  1. my Daughter had to stay a extra night and a full day after birth. Her bilirubin levels were also high and they put her under the light to get then down...when levels went down we went home and did 2 more check ups a few days apart. It was more stress on us than the baby.
  2. That cab would be fairly small (height wise) for all the crap they jam into these newer firetrucks. All the new Firetrucks I see are a Brick with doors up front and huge windows all the way around the front..
  3. Whats that saying... Get in where you fit in....
  4. Too Soon?
  5. on of my biggest fears when pulling with the old R600 was a flywheel or something coming thru the floor. I have seen what a runaway engine can do to a bell housing when a clutch/flywheel lets go. a cab over would be even worse. If it had big power a scatter shield of some sort would be a must.
  6. compression test is a good start
  7. This whole volvo thing with not offering a Mack (or for that matter their own self) with a standard Big HP north American engine to be used in a Heavy Duty on/off road Truck is pure ignorance. Name one other truck MFG that builds more extreme service duty chassis and then chokes it with poor engine power options. Even if the big HP was offered as a out side vendor engine it would still make more sense to offer it up as a option to those who demand it rather than send that customer away looking at a different truck MFG. It is pretty obvious to me that a truck with more options becomes more appealing to a buyer.
  8. I drove a 300L that had been turned up to 2100... it had a T2060 or T2070 (cant remember) a hog on fuel but It would pull top gear to around 72MPH
  9. Have that low RPM pump re calibrated to a 2100RPM pump.... you will be able to get to the Iowa 80 show about 30 mins faster
  10. That is very interesting. I would have thought IH would have had a higher market share. It also seems the Mack brand is not as far off as they were 25 years ago, even though they are mostly a Volvo these days. thank you
  11. Mack had 13% in 1990 ....what do they hold onto now?
  12. so they make a sleeper version Granite in Australia ? is this not a repete of the failed Titan offerings here in the states?
  13. No!
  14. That is a very solid point and should be shared to these goons pushing for ELD. I dont haul freight but if I did I would not put up with these shippers with the appointment crap. Pay me for a days work be it sitting at a dock or rolling down the road....very simple and I dont know why drivers put up with that crap
  15. I sleep a good 7-8 when I drive so that would work. I wonder how well it can maintain cool temps. I normally set the blower on low and the a/c to max cool. I wake up to 50 degrees some times...and Love it! I sleep better than at home LOL
  16. I have never slept in a truck with a APU or other device that allows the use of A/C with the Diesel engine off. Im not sure I would sleep well without the "white noise" of the engine running? Regardless this is a slick way to maintain voltage and use the A/C...but I wonder how strong it is. I can see a low tree branch causing a very expensive issue.
  17. I was thinking more of how the driver was going to feel after a day of off roading in one of those things. they seam to be a rough rider even on the street.
  18. About 10 years ago they had a mass sell off of them. most were 250 or 300HP with automatics... a few guys picked them up and turned them into dump trucks. first time I had ever seen a MR pulling a dump box
  19. looks like fuel tank is melted. the fire had diesel fuel at its disposal
  20. The Donald says Klinger can go home now.......
  21. 10 years ago here in Chicago 90% of new concrete trucks were mack. With Recent ownership change of our local major concrete company's I think mack has around 50% now. The Refuse market is also going slowly away from mack as well. slumping mack market share is very noticeable these days
  22. The superliner II that was at a company I worked for simply had the stainless breather bracket bolted to the driver side cowl with aid of a stiffener plate on the inside of the cab. it made the kick vent un usable. I have seen some superliners that had that stiffener plate on the passenger side as well. you will also want to adjust the driver door stop so that the door cant swing into the breather. again the passenger side may already have the limited swing hinge on it.
  23. I was not aware it was available that late into the 90s
  24. correct me if im wrong but wont a trans with a over drive final gear driving very fast rears give you very poor pulling ability. I can see how it might be better on fuel if the engine can maintain such low RPM on cruise but once you hit any slight grade you will need to downshift to get the RPMS back up?
  25. if its a simple 2 wire set up..... from the back of the unit just run a wire from the + post over to the battery then attach a ground wire to the frame or block. after the truck starts give it some rpm and then use the volt meter to check voltage at the battery. On my R model I am seeing 13.5 to 13.7 at my batterys and about the same on the dash gauge Or just run it over to a electrical shop and ask them what they think. I know the 22SI had different options how they were equipped.
