  3. Enjoyed the pictures. Another stupid question. You chained the coil around the the round the spacers not the stake pockets. Is this better ? Not being a trucker when I have a chained load someone usually gives advise on a better way to secure the chains to the trailer It seems to be different each time. Your thoughts.

  5. Going from memory also. The one on the bottom is supply. The smaller one on left is front brakes. One in center is truck brakes. Right is for trailer thru tractor protection valve.The one on bottom left connects to the manifold on air compressor. There could be one on front small in size goes to the dry road slippery road switch in cab. Just put my floor back in so all this is memory. I am sure there there is someone here who knows than I.
  6. While on the subject of oils what is the choice motor oil for a B 61 673 n/a hobby truck?
  7. Just read an article in Land line magazine about oils. C J- 4 is being replaced by CK- 4. Which is backward compatible in older engines. Newer engines will require FA-4. I would guess yes.
  8. The only thing I found was the spring clip .Restoration Specialties had one. They had other items that I could make work. I only needed one complete roller. I was told that these were replaced with a new roller that would work better. I think from Mack.
  9. I had a 1974 Ford 350 with a 460 engine and a four speed. I put a two speed trans in it which went between the bell housing and four speed. The speedometer cable stayed in the four speed so no change there. It had an electric shift out of an Eaton two speed axle which the button mounted on the gear shift lever. The later ones had a shift lever. You did not need all 8 speeds. Unless loaded you could start in first gear and high side of the aux. I mostly split third and fourth gears as there was a big gap there. On the interstate I ran fourth gear and high side. These were available as over or under drive units and would work with 4 wheel drive. I ran it for a few years pulling a 25' goose neck trailer with no problems. It was fun to play with. Originally these were called Bendix Dualmatic I think. It used some of the same gears and parts as were in the four speed. Last I heard Advanced Adapters in Calf. were handling these. Like mentioned Gear Vendors has something and also Mitchel. Advanced Adapters at one time had some used ones for sale.
  10. The same thing is happening in most of the skilled trades. My neighbor is a retired journeyman electrician keeps getting calls from his former employer wanting him to come back to work full time, part time, or any time. I know a retired machinist who is gets the same requests. Their employers say young people just do not want this type of work. The paper mill where I worked had a few journeyman millwrights retire recently. the company talked a couple of them to come back to work part time and work the hours they wanted. The younger ones there after they got their apprenticeship in just did not want to work. Their answer was I have never done that job before and do not know how to do it you better call some outside contractors in for that.

  15. Keith I got mine from Kevin All 607 434 1063 in New York. When I was up there he had a stack of them . The holes were drilled and counter sunk. Not sure on the price as I bought a pickup load of stuff. If you call Kevin tell I gave you his #. Bob above has some also.
  16. Looking for a harness for a 1961 B 61. Tried to got an estimate from Harnesses Unlimited but they do not have anything this late. Vintage wiring of Maine has one for about $1900 Watts $ 1600. I really do not want to make one myself but do have the schematic. Has anyone used the one from Watts. Any other sources ? Thanks.
  17. I know the feeling. Spent 1/2 hr. looking for 5/8'' wrench that I had in my hand. Would have sworn I left it on the truck some were .

  19. Not sure on what you are you are trying to do. Why keep it + ground ? I think most were changed years ago to neg ground to slow electrolysis on the frame body parts and etc. As mentioned above starters will go either way and you do not need the series parallel switch. The key switch should be for the charging system and misc. items. Just wire your start button to a power source then to the starter solenoid. If you go to neg ground you will need to polarize your generator and switch a few wires. If your generator ever goes bad you will be set up for a one wire alt. The B 81 is a neat truck how about some pictures.
  20. What a beast. The 720 diesel set a fuel performance record that was not equaled for many years. I do not think this one will do as well.
