  1. I saw a picture somewhere a week or so ago of a water truck that belonged to some fracking company out of West Virginia that had crashed through a bridge in Greene county, Pa. The story said the driver was following his GPS. The bridge had an 8 or 10 ton weight limit on it. I know from past experiences with light weight roads and bridges in Pa. that that's gonna cost somebody a ton of money- maybe several tons.
  2. No, it was this one...I think. or maybe it was this-
  3. I used this picture for photo-chopping purposes. I think it was this one anyway.
  4. Wow, that's a lot of work, since I only have one picture of the RGN, none with the truck i'm driving now, and none of the dozer- but i'll give it a shot... Holy mackle, i'm impressed- came out great, eh? The untrained eye could never tell that that's not the real deal right there!
  5. Yes, I called him- he said it was OK.
  6. I was supposed to go to Petersburg and get a load of beams going to San Antonio, Tx. Friday, but after sitting at the jobsite in Clarksburg, Md. until after 5 o'clock I missed out on that load too. Probably get a load of pipes or something tomorrow.
  7. I had an important mission today- I was supposed to meet a guy from Appomattox at the truck stop in Candor, N.C. in the morning, and he was going to ride with me to Bennetsville, S.C. to pick up a bulldozer on the detachable gooseneck trailer. His brother was bringing the dozer up from Walterboro,S.C. with his truck, and he was going to unload it and load on my trailer in Bennetsville. Jeff said it was an old IH and it weighed about 35,000lbs. I went to the shop this morning, fueled up, hooked to the trailer, made sure the engine had gas in it and everything worked, put a marker light on it, got my permits, then came home. I was supposed to meet him around 9:30 in the morning, so I was going to leave around 6am. Good paying load too. Then Jeff called a little while ago and said the guy had called him and said his brother's truck broke down, so he wouldn't be able to make the trip tomorrow, so now I won't get to make the trip either. Never hauled a dozer before.
  8. Nice Vlad!
  9. Oh, never mind- I think I see him.
  10. Most people wouldn't understand, but this is great!

  11. I rode over to Winfall today, saw this girl getting out of a car at the dollar store. I think she was trying to attract my attention, but I had to get a pack of Newports and a carton of Schlitz malt liquor bull, so I didn't have time to see what she wanted.
  12. which one's Ed?
  13. It is that...that's the only thing they don't have in Winfall, a hot dog stand. But, anyhow- I discovered a new TV channel a while ago...OK, I probably didn't really discover it, but I didn't even know I could get it. It was...I don't remember what it was called, but it's channel 364 on Directv. It had Daniel Boone, The Virginian, High Chaparrel, The Big Valley, Bonanza, and more old shows. I remember watching The Virginian with my grandfather when I was just a kid. I watched it today for the first time in almost 50 years, good show. I was trying to get "Everest" on the pay per view thing, but I never could figure out how. I've read Jon Krakauer's book "Into Thin Air" about 8 times and really wanted to see the movie, which is based on the book. Maybe it'll end up in the discount bin at the Wal Mart store some day.
  14. It is here too, but Winfall is "special". And it is indeed a real place- http://roadsidethoughts.com/va/winfall-xx-campbell-profile.htm
  15. I got to Concord about 10 o'clock last night, and the blue truck wouldn't start. The battery was low- It started fine Wednesday, when I drove it down to the bank, and I hadn't left anything on. So I got my jumper cables out and started the other blue truck and pulled down to the blue truck and jumped it ,started right up. I'll test the battery with the battery testing device at the shop. I've had it over 10 years and only remember putting one battery in it, so it might be time for no.2.
  16. thank you Ron!
  17. I saw these two wimmins in Winfall when I was coming home last night around 10:30, but I didn't have time to stop and chat.
  18. smart ass
  19. I passed this truck on 81. I've seen a couple of them lately but don't remember ever seeing them before. Their website said they've been in binness since 1989. They're out of Quebec. Catchy name! I got to Clarksburg about 7pm. I stopped at Broadway on the way and got a bite to eat, and I got a big submarine sammich about 4 feets long to take with me because they said they probably wouldn't start unloading any trucks until about 9 or 10 in the morning. But I ate it when I got there... I saw the sun coming up Friday morning- Crane boom- Some 'quipment- Had several snow flurries pass through while I was there. Dozer working the road- they had to keep the top scraped off because that red dirt was slicker than ice when it was wet. Saw a flock of those wild puhterradactiles passing by. and more snow flurries... ...and I finally got unloaded late yesterday evening. The mud was terrible, two of us tore mudflaps off the trailer backing in. After they washed the mud off the tires I left at 5:15- a little over 22 hours on this jobsite I hope I never have to go to again, but probably will. And I saw this picture of this old truck on the interweb, but I couldn't make out what it is because it's a little blurry...
  20. Where'd I leave off...hmmm, maybe this is new- From Jan. 16- had enough snow here to make a little snowdog on the back porch. Had enough snow last week to make about anything. Heading out to work Monday morning- I had a van load of kyanite already loaded at the yard going to Chester, W.V. I took this on I 64 in Va, so I could compare it to how crappy the road would be in West Virginia... but they surprised me. I was expecting the usual "2 tracks in the right lane" all the way to Beckley, but it was all clear. A load of little piggys. I went from Chester to Akron,Ohio to get 8 pallets of synthetic rubber going to Bedford, Va, about 20,000 lbs.Passed by Freighttrain's place, I think this is his garage that he keeps his race car in. Saw a pretty neat looking old wooden bridge across the street from where I unloaded in Bedford. Then I had to drop the van and go back to work. Took a five coil load to Greensboro, then went to Roanoke and got this ugly-ass load of structural steel going to Clarksburg, Md. It looked pretty high, so I measured it- 13-4. I ended up putting 8 chains and 2 straps on it.
  21. I had a red pedal tractor when I was a kid. I don't think it was a replica of any particular brand or model, but to me it was a 300 Farmall.
  22. I went over to Winfall to hit the slopes today, but it was too crowded, and I don't know how to ski anyway, so I went home.
  23. yep, me too- happy birthday Rob, wherever you are...
  24. ...names- http://ilyke.co/u4770p6168/i-was-looking-for-hot-sauce-when-i-found-the-most-ridiculous-name--actually-18-of-them/73663/?pid=1
  25. I think congratulations are in order for Superdog, the human encyclopedia of all things Mack. He's not one to toot his own horn, but he was mentioned numerous times in the cover story of the latest Wheels of Time. He was instrumental in finding the H67 on the cover for the owner, and in providing many parts for it and helping to get it running.
