  2. I know that has nothing to do with rising fuel prices. The price of fuel is just about entirely supply and demand driven where your suppliers and consumers are the entire world. Joe Biden (or any president) can't force domestic producers to pump less or more, he cant force foreign producers to pump less or more, or dictate what they sell it for. He can't force refiners to adjust wages and production costs to further manipulate prices. He also can't drastically change the demand here or globally. Crude, natural gas, and NGLs extracted here don't necessarily get sold or used domestically. Heck, gasoline and diesel fuel refined here may not actually get sold here. Even Joe's direct, "energy friendly" actions such as opening the strategic petroleum reserve and resuming drilling leases on Federal Lands over the past month will not do much of anything to the price of fuel. As I said before under the current globalized commodity system a US president has almost zero control of the price of fuel. Joe Biden did ban Russian crude imports (about 9% of total US crude imports), which will directly affect the price we see at the pump. Though I think you would have to search far and wide to find someone who thinks that was an incorrect decision. We were exporting fuel before Trump, during Trump, and are currently exporting fuel. To be clear the United States is the largest oil and gas producer in the world. There is a distinction though between crude oil and other hydrocarbons such as natural gas, NGLs, and refined products, which are collectively known as petroleum products. The US has never in its history been a net exporter of crude oil. It has been steadily trending toward being a net exporter of crude since about 2005, however, the trend slightly reversed in 2020 and 2021 due to pandemic related demand swings, and is now back to trending toward being a net exporter. The US may or may not ever become a net exporter of crude. The US currently is at about a 3.5 million barrel per day deficit of being a net exporter of crude. The US has been a major net exporter of petroleum products since 2009. Midway through 2019 the US became an all in "net exporter" of energy when taking into account both crude and petroleum products combined (in million barrels per day total net trade). The pandemic related supply/demand swings tipped us back to net importer in 2021 and we are now currently back to being a slight net exporter of hydrocarbon energy. The Federal Lands thing is a talking point "news" personalities on both sides like to bring up to stir emotion for their base but never really give any context to their statements. If you look at the numbers its a pretty small amount of production. 8% of total US crude production, 9% of US natural gas, and 5% of US NGLs come from wells on Federal and Tribal lands. Moreover, 30 million acres are under lease to oil and gas developers, and of that only 13 million acres are currently producing. Theoretically 17 million acres could be developed before the issue of a Federal Land lease ban would actually mean anything. I live in the epicenter of the Marcellus region. I am starting to see a lot more pneumatic trailers and sand boxes running around again, which means fracking is picking back up. I know this is anecdotal but makes sense since the price of oil has been rising. Joe Biden may have ran on anti fracking rhetoric, but the bottom line is US producers are free to drill for and extract as much as they like and/or see fit. Economics and global supply/demand factors drive their actions. The US president has almost zero control over the global oil supply and how much US producers are pumping and/or developing new wells. All I can say is you need to look and research elsewhere if you want to know why the price of fuel is what it is. The US President has almost nothing to do with it....

  4. I thought the B68 was the gasser version of the B67. I was told in B model nomenclature that even numbers had gas engines and odd numbers were diesel. Is that correct?
  5. Fuel is definitely NOT driving inflation. The high rate of inflation is due mostly to somewhere between 30% and 35% of the U.S. Dollars in existence being created out of thin air since April 2020. The CARES Act (a Trump administration policy) and other Covid 19 related spending & stimulus are now caching up with us. 1/3 of the US Dollars in existence being printed in just 2 years time will be a massive problem for years to come. High fuel prices are the least of our worries. Joe Biden or any president for that matter has almost zero to do with the price of fuel. Joe (and his handlers) is still a terrible president though.....
  6. Yea I was going to say the highest factory rating you ever really saw any Mack engine(excluding E9) prior to the E7 was 350. The introduction of the E7 and more specifically VMAC probably is what allowed them to go above 350. You are also kind of limited with the 2 valve head......
  7. Looks like you already found the proper yellow but I saw this in an old Sherwin Williams commercial truck paint refinish brochure at an antique store. I would have to guess the brochure was from the early to mid 1960s.....I don't think Sherwin Williams makes automotive coatings anymore though.....
  8. Nice pre emissions day cab there. Mack transmission, light rears, air ride, over a million miles. You used to be able to pick something like this up for $9-12,000. They are asking $40k.....Crazy what the market has done lately.

