  1. Yeah but that's the exception Brocky, most of our roads are very flat and straight What we call a mountain range is just a bump by world standards Paul
  2. Grrat stuff, needed a beer to lubricate the throat Paul
  3. Good job for you and your lovely wife to enjoy in your golden years Then again why wait until your to old to see such tiny things as model pieces ha ha Paul
  4. I just polished my own bull bar my self Came up okay, needs another polish I spent days welding and grinding all the bolt and rivit holes Of course every cock sucker without a truck told me they could still see imperfections Wankers are everywhere ha ha I Paul
  5. Some foundries in Australia will cast brake drums that are no longer available They need to make the pattern first and then cast exactly what you need The cost is 3 or 4 times what standard off the shelf drum costs You get a bare casting that needs machining Im sure this is also doable in the U.S. Paul
  6. I doubt you'll buy something off the shelf However, that isn't a drama Find a 15 inch drum machine it to suit Something like this So it's 180 mm deep, 5 inches is roughly 125 mm Machine it down to suit that width drum ThenI dunno about the center, but it can be re drilled and machined to suit what you need You will not buy what you need new, all the secondhand ones will most likely be worn out Gotta adapt something to suit And if this is no good, then assuming the truck has 20inch wheels or bigger then adapt the truck to a more common brake combo This really isnt to bigger issue, just saying Paul
  7. I have never been to the State's so dunno bugger all about driving there I wonder if it was more common on the east coast than the west coast of the State's ? I wonder are the roads a lot windier (dunno if that's the right spelling or not) than Australia Even on our really rough work there is, as far as I know, just one steering box I was surprised going to New Zealand just how narrow and winding their roads are compared to Australia, lot's more hills than Australia So I'm thinking it has a lot to do with the operating environment Paul
  8. Foot race ha ha, big head ha ha ha ha Sounds like great time was had, at least you didn't end up passed out on the front lawn like my mate and I did after having a whirl on the "goon of fortune game" A very faint memory of people helping to walk and rolling me into a car lol Paul
  9. So from what I'm reading here, I'm thinking the second steering box was for making it easier on the mechanical side of the steering for tight maneuvering by working on two tie rods instead of just one For trucks running around in town, backing into tight spots and so on, not for line haul interstate trucks Fairly smart idea if I have that correct Paul
  10. There's been plenty of trucks of different makes called the "the other woman" There was a series of mk II Superliners in Australia named after famous Australians Back in the B model Mack days a lotta trucks had name's Reportedly a lotta of the drivers couldn't read or right very well and the trucks in fleets in Australia were given names and if parts were needed the driver could get the message back that such and a truck needed what ever it was I dunno, to the character of the truck sort of developes as it's life progresses Paul
  11. When they had the tonight show or what ever it was called I never liked Jay Leno To me he was just a loud mouth Yank Then, thanks to this forum I was introduced to Jay Leno's garage and I saw a whole different side to him He was quiet and very humble and really polite to everyone I think there's more tp this interview some where in cyber land He really is pretty special Paul
  12. It was a Yanky thing in Seppo land only as far as I know I have no idea why, and will never understand a lot of this over complicated stuff Paul

  14. For a closer look at this trailer Swishman Paul
  15. Econodyne was after the tip turbine was stopped Higher boost meant a better fuel air ratio was obtained over a bigger rev range I would also think that because your not waiting for the turbine to cool the air a much better air fuel ratio is obtained quicker Paul
  16. Would think a few the axles might steer on that trailer Paul
  17. I would think some Googling about or searching on this forum should yield some photos Paul
