fumes in your house. Causes cancer, asthma, etc ,blah, blah, blah. I about fell out of my chair this morning when the news was telling this story.
  16. Have to get number for you. Stock turbo that was on it. I did have bearings/seal put in it a few years ago, just because it was inexpensive and something I won't have to worry about for awhile.
  17. Don't recall if it was square? You would think a regular round one would suffice. Even if not available from Jacob, you should be able to come up with something online. Measure the bore that it fits into and work backwards.
  18. All buttoned up. Just need a warm day to open the door and give it a test. All never seized up. Put a touch of high heat paint on it. Not sure how long that will last? Looking good. Went together with a nice firm snap of the seal rings. There were slight wear marks in the mating parts but that won't hurt anything. A nice simple project.
  19. The C engine is rated at 250hp, but it is a thermodyne and will need more then 5 spds. Under a load it will really struggle to recover speed at 1100 rpm when you shift. It needs to be around 1500-1600 rpm. On a hill it will really hurt it. I was really hunting for one of these motors to replace my old P motor for many years. The 237 showed up and I went that way instead. It has its own issues with being ahead of a Triplex(single countershaft transmission). You can't lug it down to 1100 as it will try to spit the gears out. So I drive it more like a thermodyne.
  20. Oh, I was super delicate. My fall back plan was making a new one out of cast iron(I work at a machine shop, so that is not a big deal). But saving the old one was my main plan. I was wondering if they still had tension and I was careful with the heat by aiming it on the inside of the tube as to not untension the rings. They popped loose and look just fine. Yes, there are slight grooves on the mating pieces, but I think it will seal pretty well as is with the rings back in floating condition. I have the grooves cleaned out, the rings float nice. I'm going to paint the casting with some high temp paint from work and then never seize the rings and out it together. Should be a major improvement. My back up plan was getting some automotive rings in the correct size. Looks to be std .093 wide rings. I was also concerned about using a glue that was too stiff(like a manifold paste) seeing that this does float between two objects that expand/contract a lot.
