Yeah, only got 12 Yuenglings so i'm rationing it- i'm finishing up the Bud Light that's left from last weekend. Only had about 8 or 9 cans in the box...down to 4 now.

Well, I can't go back today- had a Bud light or three since I got back- but it's not that far, I can go back on a Saturday morning and see if I can find out anything. It's at some kind of business, but I don't know what it is. We just pulled in and when I saw the "for sale" sign I figured that meant I could get out and take pictures of it.

There's no such thing as too many pictures on here!

I've been on a secret mission today. I went over to Concord to turn the refrigerator off in the red truck and get the half a pack of ham and half a bottle of Miracle Whip that i'd left in it- I was afraid it would run the batteries down and it wouldn't start tomorrow. Anyway, when we left I said "we should ride down to Drakes Branch and see if that B model sleeper cab is still sitting there." I had seen it a couple of months ago when I was passing through but I didn't get a picture. So we did, and it was still sitting there. It looked a lot worse up close than it did driving by that day, lots of rust- but there was two new looking coil racks laying in the passenger seat.

I unloaded a load of beams in Roanoke early Monday morning, then went up here to Milton, W.V. and picked up two mill rolls and took them back to Petersburg, Va. Picked up another load of beams in Petersburg going to Roanoke, but I dropped it at the yard and took a van load to Fuquay Varina, N.C. Cleaning up damage from the recent tornado in Evergreen, Va. The railroad tracks are over in the background, that's where I lived when I was renting a house in Evergreen, just this side of the tracks. The house later burned. Got distracted by Fox news... I hauled a bulldozer a while back and the man that hauled the dozer to where I picked it up has a restored B 61 Mack. I finally got to see a picture of it yesterday- It's an old Jamerson Brothers truck, like this one except for the tandem axles. Here's some of his old tractors behind the B model on the same trailer he had the dozer on- Fox News, B models, and a bulldozer inspires me to post a poorly photo-chopped picture of a Winfall wimmins posing in a field by a bulldozer...

H.H.Moore had a guy from Covington that had an old green and white Transtar with a 318 leased on with him. It was really weak, even for a 318. His uncle used to ride with him sometimes and when we were hauling chips from Ivy, Va. to Covington for Westvaco one summer you would see him climbing Afton Mountain about as fast as you could run- he had his foot holding the driver side door open and his uncle would be holding the other door open with his foot.

I took fertilizer to Sam's Market in Lookout, which was mainly a grocery store, but they had a little of everything, and they unloaded it - by hand of course- in a little shed beside the store. I always had fake bills that said I had a load of Kyanite when I went to W.V. with fertilizer because we couldn't haul fertilizer in W.V. but we could haul ground ore. I never got checked anywhere anyway, but if I had and they looked under the tarp and saw it was fertilizer they would probably have been in even bigger trouble with the false documentation!

Helluva load of lumber on that wagon! Where's the engine on the Convoy car hauler, and how does it keep cool? Always liked the old "snub nose" trucks. Cool little mixer in there too.

The rack inspector showed up a few seconds later- she's inspecting her own rack right now.

Kind of like Richmond Dragway, I used to take my 350 Nova and my '70 Chevelle SS there in the 70's. You could run 12.00 all day with no safety equipment at all, but if you turned an 11.99 you were done, unless you had all the safety equipment- roll cage, helmet, drive shaft loops, etc.

We figured we should have our shit together when we got there, so I had my hard hat, glasses, steel toed boots, and reflective safety vest on, but I was still wrong- they also required long sleeves.

You're right about that. Wouldn't surprise me if backup beepers are required equipment on jobsites after this. This might have happened before at some point in history, but i've never heard of a similar accident before. But I believe that when your time is up, you're going away from here.

Yep, I think there was two trucks from that same company there. They had to drop their trailers last Tuesday because they couldn't get unloaded because of lightning in the area. They were in a different area than we were, and from what I understand they had to back in off the highway to get to their trailers when they came back on Wednesday, so they were probably in a hurry to get off the highway too.

He asked me about backup beepers on trucks too, he said everything at that job site had backup alarms on them but the trucks coming in didn't. I said I don't know, the truck I drive now has a backup alarm, but it's the first one i've ever driven that had one.

True that. The man I was talking to said the man on the forklift was there and saw the whole thing. He said he jumped up on the side of the truck and was beating on the window trying to get the driver's attention. When the driver stopped and got out and saw what had happened he got back in the truck and would not get out. The whole thing was caught on the security camera there too he said.

Saw a girl or two in a car or two- they'll be getting smaller as the weather gets warmer. The power plant we took the crane to near Martinsville, In. After the fatality accident last week they put barricades in front of every dropped trailer at the site- I was talking to one of the guys that was unloading us and he said the man who was killed was their foreman. He was standing in front of a trailer, facing the trailer. The truck driver didn't see him and backed under the trailer to hook up, just mashing him between the 5th. wheel and 5th. wheel plate...horrible. So they made all these barricades. They didn't want us to start, stop, turn, pull up, back up, or anything else without somebody being there to tell us what to do, and they had an escort walking in front of the truck everywhere we went. They finally unloaded me with the forklift Tuesday evening, after sitting there most of the day, but the other two trucks didn't get unloaded until Wednesday because the wind was blowing too hard to use the crane. Then I went to La Porte, In. and picked up 16 scrap coils going to Suffolk, Va. The coil inspector had to inspect them even though they were scrap coils.

Not nearly as impressive as the above photos, but I did see a D7 sitting in a field.

Well, don't tell anyone else this, but it's mostly a pigment of my imagination.

Oh, trucks run it a lot- there's a Georgia Pacific plant and a chip mill just down the road in Brookneal.
