  3. this posting has my attention now.. I was going to leave it, but I changed my mind... JoeH,, you posted some real good info.. I have that book,, I got it after I went to V-Mac school when I was at a Mack dealership.. I'm glad to see that these books are for sale on line.. I have 3 sets of driveline books.. 2 to sell... but so far know one is interested..
  4. I doubt it.. I think yours is too old to derate for a VSS code.. just because,,, inspect the wires for the sensor, the plug is probably on top of the transmission... not sure what transmission you have, but,, if its a screw-in sensor,, remove it and inspect the end of it.. if its good,, put it back in til it touches then back it our 1 FULL turn, and lock it down... drive it over 7 mph to clear the code,, then recheck your codes..
  5. V-MAC_Fault_Assignments.pdf 35.61 kB · 1 download.url 4-1 is a VSS code.. the speed sensor on the transmission out put seal housing.. I added a codes list that you can print and save.. Jojo
  6. My father, grand father's and most uncles and all great uncles were war vets.. I'm the first in our line to NOT see combat.. Never Forget..
  7. You do know this is Bob's posting?? he doesnt care, hell He's as bad as us..... Right Bob ???
  8. Im only 54 and my knees and ankles hurt so bad, its hard to walk... I made my self climb a 30 foot ladder today at the water plant.. I did it and felt like proud about it.. Crazy....
  9. I wanted to ask also... Just curious.
  10. We used to drain the coolant on them and put a rubber glove over the coolant pipe at the EGR cooler, and start the engine. If the glove inflates, then you have a gas leak..
  11. Yes terry, I did see that.. I was hoping he would post pictures of the shift pattern sticker, shift knob, and/or the stamping in the side of the tranny.. I think the 206G was a 6 SPD. In one box.. Jojo
  12. Yes Sir... I had to put my '48 to the side for a bit. I had repairs to the house and a couple of our trucks, and a bunch of small chores.. I pick at chores during the week, but on Saturday I get a bunch done, and Sunday is a half day.. and today.. a guy who's engine ive had for 3 years, is ready for me to come get a bunch of parts, so I can get back to it.. It's hard to work on my own stuff for long periods of time... Oh well....
  13. yes terry it does,,, right away.....
  14. well a couple popular models were the 2070 and a 2060.. is the shift pattern label behind the sun visor? if not you can clean the area behind the big fill plug. the model is stamped into the main housing along with the part number.. they had air shift for low range (Un-synchronized) there will be a blue button on the front of the knob.. pictures always help us to help you.. Jojo
  15. rubber boot still there intact or have the usual rip allowing crud oxidation.
  16. terry??? you ever break one of the 'dogs' off the pressure plate when trying to adjust a clutch that has been hammered to death, and your trying to get every bit out of it, but it's stuck, jammed up with clutch dust in the teeth on the adjuster ring??? I have.. That sucks...
  17. no sh!t... thats a new one for me.. I never tried that.. I have a crank handle that bolts in where the locking tab bolt goes.. I have even used a large screwdriver and pointy bar to make adjustments.. so do you turn the flywheel 360, then check free play? and keep doing it till its set?
  18. How about removing the service line on the bad chamber and pressing the brake pedal to see if a strong rush if air comes out..
  19. 'R' cabs have the treadal valve in the floor, right where crap from your boots can get in there and jam things up.. it's odd how only 1 brake is not working.. is the clevis pin rusted solid? Did you have it off the slack adjuster, or did you just screw the camber on to the clevis while it was still attached..? Very strange....
  20. I would if I still ran my service truck.. I have a cushy city job now... I am currently waiting an hour and a half for the garage to come jump start our crane, because I am not allowed to put jumper cables on it.. I'm going nuts, I used to hustle and get trucks back in the road in short time..
  21. How about a knot in the hose created during the repair??
