I usually don't like to talk politics, especially online, but I have to say I have no idea what to believe anymore. On one hand, I do not like Iran and would rather them not have a nuke at all, but on the other, where there actually any WMD's in Iraq? Could this be another ploy just to destabilize another country for monetary gain (or some other form of ill-gotten gains)? Maybe. All I know, is I want my diesel prices back down, please. I just bought my first diesel pickup and was loving it before, now I drive with my teeth gritted.

I don't think its possible to. Just more of the same failed foreign policy making the average US citizen and the world less safe. The USA and others created this problem from 1953-1979. To think the USA is innocent or somehow justified in their current actions is laughable. I think this administration is now in way over its head at this point with no plan or real path forward. I think it thought after killing Ali Khamenei the remaining leadership would submit to the USA like Delcy Rodriguez did. Moreover, I think it is too chicken to insert ground forces and finish the disaster it started with the convenience of strategic bombing. Even if troops were sent in I don't think they would be successful. It would only embolden the Iranian citizens to fight a gruella war against US and Israel. Look to any past US exploits in the Middle East for evidence. A ground war in Iran, on Iranian soil would make the Iraq War look like a golf outing. My guess is the continual pressure on oil prices will become too much to bear and Trump will get on national TV and say the campaign was a success and leave behind a destroyed country, many dead, instability in the region, and an even more pissed off Iranian government which will be under the same leadership as he sought to topple. I think attacking Iran will have very serious long term consequences, none of which are in the US citizens' best interest. Iran will forever be aligned with China, who we are told is the "real enemy". Thinking the USA can squeeze them by toppling two countries that supply them with oil is not 3D chess. Its an embarrassing display of aggression that reaffirms to the world the bully the USA has been for the last 80 years.

Nothing screams failed foreign policy and culpability like carpet bombing the the country your CIA corrupted for the previous 3 decades.......

If true I only expect it to get worse and more frequent. Iran knows they are severely outclassed militarily. They will fight in unconventional ways against the US citizens and economy. I wouldn't rule out acts of terrorism by Iran or its proxies on the US mainland now.

Actually, this was one regime change that worked out extremely well.

Up until it didn't. The reasons for which were the regime change itself. So no. It obviously didn't work out extremely well. The USA is not righteous. It is not the US CIA's place nor in the best interest of the US citizen to be out corrupting other countries with regimes we think are righteous.

It worked extremely well until a radical faction made a power grab.

From 1953 to 1979, it obviously did work extremely well.

I guess one could say that if you were a corrupt US politician looking to exploit a developing country for your benefit. Take their natural resources. Sell them military hardware. Back door deals to line your pockets with. It probably did work extremely well. History has shown people don’t take kindly to someone coming into their country and “helping” them.

They chant Death to America daily.....

But what do they say it?

Why would any U.S. Citizen support them

I don’t think any of us could find any US citizens that support the Iranian government. Supporting the Iranian government and acknowledging US’s history with Iran while also acknowledging the current conflict will only make things worse are not remotely the same things

Ok.. thanks, but explain the pro Ayatholla protests that I see on mainstream media in large cities like N.Y.C. for example?

I say they are probably paid to protest, but are portrayed as ligitimate protestors....

I am a simpleton...

I don't know who all I have conversed with on this topic or in the entirety of the odds and ends department but I must say its been a pleasure. Upon reflection on these threads I have decided to hang it up here. I participate in several forums and generally speaking there is a consensus within the forum on certain subjects, especially politics. That is nowhere more apparent than the odds and ends section of BMT. Any thread brought to the floor is an echo chamber of the general consensus usually consisting mainly of memes or reposted content from MSM. It is rare to see people inject real objective scrutiny that runs contrary to the dominant opinion on these forums. It is certainly tolerated, however, posting a differing view, or calling out blatant hypocrisy that cast the dominant opinion a bad light is dismissed, laughed at, or in some recent cases results in name calling. Based on what I have seen, I get the impression real objective discussion on the topics created here is not actually desired. To that point it made me question why participate at all.

Truth be told the odds and ends section was the main reason I logged in frequently. With the antique section mostly dried up of meaningful content there's not much left here of interest to me. It will probably be years before I will make any real progress on my R model or have enough progress to make a build thread. I'll probably be selling my RD soon so I might be back to post it for sale here and possibly one of my Rest Rite bunks if anyone here is interested. Until then everyone have a good one. Again, its been a pleasure.

Well, I didn’t care for any of that last post but hopefully you will change your mind as far as antique trucks drying up. I think most of that is weather changes. I know it pretty much has been here. Deep discussions on here generally don’t end well thanks for everything you do.

so much evil coming from every which directions it’s hard to follow school shooting  churches people rioting to protect the illegal aliens defunding ice and border patrol I don’t know media blasting everybody with all kinds of smoke stocks dropping cost of living rising. Seems all I got to rave  about around here is the weather is really nice and I am retired.

I have read 67's post a few times.... A part me of agrees with his statements.  However, a part of me feels a bit offended. It's almost like those of us here on B.M.T., who have similar beleifs arent smart enough to have an intelectual conversation about the condition of our country. As far as memes go... most of them are the result of the real actions of those who are depicted in them...

Well I just don't really ever talk politics on forums, I have mentioned that before on the forum and been given a mouthful because of my none commenting on politics

But in the Australia I grew up in, there are three topics we never speak about

Politics

Religion

Money

Any of these three start a bun fight and I treat the forum as a fun spot to be, even when I'm in trouble

I was given some advice as young man once "you don't have to be right Paul, say your piece and zip it"

Kinda works pretty well

This modern world were everyone argues and insults until someone gives up is a looney left type of deal

I'm with you there. I don't mind hearing other people's opinions, even if they're wrong 🤣 (I'm joking of course- about the being wrong). Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but ridiculing, calling them stupid, or any personal attack on them for having a different opinion is just wrong. Unless it's all in fun, that's a horse of a different hue of course.

Producer of poorly photo-chopped pictures since 1999.

I may be should not comment in this thread at all. And actually I don't do. Partially following Paul's advice and partially not wanting to share my point of view since it could be biased at least by the reason of having it from different environment. But I want to addmit I'm interested in learning what others suggest on the subject and have respect to their minds since sure they have reasons to have that mind.

One point I want to share since it was mentioned on here and seems worth to aknowledge. Regarding christians.

Official Iranian regime, at least in the state it was in two weeks ago allowed three religions in the country officially: muslim, christian and zoroastrian.

Никогда не бывает слишком много грузовиков! leversole 11.2012

And there is lots of things to learn about on threads like this

I had no idea about the events unfolding in Iran until I read about it on here

I haven't watched news or current affairs programs since 2007 and the GFC or Sub Prime mortgage crisis in the U.S.

And life just ticks along even better for me and I stay all types of calm and happy because of it
