  1. What is the engine in it at the moment? Got any pics? I always liked the r700's.
  2. "Cheaply produced and cheap materials" that's my experience with freightliner too. Basically they aren't a bad truck, but anything plastic (and there is lots) will break.
  3. Are the tanks rusted? I pulled the tanks on my dads truck, they looked good till I got the straps off. Underneath they were rusted bad.
  4. I'm glad to say that I'm just the t/a (trades assistance) for this job. Plus the turn around time is a bit long... Still a while away from paint. Gotta do the ramps and dummy fit the hydraulics. But it's going to eventually be red... As for budget, I reckon I'd be a touch under so far. But there is still time for a blow out;-)
  5. Thi Paul, well the plan is get all the sheets on, cut out the container pin holes and then my mate will tack it in place, while I'm about with a hammer. Apparently when you weld it, the floor rises a bit. So when I see the cherry from where his tack weld is, I belt it with a hammer and flatten it out. So hopefully we can get all the sheets tacked in, then weld it the next day. It's a lot different to driving! I'm enjoying it though. Probably wouldn't be the case if I did it day-in, day-out. Tim.
  6. Floor runners are in now. Hope to get the floor on tomorrow.
  7. I agree, the bit of colour from th hub breaks it up a bit.
  8. When you quote the fuel economy of the newer scr equiped trucks, does anyone include the ad blue in that equation? Cause last time I checked, it doesn't grow on trees.
  9. Your dad must be pretty happy! So gas he got a plan with it yet? just a quick tidy up or more?
  10. If you love something let it go. If it comes back it's yours to keep. If it doesn't then it never was, or you don't have enough money. Good job on getting it back.
  11. He lives in my town, and I called him by chance regarding some parts he had for sale. When he mentioned his mack I put two and two together. I think he sold his mack and is probably elbows deep in another project.

    Huh?..

They say you always remember your first. But not many get to keep a newspaper cut out about it... Lucky bugger!
  13. Them quads are pretty cool, but when you've seen one you've seen them all. What is really cool is the 80's coe Kenworth with cat 3408 power that the camera was in.
  14. Nice looking motor home!
  15. Thanks for your input guys. I did see my local mack parts supplier but he had to check in the books for them. He got back to me late yesterday and has 8 in stock. He is a good young bloke, I know a lot of parts blokes that wouldn't bother if it not in their computer system.
  16. I'm replacing the bolts in mine now. Can't find an exact replacement however. The original bolts have a head diameter of 29mm or 1-1/8 inch. Only ones I can find have a head diameter of 20mm. What sizes do you guys have? Will smaller ones pull thru over time?
  17. From what I gather, all the high hp trucks are normally in front of their own (usually automatic) gear box. As far as I know, the biggest eaton 18 speed is 2250ft/lb rated. That's my guess anyway. Also, the cummims isx is rated up to 1200hp in marine applications so you can definitely get the power out of them.
  18. I'm using a jabra. Some people hear me, some don't. I think you need background noise cancelling one.
