  1. sounds like the shift Cyl is worn or you have gunk build up? worse case is you have bad shift forks. like rob said..an easy fix
  2. Chicago is odd.. The city is 80% Democrats... then you go out to the burbs and most are Republicans... Chicago is what makes or brakes the vote for the whole state. then again I never understood how the Mob ruled Chicago if it was filled with those Dems trying to share everyones earnings. The Mob seam like true Republicans. Think about it..the Mob always wanted to keep the things that they "earned" shared just with the close family. Messed up town I live in!
  3. most other outfits dont have these problems????
  4. I will say that I enjoy the club and have met lots of new friends because of it. However I agree that they do over police the message boards. Im fine with keeping things very clean and safe for familys but they will edit anything that they man not agree with. if the mod thought that your post had little to do with the topic they deleted or edit it. I have to ask why if the post was simply a discussion about the topic. I just hope this current change of events does not damage the club.
  5. Im hearing that the ATHS is having some more issues regarding the leadership. anyone catch this? something about the leaders selling off a donated Mack and changing how the ownership of the online fourms. I Hear this mess has cause some chapters to disband. From what the regulars are saying its time to vote out the leaders before they damage it anymore..there has to be more of this story? Trent
  6. cool pics.... I have seen a LT or LJ with the same hood. there is a Guy out in CA that still has one. Trent
  7. Jim sounds right if I recall...The F model cab was sittin up on a container or something for years. you could see it from the street... Yea there was not alot of gold in the containers but there was alot of little things that were of good use... Speaking of old Chicago trucking companys...I wonder if Greco stil has those old R models on jack stands?I was there 6-7 years ago when they had the RS700Ls for sale. they had some other cool stuff that was lightly used think they had a V8 C model as well?
  8. 2 years before Celli moved I went over to their yard and talked with a guy. think his name was Jim or frank? Al... I know you know the guy im talkig about as you know him... He let me go through their used parts trailers and they had about 6 of those Clariben hoods all used and just sitting there waiting to be thrown away. I did not care for them so I passed. They also had the old 5 hand hole budds that I picked up and some NOS doors. It was a great find for old B model parts. I was going to grab the "northwest Mack" lettering off the building after they started to knock it down But I was a week to late. I think someone had already grabbed them??? Trent
  9. thats good to hear Al...I dident know they relocated. Are they still a mack dealer? Also There is still a Celli B model Water truck sitting it Orient Express yard off Rt12. Think it was moved there when the old yard was leveled? Trent
  10. Robbie was at a Street Race track for a big jump in down town D.C This was about 6 years ago? We were there selling race car parts for the ALMS series. He cam on the truck looking to buy some glue to keep his rubber handle bar grips tight. We dident have any glue but I suggested that he try hair spray as thats what we used when i was a kid. He said he had forgotten all about that trick but agreed that it works pretty good. that was my 5 mins of spotlight... Trent
  11. The Lot with the Celli Trucks had all sorts of stuff that was being cut up. I think the scrap man bought them all from Celli and was cutting them up where Celli had parked them years before. My B model had a 8" Tree growing up throught the frame rail so who knows how long they were parked there? There was 1 A model, 2 B models, and 1 or 2 BCRs. I was able to have the scrappers hold off cutting up everthing but the BCRs (no one wanted them at the tine) I cant recall how I found them in the field but I think a friend had tiped me off and put me in touch with the scrapper? I do recall that the BCRs were rotted out pretty bad. worse than the B models. Celli also had lots of odd stuff at their yard including those ugly Clarbian (SP?) B model tilt hoods. and a new bare F model day cab. Celli..i.e C.T.C has sence changed names to Concrete Transport Company?? sadly the Northwest Mack / CTC building was leveled a few years ago. trent
  12. what pisses me off is that your truck can be top notch shape but as soon as they see that they go looking for something to fail it. I Drive a 1996 IH at work. 360k on the truck never left me stranded yet. has had 2 issues that we had fixed within a few days down time. Yet every time I have been inspected I get warnings for stupid things that have no meaning to possible fail. I was issued a warning for bad brake adjustment yet when i checked(after they noted it) It was withing spec? I was issued a warning for an oil leak off the transmission....It was grease from the throwout bearing zerk hose. I was issued a warning for bad reverse light. Light worked but the sensor was bad.. Yet I watched trucks roll past me with fuel tanks steps blowing in the wind and trucks that had tires so bald you could see the belts... Just like keeping a clean washed truck is not the Best idea anymore. they wont get under a dirty truck. but have some pride and you will be waved over to the side for them to get under it.
