  1. yup! totally agree check the hose at the compressor very common leak there! also have seen these bypass dodads stick! Always by passing the charge air will cause high heat and low power! Most of the engines in our area here we disabled this unit it causes more trouble than its worth!
  2. We sold a half dozen in early 2007 the cross over year 2006-2007 from gray to red ! basically trouble free units as stated a cup job or two one head gasket incident recently not a bad run really! Agree don't mess with success!
  3. Yup these even had the centramax filter !These guys tossed out all the Mack Ideas! Not complicated enough for them guess ! next year tossed it! I wouldn't mess with it my self! what do you cherry pick ? The rockers change up we accidentally put the wrong rockers in one!( Parts dept Feasco) that killed the power took us months to find what had happened! (you have a Very rare truck there It will be a collectors item 30 years from now!) 😅 So many little changes that may or may not benefit what your trying to accomplish! I disagree 🙃!The bastard trucks are the ones they build today! This one was half ass bastardized !The assimilation started at the frame! That went first! Then the engine, now its the trans, diffs are yet to be burred they are working at it!
  4. check the above first easy stuff! keep us posted! Yup I edited my reaction I noticed the mechanical after the fact ! My bad!
  5. 350 mechanical! ! first check to see if the fuel shut off is going full off then check the the throttle lever for full stroke ! All Good? yes !? then Remove the 3/8 plastic line to the top of the fuel pump if u suck on that hose and it won't hold a vacuum the diaphragm in that unit is holed needs replacing! just three quick checks to start with!
  6. yup
  7. They run hot! If you replace this with a constant duty cole hersey It will work with a few mods! If your lucky enough to get a hold of the old silver bullet relay you'll be laughing PAI may still carry it! don't accept the plastic bacolite one if they offer it to you absolute junk!
  8. Also the wire harness is totally different better off with a donnor truck for a project like this also I don't see the advantage of changing to Vmac 2 the vmac1 is a good setup the modules can go bad on Vmac 2 as well . Seen it happen !
  9. Its really to bad Theses Volvo turds didn't take some of the good Mack Ideas and put them to use! That said they did use a tapper on the Volvo and I don't have much bad to say over this axle It is about the only thing on the truck that is worthy of having a Mack Stamp On it!
  10. Long as you can get a clear swing with a sledge on these your laughfin remove the spider if you have to! Love doing these pins so easy once the bottom nut is out that's the only not nice part of the job!
  11. second that!😡
  12. Does the dash show any malfunction lights? Is the truck auto or manual trans? NO ? then The V.E.B.C is the engine brake valve under the valve cover these have been known to have issues at times! We have had them failed right out of the box! could also be the switch on the dash or the clutch switch if equipped !
  13. I beleive there are minor changes to each progressivly fueling turbo ect Not a guru on this subject! an example A v8 865 was a 325 maxidine 866 went to 375 with out the maxidyne function ! I think the engine you have there is a 237 if it had a 6 sp trans behind it it would have been a Maxidyne and with out it would have been a 235! again not a GURU!
  14. sweet install 237 ?the 285 350 type stuff will bolt on there for sure log as you got a doner vehicle! you run the risk of breaking the block if you try to take more than 350 out of it! In my mind your better off with a 285 maxidine set up for a tractor just me! the governor set up is more freindly for that kind of work! note to that when the hp increased on this block they added stifening webs between the main caps!
  15. Yup agree 100 percent As a group here if we don't know it and you can't make some sense of what we do know ! There are Guys here that came talk people thru most anything However this trans has quirks! in my opinion ! Take it to a dealer Chances are its out of your skill set and you may cost your self more than tackling it your self! They SHOULD have the where with all to repair it! There Is always a slim chance its illusive!
  16. Book learning is only a small part of it and if you don't have the opportunity to get involved in the actual repair your like me a sidewalk superintendent! The ribbon tape requires you to pull the floor out and the lid off the trans And as Joe mentioned the Guys listed above are the ones you need to listen too! While there you need to be watching for stuff ! There is a stop plate that commonly comes loose/cracks/ breaks ! Need to watch for this !I highly recommend taking it to a reputable dealer for repair! Just sayin
  17. Buddy ya arn't a fortune teller! Crystal balls are in short supply!
  18. Not to many people look! I had been doing comercial inspections for the last 10 years If I spot these on older vehicles I usually ask the customer to let me at least inspect them! slot of older units use these!
  19. Not sure valves dropping had anything to do with it engines with or with out have dropped valves i think they discovered it was a useless item and there were better ways after all most are equipped with intake heater like many other things its on a need to know basis its for them to know and us to find out if we dig deep enough! They aint going to tell ya if they are having a mortality rate on something! that you discover on your own or when they send out a vague service bulletin delete like they have with this or you see with your own eyes with repeat failures ! And like everything else the programing changes from day to day! The bull gear and injector cup feasco is a perfect example ! in the real Mack days The fuel line and cam deboggle of years past they don't like to admit they have problems they like to call them ISSUES! Most of the time things get sorted out The injector cup deal is half better because they got rid of 3 dancing injectors If they had got rid of all 6 and went proper common rail Instead of the dollar store injection they would likley have a none issue! That said everything evolves poor planning on the injector cup front there! From what I have heard Volvo has had issues with cups long before it got involved with Mack even before EGR ! So they compounded the issue when raising injection pressures by letting pluggers remain .,same single wimpy bolt holding down the injector when two likley should have been used just a bunch of over sights! trying to keep costs down! Roll the dice We already have this settup lets do this to it It should work! MAYBE! Again Just an opinion Everyone has their own thoughts on these matters !Thinking out loud! Oh well to much time on my hands just rambling! woulda shoulda! coulda!
  20. bummer
  21. nice! To bad! Double frames are a bit of a Pain that way!
  22. No boost leaks/exhaust leaks it could be a shit turbo or a worn out engine too. But I wouldn’t worry about a few psi. Every engine has different ranges even when they are new. WHAT ony is talking there is where you need to be looking at! FIRST! Eliminate what you can before throwing parts Waste of money otherwise! and yup it could be a bad turbo However! Things to look for are Black smoke under load High pyrometer readings! check for boost leaks check the compressor inlet tube hose real common leak there! just sayin don't jump to conclusion on a turbo!
  23. We BS Alot Here! you know! 😂
  24. They started ripping people off for hp when emissions tightened every year a new regulation a lower hp SEEN IT HAPPEN since the 80' s
