  2. That place will never rust ...lol
  3. Tom : I'll send my address via PM On Facebook to get on the Shine list err I mean Hotsauce list .. Yardo My grandfather told me if they was running low of gas in a truck back in the 50's & 60's they poured shine down the gas tank & the service truck ran like a top if that gives ya an idea ..lol
  4. Congrats Tom on your Find . Nice looking IH Transtar II There bud . There was a set of 5 brothers who used to log here in my neck of the woods (no pun intended) They used to work w/ my grandfather & his crew a lot as pop cleared a lot of land for Right aways on roads, Land for subdivisions, malls ,etc. They ran IH Transtar II & IH 9670'S tandem tractors W/ 400 Cummins , 9spd road rangers & Walking Beams & straight pipes . All Drove the 3 IH Trucks they had but the oldest Brother was 6'2" & every bit of 500 pounds . He was 1 of the fellas that taught me a lot about trucks & how to drive & he & his brothers were strictly Cummins men & all of them but esp the oldest brother could make a Stright piped Cummins Hum . . Matter fact on his particular IH Transtar II He drove every once in awhile they had to weld the top step under the cab on the drivers side due to stress cracks . . I remember about 15 yrs ago passing by the lot where he kept his trucks near his house 1 day . I was going to the scrap yard w/ a load of Old Undercarriage & cutting edges off our equipment . It was about this time of year & things were slow & I was trying make a little Christmas Money . I noticed A Tire service out there by his IH's & Log trailers I thought they were putting new tires on his trucks & trailers as we all were on a clearing job together @ that time & I remember my buddy talking bout getting new tires & rims on his trucks . I Called him up on my cell going to the scrapyard & told him I see he was buying new tires & getting the Alcoa rims he got from another friend of our put on today . Come to find out he went to 1 of the major Tire shops in Memphis & bought all new Goodyear 22.5 tires & had Alcoa rims he got from another friend of ours & had them put on the day before . & he asked what they looked like I told him . he asked if id turn around & wait till he got there & Toldme they were stealin his new tires & rims & he was on the way . I Remember seeing a MPD Car @ a local corner store . I rode back to the store caught the officers told them what was going on & that I called my friend that owned the trucks @ that lot & that he was on the way . They went back there caught them in the act of taking the tires off the Trailer (log trailer had 22.5 on Dayton rims) & already had the truck blocked up & BY THIS TIME HAD A 2ND TIRE TRUCK TAKING TIRES OFF A 2ND OF 3 TRUCKS Sitting there . My buddy got there showed his paper work & talked to the cops & the cops arrested the 6 MEN stealing the tires . The cops told my buddy that he had a hell of a friend & I told the officers I was raised around him & his 4 brothers & we all work together & we are like family . My reward was a big steak dinner & he tired to give me $100 & I wouldn't take it . He told my pop (grandfather ) & pop told him you know Mack wont take it . He told pop he wanted me to have it . Pop gave in & told him that he would slip it in my paycheck @ the end of the week . it wasn't for some years later about the extra $100 in my check that week from another guy I worked with . Sorry for the long post but we are talking about IH Transtars & Ihad to share that story w/ yall . I hope yall don't mind .
  5. Nice Shop there Leslie . We had a 40x60x20 shop back in the day . If it was raining & I was in the shop working on a truck & my grandfather & his crew didn't watch it Id crawl under the truck on a creeper & let the sound of the rain put me to sleep & get me about an hour nap . there were a few days that old man jerked out by the feet ..lol Now if I get another truck I will have to carry it to a couple of buddies of mine about 30 miles North of me . As both of them has shops about a mile or 2 apart from 1 another. 1 buddy has a 50x100 shop w/ a height tall enough you can raise a 17' dumpbed & still have plenty of clearance . id say 50x100x25 . The other has a shop about 40x60' W/ a roof tall enough to raise a bed & still have room . But man there isn't anything like having a place to get your dogs out of the weather .
