empty trailer Chicago to Long Island
Lmackattack replied to Lmackattack's topic in Transportation Board
Well that was a fun Trip... dead headed out to Long Island Tuesday. Hit the G.W bridge at midnight and started lousing all my teeth from there to the L.I.E. Holy hell are those roads bad. They must pave them with the help of a compacter roller? got close to my destanation at 1 am and got a hotel. Next Morning I arrice where I had to blind side into a alley way with about 6" on either side of the truck. that took about 15 min and wore off about 4 years of clutch life. Loaded the 53' van by hand with no loading dock. did have 5 guys to help tho. one guy dropped a metal plate on his foot and had to be hauled out in an ambulance with a broken foot or ankel? He was hurt bad... Left there at 3pm and Headed to Thadddeus place near Queens N.Y. to pick up some stuff for Rob and Yep....made note to self, never ask a New Yorker if you can get a 65' truck down their street. if there is just 66' space it will go! LOL... I made it in but barely made it out. One way street cars double parked in a tight N.Y. neighborhood. Had to pay some guys to help load the stuff as it was heavy for 2 guys, one of them with a bum foot but we got it done quick. took out some tree limbs making a hard right hope they did not fall on any cars????Noticed every bridge in N.Y marked 12'6" ? Yet I made it under them all after coming to a complete stop and sticking my head out the window as a crawl under them slowly? Then off to N.J. to get my 12 speed. hit the L.I.E west bound under the Brooklyn Bridge and over the verrazaano narrows bridge to the NJTP. met some clown youngster container hauler in a Junk CH mack running up a incline in 2nd gear. For some reaseon he dident want me to pass in the far left lane. he tried to block the left 2 lanes so me and the trucks behind me could not pass him? State law says no trucks in the far left but Im just a Law braking Trucker.....Myself and another driver politely showed him over to the far right. Made it to NJ where I got my 12 Transmission and was heading home by 6PM. -

I guess you could do as you said. if your worried about the exhaust gas in the tank trick.....My advice is to rince that tank out with soap/degreaser and water. let the hose run for about 30mins so that its pretty flushed out and clean. now stand the tank on end and drill the tank for your drain. put the cap on the filler neck and then Fill the tank with water through the drilled hole so that the water level is just below that hole. the water will take up most of the volume in the tank and reduce the risk of a big bomb. this is what I did when I welded my PTO hose fittings on my Tank.

Trucking News: Teamsters Endorse Obama in 2012
Lmackattack replied to BMT Forum Bot's topic in Trucking News
give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him to fish he will eat forever. give a man a dollar and he will spend it. teach him how to make a dollar and he will earn thousands. steal from me once shame on you. steal from me twice, pay the price see the pattern Obozo has given out so much money to people that did nothing that I suspect that few will try to work another day in their life. and thats how he will attempt to win the next election. Fags, queens, blacks, mexicans, make up a huge portion of the population. now add in the idiot white folks and you have almost 50% of the nation sucking on his Tits just to servive. Wish I could move to an island and live life out like out founding fathers had wanted us to.. -

Superliner and R model hood
Lmackattack replied to Stingray698's topic in Exterior, Cab, Accessories and Detailing
the cabs are basicly the same from the firewall to back of cab. the diffrence is in the cowl. A superliner hood has straight flat sides where the R model hood has slanted sides and a diffrent body line. Trent -
Does the same for me...just turn the volume down.

sounds like air in the system or the flow is to much for the filter. You can run without it. they did it for years untill someone thouht it needed a filter.. i run mine without a filter

im working on 7 years and just can stand it anymore. I had the truck out tonight for a run and was thinking I cant wait for more gears and top speed. And now that IL interstates are 65MPH I get passed like im standing still. At 55MPH it would be a 1 1/2 day tripto get to the mack show. It should only be a 3/4 day trip if your not pushing it hard.

I would say 20 is a little to low at full load. I had a simmalr problem with a mechanical engine. 16 psi Max under load.was smoking all the time. I Found that My turbo housing was melting away and the exhaust was bypassing the blades of the impeller. I put a new/used turbo on and she now puts down 27PSI. and only smokes if there is no boost. I say search for an boost issue or a leak in the intake system.

If I get this 12 speed in this year I will hopefully be there in 2013. I just cant make that drive at 55mph. I can run flat foot at 62 but I just dont like that. Trent

just a thought but the block temp can be higher or lower than the water temp. the water is used to cool the engine and carry it away. Try aiming the temp gun at the radiator inlet and see what temp that is at. then shoot the radiator exit. I would suspect the head will always be hotter than the water is. Whats your oil temp? its normaly 10 deg less or the same as the water temp. these new engines are designed to use both the oil and water to help keep things cool and under control.

Think I made a deal on one for $2700. Guy had it rebuilt 6 years ago at a cost of $3600 and just has it sitting on the floor as a spare. he had 2 trucks with a 12 speeds. All its missing is the stick shift. I will be out to pick it up in July and the only think to inspect will be to see if it has the rear splined countershaft for a Mack PTO. we will see... Trent
