Sounds like a pretty good trans for what your doing, I like the gear steps in high range.  Why not go with a pull clutch, or is there a linkage problem with that? Got to thinking B model clutch release set up probably won't work with a pull type clutch.   terry:MackLogo:

I like the even splits all the way up.  It seemed like a good choice.

I will need to do some fancy footwork to convert to pull clutch.  Either linkage or add a cable to the end of my existing pivot and loop around and attach to arm.  Have arm hanging down and pull backwards.   Either way is doable.

Local friend has a B with an 8LL and said I can come up and see what he did.

You're thinking commercial use, Larry the only driver and being used the way he is, any clutch should outlast 7 lifetimes.

It depends on what can be found, and how much has to be bought, which way would be best. I wouldn't pay a premium for "common" in this case. 

As I have said before, I ran 14" organic clutches and they outlasted the engine builds. I was doing commercial and some heavy haul with mine.

I think there was even a 17" at one time. I know we were looking for something to replace the British bus 17" and saw Mack had one, but too much was different. Had to get our clutches air freighted in. Didn't have to do many but they were expensive when we did.

Currently 4.10.  If I hadn't found the double over I was on the hunt for a 3.50 rear.  The old Rockwell is thin pickings these days.  Found a few but too pricey plus shipping from far away.

 

Rear had 3.70 when I bought it but the old 673 didn't have the power to pull it so I swapped up to 4.10.  Wished I had kept the 3.70 or bought a 4.10 instead of trading it off.  Oh well.

You blokes are pretty quick, mind you'll find it nice and quiet at 1600 rpm

My bucket of bolts is pretty loud over 2000 rpm, 2100 is near 60 MPH and when I'm coasting along and the oils all hot it's ringing in my ears 

1950 rpm is a lor quieter and at 55 MPH is much more relaxing 

Yeah very unfashionable and slow compared to blokes but we don't have traffic were I drive
