  1. You wouldn't believe the expense we go thru to communicate with these trucks. The laptop alone is around 4000.00. So with that said, I don't think some charges are that out of line.
  2. You can send in your old pump to the Mack Reman Center and they can rebuild it. You have to go thru a Mack Dealer. The part number should be 316GC184NX.
  3. I'm not at work at this time. Part # is 57GC189. It is not that expensive. If the gasket is blown it has to be replaced.
  4. liner height 3 1/2 to 7 1/2 thousandths from top of deck
  5. I assuming it is a Mack engine maybe an E6. Check the height of the liners. We had an engine a month ago with one(1) liner down and it caused the head gasket to blow. The lifters I believe have nothing to do with blowing head gaskets. I'll check and see what the height of liners need to be and report back as soon as I find that dimension. If the liners are down Mack makes shims to bring to back to specs.
  6. Why dont you use some apsco valves and convert to air shift. Just an idea. We have converted alot of mechanical transmission to air shift. think about it.
  7. We are suppose to get a new MP8-425HP in the next week or so. I'll drive it and give a report asap.
  8. The new MP7 that I have drove had alot better low end torque and faster rpm climb than the E7 Aset engines. We have had only one in service without the DPF filter and it is doing a great job.
  9. I'm glad to see an ole Mack still running that was sold thru our dealership. If you can provide the complete model and serial number and if you know the original purchaser I can provide the complete details of the truck. I have files of every truck that was sold starting from 1960 to present. Let me know.
  10. Is that dry torque or wet torque? There is a difference.
  11. You are correct. split each hole.
  12. That transmission will take 80/90, capacity if I remember rights is around 34lbs.
  13. If my memory serves me right, the external air cleaners were an option around 87 or 88, before that one had to engineer it themselves.
  14. put more fuel to it. everyday check for a crack around the #1 hole.
  15. automatic-expensive, alot of engineering from an 8 sp.. buy a reman 8 sp.from a Mack dealer. A lot better reduction on the low side, warranty, better resale. Also the overdrive is different. 8 speed= .60, allison(depends on the model) from 1.00 to approx .67(electronic vs linkage?). chassis will run slower. due your homework or you be disappointed, plus out of alot of cash.
  16. Be sure and add the oil tube in your new compressor or you will burn it up. I'll supply the part number friday morning. You should put a new coupler, lock and nut on while your there.
  17. It can get confusing. Here in Oklahoma a tri axle straight truck can legally carry a total of 62K, but we also have bridge law(distance from the center of your steer axle to the center of your rear most axle), and usually a straight is not long enough to carry that weight even if the axles, tires and wheels are certified to carry that weight and usually its ass end heavy so your screwed(overloaded). I could go on and on and on and on about this. Just start reading articles about this and it will come to light. Tractors carry 80K have to be 51ft in length or longer. Every state is a little different. It's a revenue raiser for the states.
  18. Throw away the s/p switch. Install a 12v starter and 12v batteries and put an alternator on it. My 2cent. 10.00x20 takes a 7.50 rim and the 22.5 tubeless will take a 8.25 rim. The 7.50 might work, but if your heavy the sidewalls might rub each other.
  19. The E6 was 673ci and the E7 was 728ci. The V8 and vendor engines also needed bigger radiators to allow proper cooling.
