Thats a cool old truck I bet if you spoke to the right person they would tell you how to remove that paint with out trash the paint under neath I phoned the museum in Melb once asking questions about that type of thing and they were very helpful I reckon I know a bloke in Victoria not knowing were you are that could help or point you in the right direction to get it sorted What model Cat motor did the B model have looks like would have been fairly smart looking jigger Paul

Well I have good news and bad news bad news is it appears you have addiction to collecting some pretty cool stuff the good news your not alone If you had of put a bit more chassis rail in you maybe could have put a tilt tray on with some quick release locks and you could use it for a semi and a tilt tray, may come in handy for bringing home some treasure Paul

Under each rocker there is a bridging piece that push both valves on the inlet or exhaust at the same time Highly unlikely that all solenoids are crook at the same time grab a multi meter and check the coils you may have to get some emery and clean up the contact a bit to get a good test most likely the connection between the rocker cover and the head is not installed correctly or has no proper connection but test the solenoids first as that will tell the story

You know what really dags me these days is how as soon as some one says something someone else might not like people start to bitch and sook and cry fowl say we are putting them down As far as knocking the US while I dont agree with everything that goes on over there I do hold the US in fairly high regard I do often think about all the men who gave their lives to fight a fight that wasnt really theirs but they felt that it was the right thing to do very much like my own country men I also truly believe that in the US just like Australia although the all mighty dollar is important that in times of need almost all from all walks of life put that and other differences aside for the good of man The beliefs that we in Australia hold near and dear and give our lives for are similar if not almost the same as those in the US So yeah I crack the shits when some body implies Im knocking the US as believe most Americans arent that much different than most Australians What made me think of this well the Princess sent me a link to a story in the US and its a story that I have seen and been apart of in Australia before about people helping out people not for any monetary gain but because its the right thing to do now thats what makes this country great and also expect thats what makes your country great To imply Im knocking the US well when I was fertilizing my sugar cane in my US based Australianised IH tractor I got to thinking my ute is GM the Princesses wagon is GM heck the Mack US Australianised product my old Chamberlain tractor was made by John Deere Fruhauf trailers Steco float even the Federal truck the list goes even a lot of my good tools are US made heck if anyone actually pulled their head out of their ass and read what was typed they might find the US has a lot more friends than they think our troops are still fighting along side your troops and no doubt always will Back to the link it has trucks in it so I guess its ok on a truck forum hope the link works as we say in Australia " I will now get off my soap box" rant over have a good night Paul http://bonviral.com/community-rallies-together-to-help-farmer-with-terminal-cancer-reap-last-harvest/

Im not knocking the US at all but on some issues it appears from the outside looking in if the congress wants to make a big difference there is some obvious things that maybe needed to be looked at And no one has called the US dumb stupid or lazy or even implied it I have just asked some questions ????? But the US congress has asked the question so maybe its worth the answer I dont think anyone has said the US truck industry isnt smart or efficient but the question any one should ask is how much better could it be if they had better roads and trucks and trailers to do it with I dont think anyone is saying anyone is dumb Maybe the industry isnt ready for a adult conversation after all Paul
  9. that makes no sense to me at all curtain sided trailers are so much quicker to load and unload there must be a good reason why they havent be adopted in the US
  10. Gotta say even though I was brought up in the metric era, I still prefer feet and inches. It's quicker and more accurate for most things I do. But it is important to at least have the ability to work in metric if you have to, and better if you can work in both. And yes, most flat top trailers in Australia have three way pins so can have 2 x 20 1 x 40 or 1 x 20 heavy container in the middle. I think I have asked this before. Does the US have curtain sided taut liner trailers like the rest of the world?? They would be the most popular trailer in Australia now. Paul

Before reading any further please dont anyone take offence I was talking about how backwards the US trucking industry is compared to the rest of the world today as in the trailers that are required to haul heavy loads over size loads etc even the normal semi trailer the US has is all ass about nothing is matched to what the rest of the world does, the US hasnt even tried to make anything normal Take the B double and or B triple we use out here or the quad road trains the are all in 20 foot or 40 foot groups or there abouts to match shipping containers so even if its load into a trailer you pull up at the other end and it will fit in a container not a container and a bit or in the case of the 28 foot trailer mentioned above like really how does all this mess work Im sure you have all seen the you tube clips with large over sized load on a US trailer that just tips over even when its parked still, Australia NZ and Europe have trailers that widen out real wide to carry over width loads stable as Even low loaders that the rest of the world use now have the whole deck flat no going up over a hump for the trailer axles The US transport industry standing from the out side looking in seems to be all out of kilter compared to the rest of the world or at least thats the way it seems to me and it must have a impact on the ability of the US to trade with the rest of the world Even the fwy system is now behind the rest of the world the over pass bridges are a lot lower imagine if cattle trucks could carry two full decks of cattle instead of 1 a half decks We have cattle trains out here each crate on the train is 40 foot and goes on the same as 40 foot shipping container just think a triple road train pulls up 6 decks of cattle all in 40 foot sections 6 crates on the train Right back in the begging in Australia cattle trailers and the pens on them were built to match rail wagons the first shipping containers used in Australia were built to fit trucks and trains all this makes for quicker turn arounds and freight getting shifted faster and cheaper and as such everyone benefits Anyway enough waffle from me but if you gunna change it all try and get it right I would have thought but Im only a farmer so I wouldnt know anything seeya Paul
  12. It's a brand we don't see a lot of any more out here. Were held in high regard once. Not sure what happened. Maybe they decided the Australian market is so small that it's not worth the big push they once had.

  14. You are lacking compression by the sounds of it check the valve clearance if the rest of the motor was rebuilt it doesnt leave much else Paul
  15. Those are good looking Scania's you have there dunno much about any of them new ones but the older Scanias are as tough as boots and seem to last for ever Paul

That does not surprise me one bit , as far as I know you are still fairly safe out here in the big cities then again I live nearly a 1000 mile from what would be called a big city, but if shoe were to fit in any Australia city so be it as well High time we stopped kidding our selves about this type of stuff and started speaking the truth and only then can they start to fix it Paul

I have seen Steiger stuck like that it was laser leveling at night and a old dam had been filled in earlier was driving over the top with a scoop full of dirt and she sunk down on one side like that , The tractor only had a door on one side and the bottom of the door was in the dirt , the driver had to sit till morning for the next shift on strange angle true story Paul

  20. mate need to put up a picture of the injector pump so people can help you solve the problem if you have smoke coming out the exhaust you have fuel compression must be low make check the valve clearance ? Paul

  22. The orange tractor you would have seen is a Fiat high clearance for the sugar cane. We are sugar cane farming, hay and about to try mung beans, a bit of everything. The loader tractor is a Chamberlain, an Aussie brand made up till the mid 80's until John Deere took them over in the recession of the 80's. This ground is all flood irrigated. It's fairly flat and we have no winter, just a wet season and a dry season. Paul
  23. If this motor turns over really easy maybe the timing is out one tooth maybe check the cam and injector pump are still correctly timed to the crank I guess with out been there its hard to tell but start at the basics and work from there Paul
