  1. If I recall apl lines had helped set this up if you notice all the containers were apl... I got to see this loco once when it came near Chicago...was very impressive. I have seen the challenger that's parked in north platt NB and want to stop to seethe bid boy and ddx40 as you enter the state on I-80. The up tower in north platt is worth a stop if your heading that way. I think it's the countrys largest rail yard.? I'm heading to Baltimore next week I plan to stop at the b&o museum. They have lots of steam locos to view...
  2. Mount locations. Push or pull style clutch. Fitment of misc parts on the frame rail. Regardless. It should be a fairly easy swap.
  3. How are you prepping the sleeper for paint... I picked up a able body but it has lots of corission. Debating weather to put new skins on or try to sandblast it and skim coat the bad spots...
  4. im just trying to think if water can get into the intake easy. but you said that all holes were filled and you did not crank so that means at least a few cyl would have had the valves shut and would not let water in those holes??? so again that would bring it back to the head gasket. I guess if the heads check out OK you can re install them and do a pressure check on each cyl and see if air is escaping past the gasket or liner? it sounds like the leak will be noticable if its filling all 6 holes.... FYI... keep them holes oiled down well now that water got down on the pistons. I would dump a 1/4 qt of oil in each hole and let it soak back into the rings/pan or just put some WD40 in them . keep us posted !
  5. Are you saying it had an auto trans with a quad behind it...LOL never heard of that tried before???? Here are some options that will work great with that engine. 12 speed mack 9 speed mack 13 speed mack Eaton 8LL eaton fuller 13 speed but....we need to know 2 things 1)what rear end ratio do you have now? 2)is that EM7 a "low rpm" engine? All the transmissions I listed have diffrent over drive and first gear ratios. Going fast is easy to do... going fast and being able to pull a load thru thick clay in a low gear is where proper gearing vs RPM is key. without knowing your rear end ratio and max RPM im just shoting in the dark. But we can help, just get us those 2 questions answered and we can go from there..
  6. man... 611 needs to get back out on the rails. I would love to see NW611 and the Y6 mallet make a return to the rails some day. they are some of the nicest and biggest locos that are operational but sidlined due to FRA regs or lack of intrest by its owners. here is a vid I took of SP 4449 a few years back coming through roundout IL on its way back from the big steam convention in MI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYFs2J7f648
  7. if all were full that has to be a head gasket issue or the deck hight had to much liner protrusion. I have helped rebuild old mack diesles but never did the liner removal install. Im thinking that the liners were not set right and water was able to sneak past the gasket or top of liner??? but this is a question that someone with first hand experince can help more with. was there water in the oil pan as well?
  8. A Little gang bang amungst friends is ok just as long as your willy does not get near the hole I'm in..and don't stand behind me while you wait for your turn... Lmao...
  9. Was the water in all holes or just one?
  10. Yea a quad will be to fragile with an e7. They are twin countershaft and can only take about 750ftlbs of torque. Your e7 will have about 1300 ....way to much power for the quad if it's a work truck..
  11. cool that Norfolk southern put the heritage loco in the mix... http://www.nscorp.com/nscportal/nscorp/Community/Heritage%20Locomotives/
  12. Looks like a great show...lots of clean trucks there...
  13. Great pics thanks for taking the time to post them....
  14. I also recall that there was a stud update but it may have been for the 711 only? Glen may know for sure? Something about thicker or stronger updated studs? If you can't find replacements I guess it's just time for an E9???
  15. First Mack I drove had a straight stack with The rain cap with the big counter weight. I can still hear the clank, clank, clank in my sleep. Always thought trucks looked tuff with them. But they have to be on a straight pipe. Those mitered flappers look silly imo...as far as fitment....I installed them at 90 deg so at speed the exhaust flow was unabstructed.
  16. Those kids must. Be fags.... Only a idiot would tell others about the gold mine they found...
  17. Yea the 300+ was not a maxidyne. Needed more then 5 gears to keep it In the middle rpm range. The 300 was a maxidyne.

  19. If you were offered a job for 30 days where you get paid 1 penny for your first day, your wage will double every day, and you're fired on the 30th day... simple question......Would you take the job?

  21. put my cab on the same way. board with a blanket wraped around it. worked great!
  22. "Here's the back story, we’re told that shortly after Crumb and Get It told Biden’s advance people 'no' -- the secret service walked in and told Chris McMurray ''Thanks for standing up and saying 'no' -- then they bought a whole bunch of cookies and cupcakes." Classic!
  23. ok here is a question while on topic of the tip turbines....Why was it that some 285's only had the air charge cooler and others had the air/water charge cooler? My truck is air only but have seen other 285s with the air and water set up? I thought that the 285 was air only and the 300+ was both air and water? what does it take to convert a 285 to a 300+ Is it as simple as a charge cooler and pump setting change? im putting in the 12 speed soon and have a water/air cooler. It would be cool to convert it over to a 300+ if its not much trouble.