  6. Very Different set up from what im used to . When I pulled Trailer frames For FEMA Trailers after Katrina I ran from 1 gulfstream plant to another . The fella I was working for was originally from MI. (now lives in N.MS About an hour from me) & knew I have always been into trucks . we caught a break & was running close to the MI Sate line & he was from around Grand Rapids . So we went to The town he was from he had a friend that had a couple of Michigan trains & I seen them 2 KW W900 Set up as Michigan trains had 3408 Cats TURNING 700HP W/18spd Roadrangers . was a sight for me to see . as I told his buddy id hate like hell to have to get in a tight spot w/ that setup .
  7. 84 : Isnt that the B Model Dump near Nashville that has been advertised for awhile now ?
  8. Hello & 1st I want to say Hi & to the kennel . Glad to have you here w/ the rest of us Enthusiast. I cant speak for the G377 Good Year . but the G177 Good Year Waste Hauler lugs are still in production . The G177 Good Year is all we ran on our dump trucks & our lowboy due to we worked in the mud so much . the only down fall I seen to them on our trucks was they picked up every nail in the landfill . But I understand from a buddy of mine whom I work for some delivering tires for say that Good Year has a G177 Self sealing tire. called the Dura Seal G177 . I never thought to look it up till this thread but here is a link to the G177 Good Year . http://www.goodyeartrucktires.com/tires/ Hope this helps .

Especially some the women ive dated through the years . I had a cousin that would date 4 women in a night . he did pretty good till all 4 women found out what he was doing & put a beat down on him & put his ass in a Memphis hospital for a week

  15. I Could Too . When I was A Toddler My Dad (before he passed) & Pop (my grandfather that raised me after dad passed) would put me in the cab of Old Dog when they moving equipment from job to the next or Taking Soybean or Wheat to the Elevator in North Memphis they would put me in the passenger seat . (no car seat )im told id be sitting up 1 minute looking around & talking & the next I was fast asleep on the bench style passenger seat & snoozing away in a 64 ' B Model Mack w/ a straight pipe 711 growling & barking & no a/c . It never amazed our drivers even after I was grown that I could catch a ride in 1 of our Bulldog's going from the Dirt pit to the job site to operate a push cat & id put my head in the corner of the cab & fall asleep in a straight piped 237, 300 or 350 Mack & the windows rolled down & be sawing logs . I Can still do that to this day . Nothing like the sound of a Mack drivetrain to put me to sleep in the passenger seat ...
  16. there was a Excavating Company out of West Memphis, AR that used to have a 88' or 89' GMC 7000 Single axle Fuel/Lube truck w. 8.2 T Detroit & 5&2 w/23k axle . Not sure of the Horse Power but That truck carried a 1500 gallon fuel tank , Kellogg air compressor , 15W40 OIL, Waste Oil, grease drum, Hyd oil tank , Water tank , & gear oil tank & Reels I used to like to hear that ole 8.2T In a hard pull through soft ground & that Turbo start whistling like a tea kettle & black coal rolling out of that belly blower exhaust .
  17. I Graduated from MCHS In 94 ' my 10th grade English teacher told me I needed to bring my grade up to an A or B So I could take Spanish . @ that time the Mexican population wasn't heavy here in the Memphis area yet I Told my teacher I didn't need to take Spanish & She said your loss not mine . About 96 or 97 is when I started seeing the Mexican population explosion here in the Memphis area . What little bit of Spanish I do know is from the Mexicans ive worked with & from the one who are my neighbors . Makes me wish I would had listen to my teacher now . & as far as the National anthem is concerned I was taught to take my hat off & cross my heart . I forgot 1 time as a kid & my great uncle liked to knck me into the following year .
  18. Nice Pics all around Those DM Macks would make some good dump buckets . As far as that mountain road goes I hope the jake would how out on the side of the mountain . Always liked the looks of the Oshkosh HET . & Far as the Wimmin go there is no Redheads or Blonde pics .