  10. I doubt it. There is so much torque limiting programming going on that you will probably rarely ever get to use the engines "rated output". Emissions. Emissions. Emissions......
  11. Not that it means anything but the Mack Website still shows 3 "performance specifications" for the MP8: Maxidyne, Maxicruise, and Econodyne. Honestly if you look at the horsepower and torque curves for the Maxidyne and Maxicruse there is almost zero difference. Actually, the Maxicruise makes slightly more peak torque at the lowest HP setting (415). If they are doing away with the Maxidyne I can see why. There is almost nothing different about it to justify its existence and affect on Volvo's bottom line. I'm sure their marketing people did a study and concluded those customers who wanted a Maxidyne would just take the Maxicruise if it was the only option.......
  12. Don't you have to take it to a PA enhanced inspection station to raise the GVW if it has previously been titled at a lower GVW and/or if you add axles? When I bought my triaxle out of Virginia it was registered at 80,000 GVW and the PA notary made me get form MV-1 (I think that was the number) filled out by an inspection mechanic that stated the truck's setup was sufficient for 73,280 GVW in Pennsylvania.
  13. Slow and steady wins the race LOL 🤣. But seriously another thing to look into is the gearing. A lot of these newer trucks have insanely (to me) fast gears to maximize fuel economy, or were specd to run in areas with no hills like the midwest. Put them in mountains with a full load and they will move the load but very slowly.....You could have one of those setups with like 3.08:1 rears......

  15. For some reason I always thought C.W. McCall was an alias or stage name of Chip Davis. I realize now that Chip Davis composed all his songs. Early in his career, Chip was working for and advertisement agency in Omaha, Nebraska writing jingles. C.W. McCall was a fictitious character for Metz's Bakery in the Omaha area. The ads featuring C.W. got so popular there Chip had the idea to compose songs featuring C.W. McCall for the radio and record label.......the rest they say is history. C.W. McCall's real name is William Dale Fries Jr.

  17. Yea I figured that would be peoples' reaction. The way I see it the information contained in those binders is worth 10x or more of the asking price (if your willing to get your hands dirty). But if you come to the this forum looking for information I assume you are willing to do your own work. I guess it just depends on your wrenching abilities and how long you expect to keep the truck for. Whenever I buy a new truck or piece of equipment the first thing I do try to find all the available shop manuals and reference material for it. I tend to buy equipment and hang onto it long term though so it eventually comes in handy.....

  19. Yea White Motors really sent a lot of once good brands/makes to their graves. Freightliner and Western Star got sold to Daimer, Autocar and White went to Volvo. Plus they destroyed the Oliver, Minneapolis Moline, and Cockshutt brands of farm equipment.

  23. Does it have to do with the motor mounts you are using and/or where the motor mounts bolt to the truck's frame? Perhaps there is variances in these that are causing the engine block to be located farther back. How much room do you have in the front?
  24. Sorry but it was not me that bought them. It was @BGarofalo that bought them for $580/tire I think he said. I was just agreeing with him that they last longer than the Chinese tires in my experience. Personally, I run caps on my drives. For my application they are the best solution. I run very few miles and am operating at fairly low speeds. They last me a very long time. I purchase Michelin or Continental steer tires when needed.
  25. Diamler Trucks North America. Its the North American arm of Daimler Truck AG, which is a massive German OEM that makes Mercedes Benz commercial trucks. Diamler Trucks North America owns Western Star, Freightliner, Detroit Diesel, and the former Sterling brand that was the former medium and heavy duty Ford trucks. I think Diamler Truck AG owns several different brands of trucks in different markets all over the world.
