Hello,

I am working on a 1975 F Model and in process of doing the same job now.  Replacing Front Brake Shoes, Slack Adjusters, Brake Chambers, Wheel bearings and wheel seals.  Mine looks just like yours.   I had a hard time finding the right stemco gritguard seals because I have the 10,500lb axle instead of the more common 12,000lb axle.  Finally found some on ebay.  Got everything installed today and ready to put the tires back on tomorrow.   Good luck with your project!

Just done the same job on our Cruiseliner along with loads of other work.Have you any pictures of your F model? Love to see them if you have....

I’ll be looking for seal kit soon. I haven’t done anything about it yet. We have a fleet  guard right here in town. I’ve had pretty good luck finding everything for that thing so far the boys back east telling me it’s still a good number. Let’s see what happens. possibly tomorrow I gotta run out to the eye doctor. While I’m out anyway I always try to kill two birds with one stone since I don’t like to drive anywhere lol

mehhh. they are clean, and shiny. the color does not matter.......

unless you are painting the truck pink with purple polka dots, then they may clash. 🙄

And yes, I also saw them on eBay. I am not signed up with them, but I will probably be eventually they’ve got lots of stuff all the time on there.

eBay got me TONS of parts when I rebuilt my Triplex.

well your right terry,,,,i have seen kits with the same part number as just the seal,,,,,yesterday fleetpride here told me he could order the seal....but the band was obsolete,,,NA  and couldnt find a crossover no.. because his company computer only stretched out so far,,because they ony deal with certain suppliers

Bob, is the spindle damaged where that wear ring go's?  like grooves or pitting for example? if not, you dont need the wear ring. just buy a National, or CR seal.  Its not like you will be putting the truck to work.

To clarify a bit. The old Stemco's had a wear ring. The newer unitized seal does not. So likely the wear ring has been discontinued because the original seal design was also.

CR makes a "seal saver" ring when the original spindle area has been damaged. This is different (thinner) then the old Stemco "wedding band" and is a last resort for repairing damaged spindles.

Get a modern unitized seal and be done with it.

ok so i expect the newer design allows for no ring needed ??????i suppose i could set it on there and see how it fits,,,,,this old seal clearly is not original....but the wear ring clearly is,,,,,its not very easy getting information out of counter help these days,,,,lol
