  1. Looks like the wrist pin or maybe the crank journal is in the middle picture of to the side...UGLY mess of parts. It is hard to believe that is even possible but the laws of physics always prevail. Congress can't even repeal them!
  2. WOW that took some doing didn't it!!!!! What happened other than it going BOOM?
  3. Does that have juice brakes and a tandem hydrovac for braking system set up? Love the colors, the attention to detail and the quality of the work there. That will be an awesome ride when done!
  4. I stopped buying the cheap ratchets years ago as they work poorly. The high end ones are good enough to trust to not bust your hands. Like everything made in USA is what I try to buy but I've not decided to abandon Craftsman as it is all I have and the warrantee is a life saver. I ten to snap sockets a lot and use screwdrivers like chisels. (Don't tell sears). I buy made in USA as much as possible. It's the best thing we can do for local industry. Greg
  5. Reading this post hurt. Darned shame to split that up. A real shame.
  6. The moss (or is that AstroTurf) is cool. Doesn't Matt Pfhal (spelling??) have one of those in CT? Cool anyway. I would have enjoyed the bus ride to school in one of those. Wicked Cool!!
  7. That is a nice truck and I love the colors. It is unlike any scheme you will run into I think. Love it. Price a new set of tires. flaps and tubes, do a little math there and yah its a darned good price.
  8. Shameful that in so many ways we don't deserve the sacrifice those men made. We should wake up every day and be grateful that we live in America and that this means we are free. Free to do whatever we want (which is lawful unless you are the president of course) and thank all the people who fought and died so we could. It's a dam shame. We can't even be bothered to say yah those guys kicked ass and did what was hard because it was important, not because it was easy. Freedom isn't free and when we forget that, we don't deserve it. God Bless America and all those who did what had to be done for Her and for all of us.
  9. I still have ENF-707C parts if anything is needed..Nice truck. More pictures needed for sure!!! Greg
  10. That is a nice looking R model. Real sharp truck. I can't help with any information but love the pictures. What is the history of the truck? Enjoy Greg
  11. Only 28 years! Wow...should be like yesterday. I think you have successfully dated yourself Gearhead204. The fire engine I'm working with has been converted to an alternator for power but is still positive ground. It all works but I have no idea how or why. The alternator is a three wire hook up also. I guess I'm wondering why it matters other than when you put in a battery or wire something into the truck...Maybe you should just keep it positive ground for ease of the project. For what that is worth... Greg
  12. Wow. That is an exceptionally well done piece. It looks like Mack put it together. I bet it can burn up some gasoline in a hurry with that engine in it. Really cool. What is the next plan for power? I hope the 707 finds a good home. I've still got lots of parts of the one I had to cannibalize for parts. Greg
  13. You need the right gas. The typical 25% argon 75% co2 is wrong. Its 100% of one of them. Ask your welding gas supplier. The aluminum being welded must be clean to the point where there is none of the dull grey aluminum oxide or any other impurity, dirt or grease etc. That's all I know. There was a good tech tip on "Extreme 4x4" on TV where he demonstrates basic welding types, gun positions and techniques. I think you can find it on line but not sure. Good luck
  14. .5 mpg/6 mpg x100% = 8.3% error...not great but not out of this world.. Is the error consistent from tank to tank? If it is then you can fudge it out of the calculation. If not...punt.
  15. I'm not largely experienced with many vehicles but have never seen the onboard mileage calculations be correct. I think it is possible that they can be but I've never seen it. That's not much help I guess but when in doubt lock the fuel up and check it manually for a while. You can "calibrate" the readings against actual measurement and determine a multiplier to correct what the computer says if indeed it is off... Good luck.
  16. I have a good one off of a 707C fire engine...engine. Send a pic of yours for comparison. If it's right I'll take a reasonable offer. Greg
  17. Should have taken video....Running ok or smoking?
  18. You sure it wasn't for beer, smokes and more tattoos? A worthy cause never the less. Greg
  19. No way! That's funny. Put his contact info up... Thanks
  20. I'm a mechanical Engineer and that design is absolutely beautiful. I'd like to shake the hand of the guy who's head that came out of. It is inspired, based on simplicity and durability in design. There were no cheap a$$ worries about it costing an extra buck it was made to work and work well for a long time. It must have been a pleasure to work out and see built.
  21. I was looking at the picture book for the FC/FCSW/NM trucks the other day and note the similarities between these beasts and the NO. Obviously the "N" series trucks are alike and share what I would call the L model nose. The cab appears to be consistent with the exception of the C type cab. I believe the cab is wider than an L cab but shares the architecture of the shape of the doors and such. It is clearly not an A or B cab with the big radii on them. The dash had the L model speedometer and gages at least in the few shown in the book. Massive frames and what looks like three big steps up into the cab make for an impressive looking truck. The NM is 12' wide and they had six wheel drive with what looks like the Mack front end used in the NO trucks too. Can anyone add to or correct my assumptions here? Wicked Cool trucks... Greg
