I took a picture of the light blue mh in Downingtown on 322 when it was for sale about 2years ago. I had already bought my 1985 mh so was not interested, but looked nice. I have pictures of those F models posted in my gallery. They were still there last summer. There is a 1930's Indiana dump truck rotting away next to a building just down the road too. I first saw that in 1990. All those trucks are much worse for wear. The Indiana has a wood framed cab so it is especially bad. He would sell it for 800 or so to keep it out of the scrap pile. It was his fathers. Mike

I found the pictures. It is the same truck. It is a 1947 EHX 1D 10265. It has a flathead gas and a unishift. It had 88,393 miles on it when it was sold at auction on November 9, 2007 in Fountainville, PA. It was bought by Harvey Grey of New Jersey for $4500. The lettering "HORSHAM TOWNSHIP HIGHWAYS" was still visible on the door. The last inspection sticker ran out January of 1980. It just had a farm sticker on it after that. I saw an almost identical looking truck sell in Bucks County PA about 5 years ago for about $7000. It was an old township truck. I could still read the municipality's name on the door. A guy from New Jersey bought it. Maybe this is the same truck. I'll see if I can find the pictures and selling price. Mike

I'm a 4070 A guy. The B's are alright, but not my favorite. Here is a picture of mine. 1973 with a 400 big cam cummins and double overdrive 13 speed. It is a lot of fun to drive. I bob tailed out the the ATHS show in Indiana last year. I'm not that great at shifting it though. The other truck is my 1950 Autocar C90D. It has a flat head gas 501 and a 5 and a 2. I did see a 4070 B this summer at a shop in Lehight County PA, but don't know if it was for sale. Mike

If the truck is as solid as it looks $8000 isn't bad. Maybe if you show up with cash you can get it for that. If not let us know where it is and one of us will buy it. I bought a 1960 DC75 Autocar tractor last year for $3500, but it is really rusty. It basically needs all new sheat metal. I am not going to do that. I'll run it the way it is. This one looks pretty solid. (mine did too in the pictures though) Mike

We had used the same logic that since they were tractors the tag went on the front, but I had a state cop come up behind me on 422 while driving my father's B85. She asked over her PA where my license was. I pointed to the front of the truck. She replied that it should be on the back and drove off. It is still on the front of the truck. Since then we put the license on the back of the truck if it has a bracket, but on the front if it doesn't. As for inspection, I doubt a car mechanic would inspect a Superliner. They would probably not be equipped to pull wheels and such. My father takes his to the truck garage. I'll text you a picture of the sticker. He likes your New truck. So do I. Mike

T is for single axle tractor. ST is tandem axle tractor. SW is a tandem axle straight job. SWX is a heavy duty, tandem axle straight truck. There is probably a list of all of this stuff somewhere. An LJ is a heavier truck than an LF. There are better experts than me on this subject. Mike

Yes. George's L model started with the sheet metal radiator shell. My parents have seen it at tractor shows down here in PA. I believe the new owner uses it to haul a steam traction engine to shows. From the pictures it doesn't look like it has been garaged or even waxed since he bought it. It used to be one of my favorite trucks. I bought an LFT single axle for $5000 a couple years ago. The body is great, but the engine is apart. I have $10,000 in the motor and it is still not together. It has the Lanova Deisel. There is a LJ or LF single axle with a wrecker body that runs and an LJ tandem parts truck near me for sale for $12,000. The single axle is a running truck with the gas 707. It is presentable condition, but would be best if it was gone over again. The tandem needs a lot. I haven't seen too many other L models for sale. A tandem dump was sold last year. The cab and body were great with no rust, but needed paint. They were asking about $7000. I don't know what they got for it. Nice running truck though. Mike
