  1. Is there any import tarriff on heavy trucks into the U.S. at the moment ? I personally don't have any issues with tarriffs as we had them up until the 80's and back then nearly everything you could think of was made in Australia All part of the "Agenda 21" and level playing field rubbish has ruined Australian manufacturing I suspect the U.S. is similar Heck, we used export Australian made cars around the world back then Paul
  2. Saw this last night Paul
  3. Oh I feel your pain, the battle is real Pruning a creeper in the back yard with lots of instruction and no assistance Aint life just ducky ha ha ha Paul
  4. Just roll the drum with spider still attached outside and then drop it apart You'll be surprised at how easy it rolls without wheels Get a sheet of ply for on the ground, even if you have cement area to work on, it is much easier to scrape the crud off the ply than explain why you keep walking grease into the house for the next 6 months Paul
  5. That's a lot of truck, very impressive Paul
  6. Thia spring Brocky This spring just holds the top bits together to stop the oil coming out Paul
  7. Now that we know what is happening it makes it easier to offer solutions The end of the stick is badly worn as the dogs it grabs shifting gears are allowing the stick to slide through the gap Now you could replace heaps of stuff or do what I would do Build up the end of the stick a bit so it can no longer slip between the dogs I would build it up with the welder and then grind back until it is the right shape and can no longer even get close to fitting between the dogs So if you can see the dog/cleat, dunno what the proper name is for it that the stick slots into to change gears The one above is on a 5 or 10 speed by the looks A 12 speed is almost the same so this picture will do fine Here is a picture of a 12 speed and the sticks go in the front cover in the deep reduction side, not the main box, at least on the ones I have worked on So the good news is, you can pull the floor in the truck and lift the lid off the box quite easily Another picture showing a top view but missing the dogs off the rods This is a relatively easy fix on the weekend with basic tools Paul
  8. Now that you have the bolts out of the shield, you also have the bolts out that hold the drum to the spider Just a bit of a pry with a bar and a whack with hammer should seperate the two really heavy bits to two bits you can then man handle a lot easier It will make life a lot easier to clean the mess up A wire wheel on a angle grinder will get most of that crap off in a few minutes Paul
  9. Pretty sure the same or similar rules are in Australia All new installations must have hardwired smoke alarms All rentals must have hardwired smoke alarms Rules are similar Only thing is the Princess makes more noise than any smoke alarm will if the smoke alarm goes Oh my god she puts on a performance So I just pull the smoke alarms out and reckon it makes life easier than been married to someone screaming her head off But electrical fires arenot caused by a cable shorting, a short circuit fault will trip the breaker or blow a fuse in a millie second Loose connections cause fires No electrical protection device can stop a shoddy workmanship Paul
  10. I'm sure you won't have any trouble finding a buyer, looks like a great truck Paul
  11. Looking good, yes this metric thing is a problem at times, lucky we can get both easily in Australia Means we have twicd as much crap laying about Nice touch on the axle housing Paul
  12. Well, be blowed, unlike the breaker that didn't trip Was it a RCD, RCBO or a CB type of breaker that didn't trip ? Depending on the types of circuit protection as to the types of faults that trip the breakers Rewirable fuses are as basic as you can get and all have to be removed when any electrical work is done in Australia Smoke alarms are something I don't use at all and generally pull them out of the house Proper circuit design and installation with correct size circuit protection are gunna save you a lot more head ache Problem is, hardly any electricians actually do this and use the "rule of thumb" method that works most times Anyway, the main thing is your safe There is substitute for a good electrician, and you only get what you pay for as well Everyone wants to screw people on the price and then cry fowl when they get a less than desirable result Stay safe out there Paul
  13. Could a garage door spring front a tilting How to Measure Garage Door Torsion Springs | IDC Spring https://share.google/xyoyYEXRk4NstNITe Or maybe a conduit bending spring Paul
  14. Maybe load it to youtube or someother host site and share the link might work Not to worry, it sounds like a interesting film Some rig truck operators are so gentle when the load is winched past the balance point and the front wheels gently touch the ground and others are, rip tear and bust Paul
  15. What sort of physical size are the springs ? As in diameter and material and length Paul
  16. My Federal also had the true stop E brake when new but all missing by the time it arrived in my life Any chance of sharing the super 8 movie ? Paul
  17. Struth, that would of woken everyone right up Things do happen so easily and so quickly Paul
  18. I wouldn't be surprised if the 6 71 was a re power The 6-71 is small on power but big on width and length and they aren't really well suited to fit into trucks, they are just about two wide to fit in between a road going truck chassis, they do fit but are very tight Paul
  19. Oh, that's no good at all Paul
  20. Looks like beautiful weather and a wonderful day was had by all A great turnout as well Paul
  21. That's some big investment now, old crawlers usually aren't worth spending the money on if the walking gear ia buggered Plenty of machines in Australia are bought just for their walking gear Paul
  22. Well thats fantastic, that certainly put a smile on my face I'm sure he'll enjoy the challenge and the fun that comes with it Well done Mum and Dad, you've done well Paul
  23. Sounds like something may of let go Have you had the cover off the side and looked for any metal Drained the back end and looked for metal If theres no metal it might be just a seal As to how you fix it, I have never had a Mack diff center fail so I'm of no help here Paul
