1974 R600L Mack Gold Bulldog 

313476 original miles 

Mack engine Model 7 ENDT 676

9 Speed 

Camel back rear ends 

This truck was purchased by my Grandfather in the early 1980's. It was used as a dump truck up until 1997. We took the box off and it's sat here at my farm since. Motor is good. I start it once and a while. All the parts on it are stamped Mack. I'm asking $6,000 for it. Just a number. Tell me what you all think it's worth.

Did they have the plastic dash in 1974? I thought they went to that later

According to Wiki Google, 1973 the cab was given a extra few inches (wouldn't mind a few extra inches myself 😉) and a plastic dash

 73 was the change over year. i have seen early made 73's with steel "round" dash, and later builds with the plastic dash.
by 74 all macks i have ever seen had plastic dash.

I read somewhere in 66 they continued the manufacturing the B model on account of they had so many  parts they needed to use up a bunch of them…  so people were probably getting a really good deal on the last years model  at that time

Bob, many years ago a friend had a 66 Dm 800 on a b81 frame. With a V8 and  allison automatic trans.

That truck was a real bastage getting parts for

we call that a plus 3 cab over here paul,,,,,but in some applications,,,,they continued the straight cab,,,,i had an 87 U model that had the straight back,,,,was the first thing i noticed when i was looking at it for sale,,,,besides the fact it had factory AC,,power steering and a stereo woohoo

Legend has it the plus cab was a Australian invention, sort of

According to legend or urban myth as it's called today

Australia had trouble sourcing R model cabs so Mack in Australia got locally made fiberglass cabs of the R and F models 

To give a smooth inside and outside appearance the cabs were double skinned 

This resulted in the cabs been several inches longer than normal 

Apparently (like who would really know) this is were the plus 3 cab idea came from

I'm thinking it is more coincidence than what actually happened 

But it makes for a good yarn

thanks for the memory refresh . I left Mack in '75 ; couldn't recollect  when green steel left and brown plastic came to be. another one of those change-over ; your on your own to figure out the mechanics of this new cab.  and Don't think the "new kid on the block "couldn't  just walk over to the well learned old timers and ask a question. they just laughed at you (me).they could resight every torque/ spec on a B by memory : a new R forget it. LOL

yup, like me when i went from a Mack to a Kenworth as a daily driver.

i could tell you almost anything you wanted to know about a Mack. 

but a Kenworth? all i knew is it was an over the road truck.

Yeah, I drove Cummins  a good part  of my life and don’t really know anything about them at all. ?Did  own 5 Mack’s

I might ask Gary Richards ex Mack Aust about this. Lets not forget the Leader trucks in Australia which had the F model copy cab, it was fibreglass.
