  1. I don't understand the super high axles in dump trucks either. Salesmen seem to be under the impression the low gear in the transmission can do it. In my opinion any of these new engines have over 1000 pound feet of torque right of idle ( @ 1100 or 1200 RPM) even if feathering the throttle.
  2. I don't need anything quite like that (lol) but I do like the idea of a big block. Nothing sounds like a good and healthy BBC put'n it to the ground through a 4 speed
  3. Did anyone ever actually indicate the bell housing in this truck who knew what they were doing. It screams misalignment
  4. One of those big blocks would be just right for my corvette :-) maybe not the 454
  5. That spring looks a lot like a spring from the clutch on a Mack with a cable
  6. I used to have one that was pretty close to that.
  7. Some guys never had the pleasure of seeing bald bias ply tires (rags) let alone a nice worn out one with the wear spot where the actual plys could be seen in a feathered oval (lol) !!! this look was often augmented by rims with a old lug nuts welded on each side of the the valve stem hole !!!
  8. I often wonder where these trucks have been hiding and staying so well preserved ......and somehow ?? I missed the point when cab over Freightliners actually became (gulp) COOL didn't seem that way when they were around side by side with new Superliners and such
  9. I've owned several CHs, they always proved to be a good truck and gave good service. It's only lately I'm realizing these had the potential to be really good looking trucks.😍
  10. 12/24.5 on 8.25x24.5 budd rim big as you're going to get without spending a fortune
  11. closest to a 11/24 would likely be a 12/24.5 on a ten hole tubeless Budd wheel (8.25X24.5), and that's probably still a little shorter than an 11/24. There's no cheap way to get rubber that big no matter what route you take. Not much point to a big tire on a Budd wheel as stud pilot wheels could never handle the weight a Dayton can at that size, but for a truck used for recreation ??? closest as far as looks
  12. That Davco filter isn't supposed to be full. That's how they show they're in need of replacement . The higher up you see the fuel, the dirtier the filter is and needs to be changed.
  13. That R in the add ???? I'd be happy to have that now in that shape .....even if the mirrors said Volvo
  14. Yes yes.....and I'll use that term in my deposition to Matt Cartwright as I'm out being a hero delivering "essentials" this winter right up to the point the 4.9 mil comes into the picture
  15. I had a truck with the same problem. Guy deleted the entire file and downloaded the same file back into it. There was something about not just clearing that code. ??? seemed to work when he did it.
  16. They'll be making them call black ice something else because it's offensive
  17. 3-2 can come from vibration somewhere ( even driveline ) how's the wiring harness ?
  18. I just purchased 2 Continental wide base steers (HTC3 ?) they come with a sensor inside them that they tell me communicates with the vehicle (if so equipped)
  19. If the puff limiter works the way it should. you shouldn't have lots of smoke and it should run as well as the pump is set. Releasing the parking brake should send air to the reversing relay in the intake manifold, then from there the air is metered to the puff limiter's cylinder on the pump.....which can take a few tries to shim correctly. The reason for working from the parking brake is for full rack travel for cold starts, as an engine requires a rich mixture when it's cold ....so no air to it allows full fuel at cranking when you floor it. and on that 460, the puff limiter is called an ECM (loL)
  20. Is a VHD really much different from a Granite ? I hate the idea of it, but I often wonder if Macks are headed the same direction Volvo sent Autocars.....and GMCs.......and Whites

    CTP 713

Time to sell my '07 CTP713 tri-axle dump truck. It has a 18.5 foot aluminum MAC body with heat MP 7 395 and Mack 10 speed ( the one with reverse on a button not an MLR ) overall the truck isn't in bad shape, but it's old and has lots of miles on it. It's had engine work and has been taken care of better than a lot of them everything works on it (AC , electrical stuff ) and the old dog don't look too bad (lol) if anyone is interested contact me at marktol66@gmail.com I'm realistic about the value of this truck , so no reasonable offer would offend me
  22. Those pictures are of air ride cab air bags.....with NO air in them (lol) It looks like the link is still hooked to the valve, so why there's no air in them ??? could be the valve or a leak or air supply is restricted for some reason. Get bags that hold air and replace those shocks. The bushings suggest they're old and shot which means there's a really good chance the cab mounts are wiped out too. Correct those issues and you'll see instant improvement in the ride.
  23. Cab shocks, and check to see if cab mounts are shot in the front. That's assuming the suspension is all in good shape .
  24. It used to be a comical thing seeing a regular four and a quarter Cat try'n to shake a good run'n 350.