  13. yep thats just filler panels to hide the bare spots next to the B model radiator. I know there is a sales broshure that noted the componets in the BCR kit. Dont think a larger radiator is needed tho if you kept the stock 673 or 711 in the frame. Cool find!
  14. can we sticky this for a week or so...just so it stays at the top of the page? This really has me pissed right now!
  15. http://www.change.org/petitions/farmington-new-hampshire-court-house-police-chief-scott-roberge-withdraw-charges-and-court-fees-against-dennis-fleming-for-reckless-conduct# I signed and emailed the PD..linked to my Facebook account to try and help this American. This is absolute bull shit Trent
  16. saw that on Ebay last night..good looking truck.
  17. good one greg!!!!!...I think Robs needs to teach her to keep a close eye on the fuel gauge.
  18. the time and cost to fix that you would be better off to get a good used cab that was heading to scrap.
  19. for ease of power upgrades... stock 285 or a 2v 300 with a tip turbine added. both will fit with front pully swaps . 237s will also work but the added cooling of a charge cooler will do a little better. We pull with a 72 R model and have a 285/6 speed. does pretty good with just a wide open pump. Search "Last Call Mack" on you tube
  20. Rob I think Thats correct with the introduction of the 300HP maxidyne. the hoods also were a few inches longer to help fit the front mount intercooler
  21. intresting...I thought only the 300+ had water and air charge??? I just picked up a air and water box for my 285. just to have as a spare.
  22. Correct me if im wrong... all the 285 tip turbines were only charge air intercooled all 300+ tip turbines were charge air and water intercooled I seam to only see the combo air/water intercooled set up on just the 300+ engines? anyone the EK truck looks to e a 285 as it lacks the water lines and water intercooler on the box. trent
  23. Sorry "mate" LOL I I was noting the Starboard side of the engine...you know the side the Turbo hangs from if its a 6 speed you only can get 6 progressive up shifts. the 6 speed is just a basic 5 speed but it gives you that one extra low low gear. You can start in 1st low "L" and shift all the way up into 5th then split it into direct "D". doesent matter where you make the split from L into D but you only have 6 forward speeds. on the older 2 stick 6 speeds I Often I started out with Low, up shift 1-2-3 then split into 3rd Direct then continued the upshift 4th-5th (total of 6 speeds) reason for this is many times when you use low 1st you had to stay in that gear untill you reached hard level ground. if not when you tried to make the split you were just going to slow and the truck stopped before you can grab the next higher gear. there was also 12 speed that was real nice. most times you drive it like it was a 6 speed but you could split each gear giving you a total of 12 speeds. the top gears were over drive and the bottom were very slow. it was the perfect trans for macks that ran the on/off roads. you have a good rear mount PTO! it runs off the front box so it turns off engine RPM so long as the clutch is engaged. the side mount pto ran off the transmission gearing and you had to put the aux in nutral and main in 1st or 2nd to properly operate it at a safe speed.
  24. if the injectors heads can be seen from the passenger side its a 2V If you can only see where the fuel lines enter at the side of the heads its a 4V are you sure its a 10 speed? Many of those were just 6 speeds. But as said it could be a 7-8 or 12 speed as well. You use low "L" just in 1st and then split it into direct "D" then shift 2-3-4-5 giving you 6 total forward gears and 5 reverse gears. IIRC there were the standard 6 and 8 bolt pto mounts on the 6 speed case. many also had the option for Macks rear mount PTO that ran off the lower contershaft via a splined coupling.
