I have a feeling that I will be very busy when i retire.  And im ok with that... Of course, its gonna be a while.  Im still just a kid.. 🍻

If this will make you feel any better I’m usually full of piss and vinegar when it comes to projects around here But once in a while, I just don’t feel like doing anything but watching TV but everybody’s different. Glad I don’t have to work anymore. If nothing else way too many hours.

Well, Dave, I had not thought of age. Maybe that’s why these days it seems like it takes a lot longer to do everything than I figured. But yes, I do a lot of sit down breaks also but sometimes they turn into an hour or so but I have no bosses no time limit usually.

4 hrs is about all I can handle these days! Take lots of breaks I can go most of the day! 4hrs or so of productivity !

you must have a strong  retirement union !! a break is usually defined as 10-15 minutes , 1 hr is called office workers LUNCH time < "turn into an hour OR SO !!" sit around gain a pound. I'm 14 lbs  over month ago. NOT GOOD. having a gym is helpful. I lost my gym routine at the farm == not allowed to throw hay bales anymore. they are over 40lbs.

GW..  my idea is to mount as much of the original parts that I have to make it look like 1948 again. Of course i dont have the correct paint and decals. I took the horn apart and sand blasted it before paint. I think it will work, it was really clean inside. The voltage regulator looks to be good too, but its there for looks. I may attach some wires to it to make it look like it functions.

The back up light and alarm will be here tomorrow. I have bumper mounted turn signals coming today for the front.  I need to get a pair of mirrors for Sanford. I want west coast style mirrors, but I see small round mirrors mounted to the door hinges, in some of the pictures I have looked at.

LOL

Small round on an extendable stalk would have been factory.

You need west coast that can extend away from the door a fair bit as the cab is considerably narrower than modern beds that you might want.

Mine has the double A frame and then a loop for the mirror, but it rattles and moves a fair bit. Guy used all thread between the top and bottom A frame.

I could make it better but haven't yet.

I prefer the West Coast set up.  I have a box of mirror frames from RD Macks.  I may try to work them into shape to fit the doors.  Drilling holes in my doors is gonna hurt. My doors are really nice for 77 years old..

Yeah, and why the '48 (blue green) doesn't have them.

It can be done well, just not with what the P/O did on the '42 (white) truck.

It has another cab and doors going on, that also have W/C mirrors.

I think either are ok if done well.

Small round does leave something to be desired, but it is also rarely out of the far right lane either!

GW... I'm thinking about mounting a 5th wheel and a pogo stick with air lines and a trailer cord, just for looks... I have no intentions of using the truck for anything but to show it and drive it around town.

I am working on a mount for an air compressor, and have a few 5th's that I could make a drop on mount on the flat bed for moving my storage trailer.

If I were to be serious I'd have to replace the hydrovac with an airpack then it could tow semi's for real!

As I posted some time ago, it has a 16K hitch and will have an electric brake controller for running electric braked trailers.

K-7's could be spec'd from the factory with air brakes, but so far have only seen a picture of one spec'd that way.

During the war, there was a need for trucks that could pull semi's and many hyd equipped trucks were retro-fitted with a compressor and airpac in place of the hydrovac.

It turns out that the Leese Neville alternator is too big to fit where the stock generator is, so I can either have an air compressor or the L/N on the left side but not both.

May put the L/N on the 48 gin pole and move its 48 amp generator to the white truck, or may opt to put the air-compressor on the gin pole truck, but that bed is too high to pull most semi's and the gin poles would be in the way.

I used to have a "clanger" back up alarm on the mixer I had but I took it off. Last time I remember seeing it it was in a 5 gallon bucket in the shed, but that was years ago. It might have been in the shed that burned up, I don't know.
