O.D. I was wondering if Zena has. U.P.S. for her computer systems? It is good protection for sensitive electronics. (Uninterruptible Power Supply).. i think they are low cost protection systems.

It could be, weak gas. After a minute of running on propane, i flipped the fuel switch to gas and it stayed running.. i have 4 full propane tanks, so no biggie right now. I may just remove the gas and let the tank dry out, and just use propane. You do lose 10% of the wattage on propane, but for us, its ok..

JC... That's what they see in their minds when they hear ice and 1-3" of snow around here.. However, i do expect power outages..

O.D. I have some new info for you.. we are expecting ice and some snow tomorrow, so i went out to start my Genny. It would not fire. I pulled the spark plug and cranked it and the spark was a good color but it was a small spark. I put it back in, tried to start again on Gas, no go. Switched to Propane, and it started right up.. Also, the cute little battery that came with it doesnt like 25 degree air.. So the moral of my story is..... Buy a good spark plug and a lawn mower battery for the new Genny. I will be replacing mine very soon. I cant drive for a few more weeks, but next time my wife goes out, i will get the parts.. I hope you find this helpful. I forgot that the Chinesium sparks plugs suck. Jojo

I was taught from the begging to put liner hold down bolts in place right after pulling the heads.. I have had good results with that method, however, a weak seal on a liner is not visible, I like to pressure test the cooling system with the pan off to see if I have a leaking liner before hand..

Actually, my genny is now $800.00 i paid $1,100.00 a year and a half ago.. its a dual fuel model with electric start and the battery came with it

That is a lower price than my 10,500 watt unit that i got from Amazon in 5 days. Nice find JC..

I do like the propane set up on mine. I dont worry about fresh fuel . Just a thought

The brake system is hard to get parts for if major parts are needed. Air brake or hydraulic.

Bob, this plug also separates the neutral and the ground wire. The older plug caused folks to connect the white and green wires together. The green wire now goes to "Earth".. As a (not an electrician) this is the best way i can describe it..

Thats my point JC... Less than 2K.. of course the big Gennys are great, but if you dont loose power often , then a gas/ propane one is perfect. Hell dont even put gas in the tank, just keep 2 full grill bottles on hand.. i have 4 grill bottles, i can go 2 full days on 4 tanks, with some left over, as i drive around looking for a filling station, provided we dont have a major event where the whole town is devastated,, then you would just run power when absolutely needed..

In my low rent opinion... I think that O.D. will do well to assess his power demands and pick a gas/propane powered generator that is a couple thousand watts more then his minimum need. I am pretty sure he can buy the Genny, and get the outlet attached to his panel for 2 grand, tops... If he can do the outlet wiring himself,, that will save on labor and parts mark up.. I think he has a wood stove. O.D., i forgot if you have wood heat.. thats all I got guys.

Have you used a coolant pressure testing tool ? You can test it cold and save a ton of time. It sounds like you have a few cold water leaks. I would wash the engine off and do your best to wash the anti freeze trails off the engine so you you dont chase old leaks.. Harbor Freight has a decent set for cheap money. Lets see what the dog pound says on this one... Jojo

Im with 67RModel, and J.C. and myself. I have a $1,200.00 10,000 watt. portable connected professionaly to my house, gas and propane powered. It runs my whole house minus the A.C. Electric start for my Wife..
