  1. And I would rather drive a 3208 or 555 than 6V53 screaming GM all day Paul
  2. I think your right Jo Jo People need to compare apples with apples They are a basic bare bones poverty pack motor made more short haul around type delivery type of deal I think they performed extremely well at this type of work Paul
  3. There some class looking milk trucks Paul
  4. I dunno how I made it this far with out this useful advice Bugger me I'm a looser, this bloke has it all going on Paul
  5. 3208 was available in just about everything in Australia I think they were okay for what they were and petrol motors they replaced Even the 555 was good if you compare it to the petrol V8's it replaced Ford tractors were had no liners in their diesel motors on 3000 - 5000 models As Geoff has already said, they are just like a car engine Brocky Ford Louisville trucks had them, even smaller Louisville semi trailers had them They went okay and held their own We need to remember back when these and the 555 were been sold in the U.S. the highway limit was 55 MPH and Australia it was 80 km/h for trucks so a lot less power was required Paul
  6. The wrong pinion on the starter motor The wrong clearance on the starter motor pinion to ring gear Ring gear is badly damaged in one spot and this binds on the pinion Starter shaft has no grease on it from new and is binding on the shaft Paul
  7. Yes the BMT forum is a bunch of fun and great bunch of like minded people Paul

  10. I bought Federal truck decades ago, met the Princess, told her I was busy fixing my old truck up and didn't have time for women and so on That lasted about 2 nights, I was back knocking on her front door and she greated me with "so the trucks finished ?" Well we were married 6 months later, bought a dairy farm, bought other trucks bought a sugar cane farm at the other end of Australia raised a boy, back farming still Still have that first truck, still haven't got much further and still have the Princess that sorta talks to me most of the time 🤣 Paul
  11. Apparently theres need to worry about having a small deck Joey Paul
  12. Yep, that's what I did and feel it was a great deal considering how much enjoyment I get from been a member here Paul
  13. There weren't many of these PowerWagons in Australia My brother bought one years ago after I showed him some, he never new about the PowerWagon until then, and put it in the shed to fix one day I doubt that day will ever arrive
  14. With all this good weather and pitman arm off, Im expecting big results tomorrow when I wake up 🤣 Box off and seals out on the bench No pressure at all ha ha ha Paul
  15. Brocky the salt flat racing isnt very widely known about in Australia We have huge salt flats in South Australia that cover at guess many millions of acres The middle of Lake Eyre is something like 30 - 50 feet bellow see level Lake Eyre is 2.3 million acres on its own Lake Gardiner is 1.1 million acres Lake Eyre is circled in red and Lake Gardiner is circled in green Paul
  16. Don't be to hard on him or her, we all reckon we are fairly smart as no doubt did the fella the welded all that on there Paul
  17. Could always just pull a few leafs out of the spring packs and lower the air pressure I'm just lowering the tyre pressure will give some pretty substantial changes Looks like your already on tubeless tyres so 50 - 55 psi is not a problem for running bob tail Paul
  18. Happy birthday Brocky, dunno if Im late or still sneaking in on time Hope your having a great day Paul
  19. 36 years of bliss, my Princess isn't remotely interested in my truck, she reckons it's all a waist of money Your on a winner there Happy anniversary Paul
  20. Nope still coming up here Paul
  21. Depending on the amount of rain, would say unlikely for hydro lock However it is possible, especially if were it was unlucky enough to have the aircleaner fully removed and the down pipe running into the motor However I believe it was running, and just stopped while running so to me that rules out hydro locked Paul
  22. Yep, same same here Paul
  23. I went through all steering box oil leak repairs on my bucket of bolts Finally got it all oil tight and was still loosing oil through the pump Oh dear, for me it was amazing just how how bad my truck was and also just how much was wrong It took a lot of attempts on my behalf tp finally get it sorted As my mate says "it costs a fortune in oil to just run out on the ground and only 50 cents and time for a oil seal" Anyway I'm sure your all over this Bob Back when the Princess and I first got hitched our neighbour had lattice work and a potato vine growing up and over the top We would go up to the dairy farm we were getting going every two out of three weekends Well bugger me, we come home after one weekend and the latice is removed, the garden bed is trampled flat So I chat to the neighbour about this and suggest he probably shouldn't be doing all this without letting us know Anyway he tells me he is all done Nothing happens until next time we are away Get home garden is completely stuffed now and the fence is like the great China wall I promptly loose my cool and rip it all down, I think I was more shitty at him coming onto our place with out asking than to build a fence like the great wall of China and to be so gutless that he waited until we weren't there Not often I loose my shit, but I was fully wound up that afternoon lol Good luck with the neighbour and your grand erection Paul
  24. It makes the almost new R model on a different thread look like a bargain I know which I would rather have Anyway a good result for the seller and I hope the new owner is happy Hang on, I thought was meant to be a "cost of living crisis" in Australia at the moment I'm clearly to bigger soft cock and to harder at auction time Paul
