  3. feet and inchs or metric depending on when you grew up in Australia some can only do metric or some can do imperial or smart buggers like me can do both with out even thinking and you bloody yanks made your gallons tons ect all wrong and then you all start yacking about how many pounds your gross weight is oh my god my brains gonna explode its all to much just when I thought I was smart LOL Paul do you blokes have step tanks over there hey and whats this hauling to Ayr you better drop in for a cuppa Ayr's my home town I'll get princess to bung some scones in the oven and chuck the kettle on I guess if you have no idea what what I'm going on about then maybe theres two Ayrs in the world ?
  4. Well I might pull my self away from sugar cane farming as it heads north go and have a look and see if mrsmack has really aged that much and lever 94 you might be right but the only way we learn anything is by looking what others are doing yeah its not Mack but all things on here arent Mack Paul
  5. Keith well at least we have something to look forward to I have mentioned it to the Princess a few more times she hasnt said yes but more importantly she she hasnt said no either so you never know might have to learn some French Paul
  6. the drive shaft has to have phase angles set you might need to check them jump on to google theres plenty of information the one that I dont see is when you have more than on drive shaft in a row the uni's should not be in a straight line as they interfear with each other they should be set lagging behind the front shaft one tooth as you are coming back from the transmission have had this cause problems for me in the past as to the other part of the question the drive shaft not vibrate at all no matter whats speed oh and make sure the big bolt in the gear box yoke is tight this has also caused me grief before Paul
  7. well snowdog once I got onto youtube man was I educated I told the princess we gonna have to go for a look next year she didnt say no either that or its going on the bucket list thanks for educating me Paul
  8. yeah I didnt no that dayton webb california or shakers were wheels there called spiders in Australia and were the most common wheel to maybe 15 years ago I still reckon there the go good to see you got the problem fixed Im surprised you are still using caps they almost as much as a clean skin out here and I cant think of anyone using them at all Paul
  9. how good is that looks like a whole bucket load of fun to be had they dont have nothing like this in Australia that I have ever seen thanks for sharing Paul
  10. dont you just tighten the studs on the outside bit of the wobble and loosen inside bit of the wobble leave wheel jacked up sit a can of CRC on the ground almost touching the wall of tyre take the brake off and roll around by hand and keep on loosening and tightening till it runs true or at least thats the way I do it I dont have to muck about cleaning and stuff just bang the dirt and rust off then it should be good to go I guess the only other thing to check is make sure there is no big dents in the spacer Paul
  11. mate I just push the clutch in pull the stick out of deep reduction I dont shift the main box into neutral air coming out might mean the pressure regulator on the top of the box is set to high or the air rams need some new o rings if it is coming from around the gear stick might need a kit there either way it wont be much Paul
  12. deep reduction can only be used in 1st gear there is a mechanical interlock to prevent it been used in any other gear when I go to split gears I find the truck is moving to slow to warrant splitting most gears 1st-4th for these changes to be worth while with most splitting is in traffic in the lower gears if I was to be running out of revs to low our to high I just give it a flick and and and off the gas and I have got another 400rpm either way the only thing to be awear of is that once you flick the range change there is pressure on the selector fork were as in road ranger there is only pressure when the gear stick passes through neutral so there is potential to put a lot of were on the selector fork on a Mack box I was always told if I am climbing a hill to change gears to match the hill ie if I can make it over by splitting a gear then just split the gear if I cant then wait a bit longer and drop a full gear but I think you could only do that with a Mack motor they seem to lug right down like no other motor Ive ever driven Paul
  13. depends on the tons your hauling this is me up to 42.5 tons 1 trailer start off with deep reduction in high 1st low split, 2nd gear low split, 3rd low, split 4th, 5th low split then flick it into high range up to 75 tons eg 2 trailers start off deep reduction in high range 1st low split, 2nd low split, 3rd low split , 3rd high and continue up splitting the gears up to 115 tons tripple road train start off with deep reduction in high range 1st low split ,2nd low split, 2nd high split then split all gears onward if I am am starting on a steep hill with big tonnage eg over 75 tons I might start off in deep reduction but you gotta be real careful as things can break real easy I have broken carrier bearing bolts pretty easy to smoke the drive tyres while waiting for the back trailer brakes to lift off all this depends on the road and the load dunno if this answers your question will be interesting see what other people say Paul
  14. well Im still all a bit stunned by these hey Josh whats a baby quad a small quad box or the bogie ? this been educational thanks lads Paul
  15. well Im no expert but this is quite common in farm tractors older ones before they all had cabs water always goes in through the gear sticks most farmers would cut a tennis ball in half and put half over each gear stick to keep the water out not that this is going to help you but if you do long runs and the breathers blocked it will suck water in any spots it can when the oil cools down at least thats what happens on tractors Paul
  16. yeah mate Im with you I never heard of one either Paul
